FAQs from Comment Threads *Is it necessary to have multiple SSD/hard drives for the Eldergleam install?* No. I use multiple drives to streamline the installation process but this is not a requirement. *Is it necessary to have a premium Nexus account?* It is not a hard requirement to have a premium nexus account to install Eldergleam, however, it is incredibly tedious and time consuming to do it on a free account since each mod will have to be downloaded manually, one-by-one, via a slower download connection. *Will ModOrganizer automatically be installed or will I have to do that manually?* ModOrganizer 2 will be installed automatically as part of the modlist install through Wabbajack.
I tried to install eldergleam 3 times. I nearly lost hope but wanted to give it a try one more time. With this guide i did it! Thank you very much. You made my day!
Just wanted to say a huge "Thank You" for this excellent video - by far the best Eldergleam install video I've seen. I was amazed that Skyrim CC had NOT downloaded all the CC content (despite saying it had!) and your Content Validation program was invaluable - as well as showing us HOW to actually resolve the problem! Wabbajack hung towards the end before completing, so I closed it and ran it again - it picked up where it left off and installed everything beautifully! Your other tips for improving the visuals are also appreciated. After dabbling with Mods as a total beginner I am stunned by the look and feel that Captain Panda's Eldergleam modlist has produced. The individual modders, Capt Panda and yourself are extremely talented and thank you all for giving this game a phenomenal injection of new life - for yet another play through! (Am off to thank Capt Panda and going to tell others about your tutorial!)
i just recently got into actually playing Skyrim myself (finally lol) saw Eldergleam and immedietly wanted to give it a try, having had lots of modding experience in the past. got all buckled down and ready to go, heard 360+ GB and nearly choked on my drink XDDDD i wanna try this so bad, but my PC def cant handle that much more. more power to all you mad lads who can download and run this titan of a modpack! o7
It's honestly amazing how complicated installing mods are to Skyrim considering how old the game is. I really hope Bethesda takes in to consideration the modding community when it comes to ES 6 and just makes it much easier. I HIGHLY recommend upgrading nexus to do this, or it's painfully long. Also, adjusting your paging file size probably only needs to be done if your RAM is less than 32gb. Thank Jebus for this video. Without it, the installation wouldn't be as clean or easy to do.
You are very welcome. I do a lot of game performance testing and have three configurations I generally test with. #1 Threadripper 2950 / 64GB Ram / Nvidia GTX 1080Ti I'd rate the Eldergleam performance abysmal (25-35fps) #2 Intel 8700K / 32GB Ram / Nvidia RTX 3080Ti I'd rate the Eldergleam performance nearly perfect (57-60fps) #3 Intel 14700K / 32GB Ram / NVidia RTX 4090 No complaints and not worth rating really...its 60fps solid. I do play with a vsync lock of 60fps as that tends to look better on the Sony television I usually play games on. Hope thats useful.
I won another one written by me, I'm Brazilian, if I got any words wrong I apologize, it will help me a lot because I really wanted a tutorial like this to play with this mod,
Hey, great tutorial, this is my weekend project. One question: if I follow this tutorial, will MO2 be installed through this flow or should I install & set up MO2 at a specific stage? Say after the clean game has been installed?
Hopefully it turns out to be a successful weekend project. :) Regarding the question about modorganizer, it will be installed as part of the modlist so there is no need to manually install it during the process. Let me know how it works out for you.
@htfiBEEP Another question; does wabbajack have to be in the same directory where I downloaded Skyrim from Steam? Or can I install it on another SSD drive?
@@lawgamer7191 The directory where the wabbajack application sits is independent of the mod source file downloads and the modlist install directory you'll specify in the app right before starting the modlist install. So...feel free to put that wherever you like. :)
Hi, I really need help. I only have 1 SSD and I'm really confused. When I click install in Wabbajack, it opens Nexus and tries to make me install all of the individual mods from Nexus (something like 1500+) even though I downloaded the Modlist - what am I doing wrong?
Let's see if we can get things straightened out for ya. First, regarding the single SSD, that isn't a problem. I demonstrated using multiple drives as a way to optimize download>extract>install routines. You can install this modlist just fine with a single drive assuming it has enough total space, so don't fret about that. Secondly, are you using a free nexus account or a premium account?
