One other comment--I find your patterns and videos a bit easier to do then what I often see. This diamond lace I can follow. I go crazy trying to do the drop stitch--started a scarf 3 times and gave up, ripped it all out. Your figure 8 is easier to follow than others I've seen and I know I can do it. Thank you for caring about those of us who struggle a bit. I am sharing your web page with knitting friends.
Thank you for these videos! I had no idea how to do any of this! I crochet (needle knot a tad), but this loom knitting is way more fun than needle knitting. Hugs.
Love this video, actually love all your videos. I can follow all of them first time. I always post them to Pinterest and send them to all my "loomie" friends. Please keep up the great videos, please.
I like this stitch very much. I will try making a hat with it. I am not talent as yourself, maybe someday I will be able to make a pattern on my own but I don't have much faith in that case. Someday I am hoping you will make a prayer shawl. I love your tutorials and feel I seem to do very well with your tutorials . Ty for sharing this stitch.
That one is really pretty! I can't wait to try it, but I have a project going on 3 different looms because I keep starting new things! Ha. I do one for a while and then do another one! Ha! But I have been able to donate 3 hats, a scarf and 3 sets of boot cuffs to a charity called Headbands for Hunger that my friend started. We sell our items and the proceeds go to our local food bank. You're a real inspiration to me. Thanks.
+Liz Feick First, the 3 unfinished projects is too funny - just wrote that about me to someone else - exactly 3 projects! OK we're both going to finish at least one by the weekend - You'll see mine by Saturday - You come back and tell me when you finish yours : ). We're officially on a mission! - Hey and thanks for letting me know that my work has helped in your charitable giving - that sooooooo makes my day. It's the main reason I started this. Keep up the GREAT work Liz. THANK YOU for Giving !
i love this stitch and plan on making a scarf. a question about rows 2 and 4. in the written pattern u indicate leave last 4 pegs and knit(ewrap). why are u knitting last 4 pegs on one end so it is not matching the beginning of row? if i continue to last peg with figure 8 is that ok?
I want to use this pattern and make a pocket shawl 28" wide. How many cast on stitches on a 3/8 using #4 ply. Hope u can help. My neighbor had a stroke and I want to make one for her.
Any chance you could do a tutorial on the edelweiss stitch I wouldn’t even begin to know how to transfer thestitch to a loom thank you for so many wonderful tutorials if you ever put out a stitch book I would definitely buy it
I have been looking everywhere for loom knit sweater patterns and I thought sure you would have a video for sweaters. I would love to do this stitch on a sweater! I love your videos and I did the teddy bears, which turned out great so could you PLEASE do a sweater pattern? I am getting better at this, but need a little help with this project. Thank you Denise.
Hello denise great videos. This might be stupid but when i go in the round with 41 peg kk Going to the right leaves me at last peg then how do i start the row 2 going around meaning do. I do understand figure 8. Also you do 2 different wrapping the figure 8. 2 and 4 are different how you wrap it. God nless YOU. Stay safe
Azeem Ahmad Hi Azeem - Here is a link to the post: www.loomahat.com/sonia-cataquet-fabulous-loom-knitter/ . But it's basically just a few rows of e-Wrap
Hi Denise! I am using this stitch to make a shrug but I'm noticing that the stitches create a diagonal pattern for several rows, then the rows straighten out for several rows and then again go into the diagonal. Do you know if this is normal or am I doing something wrong? Thank you so much!
Do you skip the first peg at the beginning of each row, or just every other row? Do the skipped peg/pegs get added onto the the four stitch count repetition for the pattern? My row didn't end right, plus the figure eights didn't end up staggered into a diamond patter.
Good thing you asked - hope you have't started knitting the project. NO - that is only when knitting flat (back and forth). You do not slip (skip) pegs when knitting in the round. Now keep in mind that there are some hats patterns (VERY few) that you knit flat - but soooooooo few I would almost say never.
Is there a certain number of pegs that need to be used for this stitch? I have the Boye round looms of various sizes. What about gauge? This is a beautiful stitch.
+Barbara Greer The stitch needs 4 pegs - the total number depends on the project - gauge only matter if you want the stitch tighter or looser - its all about preferrance
Love the Diamond Lace loom stitch. Wish to make a lap afghan, have a very long wooden knitting loom. Not a circle loom like in videos. Question 1: If this stitch is based on 4-pegs, do I cast on stitches in multiples of 4? Question 2: Is this specific pattern in a paper book?
