    Ok, let’s be honest here.... you can be given a piece of chewed gum and you’d create a fricken masterpiece with it!!! You’re just on another “diy” level here on the Tube!

    It is nice to see someone break out of the farmhouse style mode that everyone else has been doing. Not that this isn’t farmhouse but that it is new stuff, thanks!

    My dad taught me this years ago Used to build houses under construction so that must be where he learned it but if you add soap to your water regular dish soap it will help to smooth out that caulcking even more... It works with most silicone based putties and drywall muds... With the drywall mud sometimes you mix the soap right into it to help it may smooth and don't be afraid to use a tablespoon or 2 for a project like the when you're working on it seems like a lot but it works.you could probably skid the extra smoothing you did on you project... since you pattern was so dense the very first smoothing you did with out water may have been sufficient than you wouldn't need to worry about it drying out silicone based caulks will dry out now matter what it is a chemical reaction so the faster you work with the less you have to dig...lol. you can get all kinds of different caulking from the home store too. Just a few things my dad taught me that i thought might be helpful

    Justin, I found you by accident tonight just going to watch TH-cam video on my gmail site. The only other man I know that crafts is Jamie Miles the craftydiyguy. I have never bought those block games but I will now to make yiur candle holder and I already have a copper planter which is very weird timing on just finding it last night and letting it soak all night long and then this morning I scrubbed it and where the copper has discolored I was wondering what to do about it but now I will go to Home Depot and get spray. Also, I worked late tonight never made it to the bank so tomorrow will go and its next to a Dollar Tree. I need dish liquid bad as I have been using shampoo on my dishes. 🤔
    I am the inventory clerk for the largest whole sale parts dept in Northern Va for chevy, GMC, buick and several times a yr we do a large field disposal where we throw out in dumpsters brand new parts GM will not take back. I hate waste. You should see the things I keep and repurpose and sell at my winter craft sales. I collect all the silver and brass engine oil seals. I make cool necklaces out of them. I cover the part that would be against your skin with clear nail polish. Last yr I sold a brass washer necklace for $40. The leather seat covers I make wallets and purses out of. We throw away $180 a pair of car mats. They will not fit my moms honda or my dads ford perfect but they are free and I find ones that will match. Yesterday I kept 3 brass nuts I will use on a mobile to make to hang near my veggie garden to keep the crowd away. Thank you for 2 great ideas. I think you are cool and your instructions are great! Sincerely, Rebekah from Arlington, VA

    Awesome pieces. Can't believe people gave you thumbs down. FYI Using a lazy susan to paint or when gluing around your project is a time saver and easier, as you don't have to handle it as much, just turn the lazy susan. Works wonders for spay painting too.

    So adorable!!! Do you think smooshing (is that a word) bubble wrap in lieu of using the pen would work? Asking for a lazy crafter! :)

    Wiping the stain off is what you should do. Especially, because you missed some spots. Lol. Love the project though.

    Genius! I loved both projects! I had an idea to make the hammered copper pot. How about misting the outside of the caulk with water and pressing bubble wrap in it to create the texture? Or dusting the surface of the caulk and bubble wrap with corn starch first the then pressing it in? Might make it easier. Or not. Experiment, experiment, experiment. Sometimes my ideas work great and other times they are epic fails. Lol!

    Hi Justin, I loved these so much that I rushed out and bought the items to make them for my daughter's patio table. She loves them. She's going to get the small battery operated candles for them. They are perfect for when her and my son-in-law want to sit outside on these hot summer nights. Thank you. I would share a photo but I don't know how on TH-cam. I'll try your Instagram though.

    Justin, great projects. Love them!! For the candles, do I need to stick the base blocks to the vase? I am not sure if the blocks will grip the vase.

    • @JustinWray
      @JustinWray  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! You don’t have to, I started glueing the blocks to the second layer, that way I could slide it off to clean the glass! 🥰❤️🤗

    Either supplies are low because of the 'Rona, or he's anti-gloves. The stain, the caulking!🤦😁

    • @lestranged
      @lestranged 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I noticed that. Wood stain especially, stains under your nails and you can't scrub it off. Plus volatile chemicals can penetrate skin.

  • @NoraDesmond897

    Hello, do you think the caulking smearing would work on plastic? (I'd ruff it up first).

    These are so creative!! Much more in depth and time consuming steps than most diy decor videos I watch, but I'm someone who loves the repetitive motion of painting 40 small blocks while watching a show so these are actually feasible for me to make😂