Thank you for this video. Its the first time i've managed to download and use a mod list and the game looks incredible so far. I haven't been able to get my playstation controller to work though. Are you able to suggest how i might resolve this issue please?
Greetings! There could be a couple of different reasons for this. Can you open your wabbajack logfile and look for an error related to that failed download and paste it here? I'm curious to see what it says. I've personally experienced this type of error in two scenarios... - The referenced source mod has been deleted altogether so when Wabbajack attempts to download it, it can't, and the modlist install fails - The referenced source mod has been updated, but the modlist hasn't yet incorporated the new mod/mod filename. This can also lead to a Wabbajack install failure To solve both of these errors, the steps are basically the same. 1. Figure out what mod and mod version Wabbajack is trying to install via log file 2. Figure out why the referenced mod is unavailable. Could be author deleted, new version, changed URL, etc 3. Procure a working mod file through other means (Personal library of files/Google/Previous Versions of Mod on Nexus, etc) 4. Place your manually acquired mod file in your designated Wabbajack source mod files directory BEFORE starting the Wabbajack install 5. And if you've placed the right file, the download and hash check in Wabbajack will see that the correct file already exists and will thus not try and redownload it from the non-working link The version of synthesis that Eldergleam v2.2.2 has most recently used in the modlist install is v0.26.0.0. The github page for synthesis is github.com/Mutagen-Modding/Synthesis and the synthesis releases page is github.com/Mutagen-Modding/Synthesis/releases If it were me, I'd walk through the 5 troubleshooting steps, using the referenced github page to manually download any packages I might want to try. A rough cursory look at the github releases, I'd try v0.26 of synthesis on this page github.com/Mutagen-Modding/Synthesis/releases?page=3 I hope something I've responded with is useful. Do let me know how you end up getting it solved. Take care. EDIT: After thinking about your scenario a bit more, I realized that I made an assumption from your description of Wabbajack "getting stuck." In my response, I interpreted getting stuck as an actual failure, which would trigger a log event for you to analyze. However, if you literally mean getting stuck as in wabbajack tries to download the file and just won't complete it, then I wanted to clarify that the troubleshooting steps would be the same, even if there wasn't an explicit log entry written to file. Figured I'd say something since I really do try and avoid making assumptions as often as I can and I realized I made one when reading your comment.
First of All Thank you for the Tutorial. I have the Problem that not all Textures get Loaded. I cant see Spells, Some Trees load realy slow, The Main Menu is only Black and have no Backround, the Skilltree doesnt load... You have a Fix for that or should i try to Reinstall all?
Very strange. I would definitely try and get wabbajack to re-validate the install. The first thing I'd try is to reload everything in wabbajack like you would to start an install, but click the "Verify Install" to see what that found. Regardless of that outcome, I'd probably still try to re-install the whole thing, but I'd be curious to see what information came from the validation first.
Can I change the setup so that screenshots are saved in the actual game root folder instead of in Explore Virtual Folder? Nolvus was setup that way, now everytime I take screenshots with Eldergleam, I need to launch Explore Virtual Folder through MO2 to see my screenshots.
Greetings. I'm not a screenshot guy, so I can't say if there's a preferred way to do what you are inquiring about but here's some observations from the couple of hours I spent trying to achieve a custom screenshot location when using modorganizer. Assuming a pre-condition that the "Printscreen" button is being used to take screenshots in-game AND the cabbage ENB is being used... By default, the eldergleam modlist will create two screenshots when the printscreen button is pressed; one named "ScreenShotxx.png" in the virtual game root directory, and a second screenshot named "enbyyyy_mm_dd_hh_mm_ss.bmp" in virtual root\screenshots". Both of these files will, by default, be present in the overwrite directory of modorganizer. Since the ENB screenshots are all going into the "screenshots" folder, you could create a psuedo output mod in modorganizer, drag the screenshots folder from overwrite into that mod, and then all the new ENB screenshots would go into that folder, in your mods folder, and you could create a desktop shortcut to that folder and have relatively direct access to your screenshots without a need to open modorganizer. You could also go a little fancier here and set up a symlink from this folder to another of your choosing if you wanted to get make them available in a slightly different fashion. To redirect the Skyrim (non-ENB) screenshots, I had first tried to edit the "sScreenShotBaseName" string variable in the eldergleam profile's skyrim.ini file. I couldn't personally get this to work with a folder path specified, but that might be because I'm a noob. I could change the output name, but