Hello, how do you start at the very beginning of this scarf? Is it all e-wrap? I really like this and want to make one, but I get hung up on how to start. Thank you for being so kind. Karen
this is such a pretty stitch but mine definitely has a "right" and "wrong" sides ... is it supposed to? And could you suggest a cast on and cast off that works best for this stitch? my e-wrap cast on is loose and a regular cast off came out tighter than i would have liked . also i was wondering if I could edge it it with like a few garter stitches or somersetting because it just seems flimsy and seems to want to kinda roll in . my test swatch was with #4 worsted weight , single strand ... Should I use 2 (or more) strands? haven't tried heavier weight yarn as of yet
Hi Denise, I have two granddaughters in southern Texas and want to make light, airy scarves for them as fashion accessories. Can I do this diamond lace stitch with just one #4 strand or even a metallic or other novelty yarn? To make a scarf into an eternity scarf or cowl, do I just stitch together the ends when finished or do I have to twist the flat piece once so I'm stitching the front side to the back side (there will be one twist in the finished scarf)? I love your work and patterns. My two favorite hats are the spiral and the belt hats and both my grandchildren and the charities I knit for will be blessed by them. I also love to do a hat in the basket weave stitch pattern. So very sharp!!! Thank you for all you are doing.
Hi Mary sorry for the delay. Yes this stitch can be done with one strand of any yarn. Just keep in mind that the thinner the yarn the more open the stitch. As for the infinity scarf - here is a video that will show you how to connect the 2 sides .. th-cam.com/video/2B29MDn-qes/w-d-xo.html
Hi there, Thanks for the video. It's a beautiful stitch. Can the knit stitch rows, 1 and 3, be the knit stitch or do they have to be e-wrap? I like the look of it more than the e-wrap.
Umbrellatoo Hi - I have not tried that variation. This is a lace stitch - changing the knit stitch from an e-wrap to the true may just give you a tighter eyelet - smaller holes. It's all about your preferences.
At the end of row 2 there were still 3 pegs that you hadn't wrapped and knitted off. I know the last was the turning peg but I'm not sure how you handle these final 2 pegs while continuing this pattern. The video just skipped from that point to the beginning of row 3. The answer may be obvious, just not to me! Thanks😉
+Toni Hovatter Hi Toni, for a lacey look it's best to use only one strand of ww yarn. You can use thicker - it's all about the look you're wanting to accomplish. I prefer the more open stitch.
I want to clarify something: In the pattern (for rows 2 and 4) it says, repeat from * till last four pegs and then knit last stitches. However, can I assume that, for row 2, that will really mean that the first two of the four will be figure 8 and then the last two will be knit or that all four will be knit (and I'm assuming you mean e-wrap)? And, for row four that the next to the last peg (and the one before that) will be figure 8 and the last peg will be knit (e-wrap), which would mimic the fact that the first peg on that same row is also knit. I'm just trying to make sure that you don't mean to knit (e-wrap) the last four pegs of each of those rows. Thanks! I'm so totally using this stitch soon... like probably this week!!
vegangelist Hi - I see where that can be confusing which is why I went back and added the captions to knit the last stitches. the pattern needs 3 pegs and an edge that was why I said til the last 4. ... all knits are e-Wrap
Okay I get the 4 at the end to create a boarder but what if you want to do a panel, ;lets say a 24 by 24 inch panel for a baby lovie then how do you get the border on all the 4 sides or even on the 2 outside sides? Can you show us how you go back the other way if you are working on a round to create a flat panel? I really want to uuse this and create lovies for my friends having babies. Ill add a head with long flappy ears in the middle. Thus my 24 x 24.
Darcia Cowart Darcia - First keep in mind that the intent of the video was ONLY to teach the stitch and not a project of any kind. Sorry but I don't know what you mean by baby lovies. I will assume that it is a blanket. I am a bit confused about your next question. On the video the stitch is worked on a round loom as a flat panel . The pattern for in the round and flat versions is on the website: www.loomahat.com/loom-knit-stitches/ To add borders on the top or on the side you knit what ever stitch you would like your border to be. Here is a video on how to make a square - substitute the purl stitch for this one. www.loomahat.com/knit-squares To work out the 24 x 24 size - you would need to create a swatch to figure out a gauge. Hope this explanation helps some.
LoomaHat.com Yes a lovie is a blanket a baby carries around as a soothing blanket, I fold the square into a triangle with the fold at the top then loom a ball for a head and add floppy ears and then attach the ball head to the center of the folded line. Very cute. I have seen similar ones in Lions brand yarn creation books for babies but they are crocheted. They are a lace stitch. So super cute. So I will use this stitch to re create it. vegangelist asked about the last 4 stitches 2 weeks ago and I was asking a question in response to that conversation the knit the last 4 seems like that would create a boarder looking finish on the piece. Ill have to play with it, Thanks for the info on the squares. We made 325 hats and 130 blankets in March. I just taught our young women to loom and they made the bags to store reuseable sanitary pads and liners for a group of 40 girls at a school in India. We sewed over 650 pads we did use loomed pieces in some of the pads interior liners to give them absorbency wool yarn does well and breathes. we will be making more and this time adding loom knitted tampons that can be washed, So excited to lead that project with our young women. Will also be working with the local schools on creating the pads from their scraps and will also teach them to loom. Ill share your videos and hopefully I will have made a project out of each stitch so I can teach them how to do it and show them what it looks and feels like. Then they can help me make hats and scarfs for the children s shelter.
