To teach deliberate movement for those who flail around when frustrated, to teach speed for those who take things cautiously, and of course the two ways he uses narration, to interrupt your concentration with his thoughts about various things and to throw your failures in your face when you fall to the bottom, to really set in the pain and frustration. It's a beautiful tool of inflicting suffering.