specifying the path didn't result in the intended outcome. Next, I tried to modify the output path using the BethINI Pie app pointed to the modorganizer profiles, and that didn't work either. Next I tried to directly edit the BethINI Pie json string file that referenced the screenshot path, and this didn't work either. Lastly, I did the following... - Installed the ".Net Script Framework for Skyrim" mod from nexus at www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21294 (this is a pre-req for the Screenshot Location and Metadata mod below) NOTE: The .Net script framework mod is installed as part of the eldergleam modlist, but it is disabled by default. I wanted to install the framework mod from nexus to see if it would work, and it installed the same version (1.8) that comes with eldergleam. So rather than installing the .Net mod like I did, you might be able to just re-enable the framework mod that is already in the modorganizer list. It's in the "29 - PATCHER TOOLS -" separator. - Installed the "Screenshot Location and Metadata" mod from nexus at www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/70770 - Opened "ScreenshotLocationAndMetadata.config.txt" in the mod directory - Set the "ScreenshotDirectory" variable to where I wanted the screenshots to go. I tested a few different directories outside of the modorganizer heirarchy like desktop, a different drive, etc - Enabled both mods in modorganizer - Loaded skryim and took some screenshots using the printscreen button - And they were redirected (moved) to the folder I designated in the mod config file There's also the PhotoMode mod that is part of eldergleam that outputs its screenshots into the textures folder of the virtual root, so you could also create an output mod to link this folder to. To reduce the number of screenshots taken you'd likely have to consider modifying the enblocal.ini file to change the screenshot button to something you didn't use regularly to prevent the doubling up of screenshots, but I did not test this. In terms of compatibility with other mods, I did not extensively test the .net mod or the screenshot location/metadata mod, so you'd have to play around to make sure there weren't any conflicts with other mods. I don't know if any of these options would satisfy your goal of screenshot redirection, but hopefully some bit of that information is helpful.
@@htfiBEEP Okay I take my screenshots with print screen through reshade, I think we could fix my problem by making reshade stay in the root folder. Whenever I put something in Eldergleam/root game, it disappears when I launch MO2. If I can stop that from happening then maybe all my screenshots will show up in the ACTUAL root folder instead of MO2 root folder. You get what I'm trying to say?
I read through the comments to see if you've answered this but couldnt find anyone else having the same issue. the Microsoft Visual C++ keeps telling me Setup Failed "one or more issues caused the setup to fail. Please fix the issues and then retry setup" any way of fixing this?
nvm i figured it out. i already had a version of it installed after checking my control panel. it was also a version from 2010 so i guess its better to update it anyways lmao
hey man! thank you for the video is super usefull! Question for you: i started the installation but the download seems not to be authomatic, it is opening any time the nexusmod website and I have to click "slow download" manually any time. Any clue about that?
@@blissfuleden9008 Are you using a free nexus account? If so, while it is totally possible to complete the install using the slow download option, it would take an enormous amount of time. To make the install much easier, less manual, and relatively quick, I'd recommend spending a few dollars to upgrade to a premium nexus account so that everything will be downloaded automatically and at the much faster speed. If you are already using a premium account, then I'm not sure and we'd have to troubleshoot something else.
Just curious as to whether or not I should keep trying the download. For whatever reason, on different mods, I get an error. It does say, "Next Step : Hashing Archives" before it inevitably results in an error. This particular one stated it was unable to download HD Reworked Tree Bark, lol. Any ideas?
DOH! I would recommend going to www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/81822?tab=files and manually downloading the "HD Remastered Tree Bark - Happy Little Trees 2k" package. It's the one that's roughly 133.5MB and the download filename would be "HD Reworked Tree Bark - Happy Little Trees 2k-81822-3-0-1-1681380752.7z." Place this file in the resource download location you've configured in wabbajack, and then attempt to install the modlist. Let me know if that works for you. EDIT 1: I just tested a fresh install through wabbajack but deleted the file I referenced above beforehand. In my case the file was redownloaded from nexus and the install proceeded. Hopefully in your case, manually placing that file prior to the install will resolve the issue. EDIT 2: Just a heads up that the full modlist install completed successfully. @@htfiBEEP I think something may have went wrong with my downloads prior, for all I did was restart the process. I had a smooth download and installation afterwards. But I see you in these comments helping everyone out, you're the man! Thanks a lot.