Darcia Cowart If you want to see the lovie or other items I make using your stitches they are on my face book page. I just create. I know you could create the video to make the lovie its a great gift. I get asked to do videos all the time, but Id rather just create. Ive made several baby cacoons with different stitches and added lace yarn. Those are perfect for pictures. I do not want to make videos, I just like to teach yours to the youth. They pick one out and I walk them through it. They love them. Very proud of them selves when they can master a stitch or item. They appreciate all you do, This fall Ill work with the seniors center on loom projects so keep up the weekly videos so I have a lot to teach
+charlize Hi Charlize, this is a stitch pattern and not a complete project. It is meant to be used to design your own project. I don't start or finish a STITCH pattern because you don't start all projects the same way - I may want a garter stitch brim for my hat where I am going to use this stitch and you may be using it for a blanket or a scarf - the project is more important then the stitch in deciding how to start or finish. First choose the project you want to make for the stitch and figure what the best cast-on and bind-off is THAT project, be it a hat or a blanket . Hope that makes sense
On row 2 you said "skip 2 and on the third peg do a figure of 8" but you actually skipped 3 pegs. So you did: skip 1, figure 8, skip 2, figure 8, skip 3, figure 8. Did you mean to do that? I've watched it back in slow motion and that's what you did but not what you said. Just need to clarify xxx ❤
Why youtube denying me to see the video i am clicking and doesn't make me show what i was trying to watch! I want to learn what is on the presentation and it only show ONE type of knitting because there is the diamond knitting at the end of the scarf. Or is this wrong and false presentation of what you trying to represent. Deceived! I have thought that it was passing their time to bring me on this video where the presentation video, the yarn is bigger and is WHITE instead be beige... what the hell is this?! I AM SO CONFUSED What is going on with youtube? Seem the link is broken and make me see the next video or the previous video constantly like if the video i try to see doesn't exist anymore. Its a ghost link that make me redirecting into your video most of the time... i doesn't understand!!! o.O Where is the real presentation of this beige scarf video and how to do it? Why this white yarn demonstration is doing in there? I'm sorry... this is not what i am searching for. I am advanced knitter and i want the manual on how to do the scarf presentation that you have put on your TH-cam video picture presentation. And i doesn't understand why a company well establish would commit a BIG MISTAKE presentation like this of a manual of instruction of a stiching pattern project. Lame! Review your politic on how to share your instruction of knitting. i was having BIGGER EXPECTATION from this video as you just present one of the type of the knitting present in the scarf but you doesn't show the rest. Stop spread CONFUSION. It's my advice. I'm Audimutity (Dysphasy Congenital) and i follow logic and procedure. If i face an obstacle, i just go directly tell the truth and what is the problem and i would like you to solve this issue. Thank you for you comprehension. And again... I'm sorry!
+Leabelle Dolphysa Hi - a lot has been said so I will try to help you understand. First the picture does not show a beige scarf. It a dusty pick sweater. The video does not say you will learn how to knit a scarf - it’s only intended to teach you how to loom (no needles) knit the stitch and only the stitch. Yes I’m using a different color yarn because the project in the picture was already completed. Again the video is only meant to teach a stitch pattern and not a project. Hope this cleared up any confusion.
Elizabeth this is only a stitch pattern and not a project. With a stitch pattern- the designer decides how to start and finish a project. I hope that makes sense if not - here is a more detailed video m.th-cam.com/video/YWjS77zVdaw/w-d-xo.html
I know years have passed since you asked your question... but just in case you still need the answer, and for others with same question, a text written right on her video just before she finishes her row (at 3:35 in her video) she says, "End row with knit stitches". Hope this helps! Thank you Denise. The text in your video was very helpful.
If you like the video, please consider sharing it and purchasing a pattern - it helps a lot 💛 Thank YOU: loomahat.store
Hi, Denise.
I can't find this stitch in your store. Is it still available? I'd love to purchase the pattern.
One other comment--I find your patterns and videos a bit easier to do then what I often see. This diamond lace I can follow. Thank YOU Mary for all your kind words !!! I so appreciate it.
Just want to say Thank you for your videos. They are a great resource. And you deserve some recognition for your effort.

I love this!!! Thank you so much for CLEARLY explaining each step!
Thank YOU for the Thank you Monique , I really appreciate it !
I like this stitch very much. I will try making a hat with it. I am not talent as yourself, maybe someday I will be able to make a pattern on my own but I don't have much faith in that case. Hi from Russia :) Thanks for video dear!