Hi I finally downloaded it. Hit run and it opened up the main Eldergleam screen zoomed in not centered and when I hit "New" nothing happens. I have to "End Task" in order to leave. What step did I do wrong how do I get the game to run?
Hi there. By chance, do you output your display at a scaling percentage above 100%? Regarding the observation that nothing happens when you click "New", I suspect that the correct sub-menu is appearing...its just below the visible portion of the screen that you can see.
Hey there brother! for some reason when I try to download it from wabajack it says "error" with every download and eventually stops. This is my second time downloading this and didnt encounter this issue on my first go...not sure whats going on this time. Got any advice?
Well that's no good. Are you having problems with this modlist specifically or by every download do you mean browsing the available modlists in the Wabbajack interface? Any useful entries in the log file itself?
hello mate! Thanks for the video! I have a problem during installation, this message appears after all mods have been downloaded "Error during install of Eldergleam NG- Graphic only (Free CC)"
Hi there. Once the install stops due to the error, if you click the Log button in the lower right corner of the wabbajack interface, open the log file, and scroll to the bottom...what messages do you see? Hopefully there's a clue there that we can work with.
@@vicio_shortshub It sounds like there might be a few different issues so let's try to isolate and focus on each individually. There is a lot of text in the log file, you are right about that. It is organized sequentially though, with the oldest entries at the top of the file and the new entries at the bottom. Assuming you can open the file in at least notepad, scroll to the very bottom of the file and look for, or do a search, for the string "[ERROR]." If the install is bombing out I would expect a line entry to contain that text that would hopefully point us in a direction.
Here's where I was headed with this line of thought. You mentioned that you don't have a "creations" entry on the main menu. If by chance, you had installed the steam game "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim", then the modlist install through wabbajack would fail almost immediately with the log entry: [ERROR] (Wabbajack.InstallerVM) Can't find game SkyrimSpecialEdition|System.Exception: Can't find game SkyrimSpecialEdition at Wabbajack.Downloaders.GameFile.GameLocator.GameLocation(Game game) in E:\oss\wabbajack\Wabbajack.Downloaders.GameFile\GameLocator.cs:line 149 at Wabbajack.InstallerVM.b__138_0() in E:\oss\wabbajack\Wabbajack.App.Wpf\View Models\Installers\InstallerVM.cs:line 544 This version of the Skyrim game is what folks affectionately refer to as Oldrim, and is the non-SE (Special Edition) and non-AE (Anniversary Edition) and it will not work for the eldergleam install. Admittedly, I've not installed the Free-CC version of eldergleam but a handful of times and when I did it was mostly for testing purposes. What I can say about my experience though, is that Wabbajack seems to behave oddly depending on what Steam version(s) of the game you have installed at the same time, the point that the wabbajack application is opened, and something about how wabbajack detects your installed games. To avoid passing along bad information, I just started a fresh installation with these steps... - Download the eldergleam free-cc modlist from nexus - Download wabbajack and let the main app grab version v3.7.3.0 - Install the steam game "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition" - Make sure none of the anniversary edition paid content is installed (the dlc is fully unchecked in steam and I validated the Data directory in the game install folder - Started the wabbajack modlist install - The install failed, and wabbajack logged these errors to the log file [ERROR] (Wabbajack.Installer.StandardInstaller) Missing game file Data_ccbgssse037-curios.bsa. This could be caused by missing DLC or a modified installation. [ERROR] (Wabbajack.Installer.StandardInstaller) Missing game file Data_ccbgssse037-curios.esl. This could be caused by missing DLC or a modified installation. Both of these files were actually present despite wabbajack informing me that they weren't. In my experience this is fairly typical Bethesda behavior. - Deleted both of these files from the Skyrim data directory - Loaded Skyrim using the desktop shortcut - Clicked the creations menu - Searched for rare curios - Opened the rare curios page and clicked download - Once finished downloading, I exited the creations menu and clicked to reload the files once prompted - Exited skyrim - Restarted wabbajack modlist install - And finally, the install started successfully after hashing the source files Since I'm doing a test install for this, I'm using only one drive for the source and install so its going to take a little longer to finish. I'll report back to let you know if it was successful. I realize thats a wall of text, but I hope its useful to you. Take care. EDIT: Quick check in...the Free-CC modlist installed succesfully. Let me know if you're able to make any progress in your situation.
Im stuck at the Eldergleam download file. I did an install and it asked for an override and I did it and it installed but failed. Not sure where I screwed up.
@@htfiBEEP so i got through two installs and both failed. im stuck on the part where i download the modlist and what to do after , the file is not the same as the one in the video. i know i need to create a folder for the install , i think thats where im stuck. funny as i can install Nolvus 5 just fine but cant get eldergleam to install at all
@@terryfredrick5149 That sounds strange for sure. The download filename of the zip I tested from Nexus is "Eldergleam - NG (Full CC)-105778-2-2-2-1725847479.zip", and the filename of the Wabbajack file unpacked from the archive is "Eldergleam - NG (Full CC Edition).wabbajack." These are for the Eldergleam v2.2.2 modlist. At the time I made the video, v2.2.1 was the most recent version available so if you are comparing exact filenames from the video, there would be difference. I'm not sure how much of the output you could fit into a comment, but I'd be very curious to see the output of the Wabbajack log file when it fails. Did you see any clues there as to failure reason?
I'd guess 1.5-3 days of download time. Regarding the while loading message, I've observed this more often in some of the older wabbajack versions and as far as I can tell wabbajack is still working in the background despite the message being shown.
i did want to check im downloading the mod over the slowest internet speed in man kind. but i did see you went into the folder that was created and mod organizer was installed in it already was this due to wabajack?
Greetings! I bid you good luck on the large install over the "slowest internet speed in man kind." That comment made me smile. To answer your question about ModOrganizer, yes, that installation is all part of the modlist install through wabbajack.
@ it all worked out and I was able to play my computer handles everything pretty well but out in the open when I’m fighting a enemy in the wild my game has slight lag spikes do know any mods I could disable to help make my game run a little smoother it doesn’t happen in dungeons only in the open world
@@justsomeguy.8670 Well I'm happy to hear you got it working. In regards to the outdoor lag spikes, you might try... - disabling the grass mod Skoglendi and/or other fauna related mods - if its more prevalent in certain outdoor areas than others, see if there is a 4K texture mod being used that perhaps could be replaced with a 2K version - switch to another enb - disable ENB completely and try community shaders instead - modify ENB settings to try and squeeze a bit more performance overall. some obvious settings you might tinker with would be those related to depth of field, ambient occlusion, reflections, and skylighting...though the availability of some of these settings are located in different areas of the ENB config menus - you could also try switching to the performance profile in modorganizer to see if that makes a difference Let me know if any of those things help. Take care.
Cpt. Panda lists the recommended specs on the nexus page as an i7 9th gen, 16GB Ram/40GB pagefile, and RTX 4070Ti for 70FPS @ 2560x1440. You've got a powerful setup though and even if you are playing on 4K I would imagine you could gain a few more FPS with a combination of trying the performance profile in modorganizer along with some fine tuning of the ENB settings, or trying the community shaders instead of an enb.
@@dzambasz The modlist does include the SSE Engine Fixes mod with the EnableAchievementsWithMods set to true by default. This can be seen/changed by opening the "EngineFixes.toml" file in the mod installation direction. The specific setting is very near the top of the file as... EnableAchievementsWithMods = true # Enables achievements with mods active Now, that said, I have had friends who have experienced some challeneges getting this to work as expected. Not specifically with Eldergleam but rather just in general with Skyrim modding. If that's your experience as well, I'd probably try the Achievements Mods Enabler" mod from nexus @ www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/245
@@htfiBEEP today while I was playing eldergleam, the game crashes several times, I discovered that when I take one poison and then another, the game automatically crashes, also when loading a new position, do you know what the problem might be?
This skips how to get the mods *into* mod organizer. I open it and there are none there. And I have to manually click to install each of the 1700+?? There seems extremely tedious.. I did 100 or so but took so long I gave up.
Greetings. Something is wrong with the install if that's what you are having to do. I've installed this modlist many times and I've never had to manually activate the mods.
@@godskinryoshi1280 That is definitely true. I appreciate you responding with your interpretation. I read Obi's comment as "Ive installed the modlist but now in modorganizer I need to manually install" which I interpretted as enable by clicking the check on each of the installed mods. Apologies for the misinterpretation Obi.