Beautiful pattern. Thanks:)
How would you do this to make a baby blanket? Are you stitching the panels together?
i love this stitch and plan on making a scarf. a question about rows 2 and 4. in the written pattern u indicate leave last 4 pegs and knit(ewrap). why are u knitting last 4 pegs on one end so it is not matching the beginning of row? if i continue to last peg with figure 8 is that ok?

I love your voice! :) Thank you for this stitch.
Thank you for the Thank you Monica. Very much appreciated !
Trying this in the round. At the end of row 2 and 4, I run out of pegs. Should I just e-wrap the last ones that don't fit? Using a multiple of 4
do you need to have the stitches in multiples or anything specific. How do you end the figure 8 stitch?
Any chance you could do a tutorial on the edelweiss stitch I wouldn’t even begin to know how to transfer thestitch to a loom thank you for so many wonderful tutorials if you ever put out a stitch book I would definitely buy it
I have been looking everywhere for loom knit sweater patterns and I thought sure you would have a video for sweaters. I would love to do this stitch on a sweater! Do you think you ciuld make a market bad out of this stitch. Please reply. Im just doing the strap now.
Does diamond lace curl? If I use for an afghan, do I need a border?
Thanks for sharing such an informative video. I need to know how you make border of the sweater shown in this video. Thanks in anticipation.
Azeem Ahmad Hi Azeem - Here is a link to the post: www.loomahat.com/sonia-cataquet-fabulous-loom-knitter/ . But it's basically just a few rows of e-Wrap

Can I make it with a rectangular loom?I don't have a round one
Thank you so much Denise!
Thank YOU for the Thank you Carol , I really appreciate it !
Denise I love your channel I am disabled have you got a tool to peal with I live in England
This is gorgeous. I don't have a round loom, I'm assuming you can use a straight loom instead?
This is so cool! Thank you VERY much!
Thank YOU very much for the Thank you Keeba023, I really appreciate it !!!
Can the diamond lace stitch be done on a rectangular loom ?
+Teena Davis If you're only using one side, Yes.
HOw many peg pattern is this? 3? I want to make a blanket. Thank you! I have learned to knit by your videos!
this video was only about the stitch pattern - check out the link for more details
👉👉Hi, Denise. Do you have Diamond Lace Stitch in the round, and are you selling it on Ets¥, and what's the price? Thanks.👈
What if I'm making a hat and going around the circle do I still skip that first one in the beginning

+Barbara Greer The stitch needs 4 pegs - the total number depends on the project - gauge only matter if you want the stitch tighter or looser - its all about preferrance
could this be done on the infinity loom and what size of yarn is to be usedthanks
+Brenda Watkins Yes the stitch can be done on any loom - the yarn is worsted weight.
+LoomaHat.com would a yarn that is 6 ply be to thick to use for this stitch?
I have found that all yarns work well - but the thicker the yarn - the smaller the opening on the fabric. It's all bout how you want it to look.
Do you have the written explanations?
Love the Diamond Lace loom stitch. Wish to make a lap afghan, have a very long wooden knitting loom. Not a circle loom like in videos. Question 1: If this stitch is based on 4-pegs, do I cast on stitches in multiples of 4? Question 2: Is this specific pattern in a paper book?
Answer to both questions here: www.loomahat.com/diamond-lace-stitch/
what type of cast on do you use for this diamond lace? if I want to make a scarf how many pegs? the pattern is on website or no?
Hi China - the stitch does not determine the cast-on - the project does. What are you making
Hello, how do you start at the very beginning of this scarf? Is it all e-wrap? I really like this and want to make one, but I get hung up on how to start. Thank you for being so kind. Karen

I did for the swatch in the video.. Your project may call for something different.

Darcia Cowart Hey Darcia.. Let's have a link to the Facebook page - would love to see them
Gracias....lo harias bien en Espanol
can you please make a video from the very start. i dont understand how you start. i am new learner.
I love your videos, but this one has a mistake in it, starting @ 2.53. you skip 3 pegs between pegs 6 & 9.
Hope this cleared up any confusion.
m
Yep
You don't finish the details to the end.😠
Elizabeth this is only a stitch pattern and not a project. With a stitch pattern- the designer decides how to start and finish a project. I hope that makes sense if not - here is a more detailed video m.th-cam.com/video/YWjS77zVdaw/w-d-xo.html
I know years have passed since you asked your question... but just in case you still need the answer, and for others with same question, a text written right on her video just before she finishes her row (at 3:35 in her video) she
says, "End row with knit stitches". Hope this helps!
Thank you Denise. The text in your video was very helpful.
What weight yarn did you use? Worsted weughy ,bulky?
She used worsted weight