Greetings! It's a great question and in retrospect I could have been clearer in the video on the topic. It's not a hard requirement to have multiple SSDs for the install. You could configure the source and destination folders in Wabbajack to be on the same drive. It's also possible to have all three directories (Skyrim game, Eldergleam source, Eldergleam install) on the same drive...it just isolates the overall storage requirement to a single drive. Hope that helps.
@@norse761 Sorry about that. The lack of clarity on this topic in the video is something I regret. Hopefully the next time I do a video like this I'll do a better job. In the meantime if it helps other folks I've pinned this thread in the comments.
90% of my files aren't done on the creation bit. i checked using your content validator. is there anyway to get them all working again instead of doing it 1 by 1 on the creation menu?
Goodness. I've never had that many fail to be acquired and it would be a pain to have to get that many manually one by one. A few things you could try... 1. Try the "download all in my library" and/or "download all owned mods" from the creation club options menu 2. Disable the Anniversary Upgrade DLC in steam, load the game, exit the game, re-enable the AE DLC in steam, load the game, if automatically prompted to install the content again click download, if you are not prompted, do #1 now 3. Manually delete all of the paid content files you have managed to acquire in the Skyrim data folder, perform a steam verification on your original install files, then try #1 Like I mentioned I've not experienced that many content files not be downloaded, but these are the things I'd try first to improve the situation. If someone else reading this has another idea I'd love to hear it.
@@htfiBEEPappreciate you taking the time to help, I managed to fix it but gosh is the creation tool downloader so broken… that content validator was so handy though for checking the last couple manually tho. Great video and thanks for the support 👍🏻
@ there seemed to be some sort of issue that wasn’t picking up that I owned the ae dlc even though it was ticked and said I did. So Everytime I went to manually download them it was telling me to purchase using credits. I uninstalled the creator tool and reinstalled it. Somehow when I went back on it tried installing again and done the same thing on initial launch but I went in and clicked to download it from the library on the options menu and it then proceeded to do nearly all of them bar a couple which now I could do without it telling me to buy them using credits. I’m not really tech savvy with all this sort of stuff but honestly. The persistence although be it frustrating, hopefully pays off as it’s downloading on wabbajack now. Funny thing is I’ve never played vanilla Skyrim I just wanted my first play through experience to be really good and modernised due to it obviously being an old game.
Do you happen to use a display scaling percentage above 100% in windows? Regarding the screen being bigger than the display...would it be accurate to assume that this presents itself as though you can you see the upper left or upper right corner of the game window but that 1/4 to 1/2 of the screen is cut off?
Sometimes solving these kinds of issues can be challenging due to the permutations of factors that influence the outcome. I'll give some context first and then a suggestion. Generally speaking the heirarchy of display setting configurations with eldergleam is as follows... Skyrim profile INIs (skyrim, skyrimprefs, skyrimcustom...) THEN "SSEDisplayTweaks.ini" located in "pathToEldergleamInstall\mods\SSE Display Tweaks\SKSE\Plugins" THEN "SSEDisplayTweaks_Custom.ini" located in "pathToEldergleamInstall\mods\OSD Font for SSE Display Tweaks\SKSE\Plugins" This means that whatever is in your profile INIs will be superceded by whats in "SSEDisplayTweaks.ini", and whatever is in "SSEDisplayTweaks.ini" will be superceded by whatever is in "SSEDisplayTweaks_Custom.ini". This sequence can also depend on other factors but this is pretty much how it works. Recommendation...decide where you'll want to house your resolution settings and then set... Fullscreen = true Borderless = false Resolution = your resolution Borderless Note: I'm not sure this setting matters since the setting is only applied when "Fullscreen = false" according to the SSEDisplayTweaks mod behavior Resolution Note: 1920x1080, 2560x1440, or 3840x2160 as examples. This setting may not matter unless "Fullscreen = false", since from my testing I've been able to put any combination of numbers here and they seem to have no effect until I change fullscreen to false. To illustrate my point about the resolution heirarchy, if you configured "SSEDisplayTweaks.ini" with... Fullscreen = true Borderless = true Resolution = 3840x2160 And you then configured "SSEDisplayTweaks_Custom.ini" with... [Render] Fullscreen = false Borderless = true Resolution = 1280x720 Your game would load with the 1280x720 (720p), as the values from "SSEDisplayTweaks_Custom.ini" were preferred Hope this helps. Let me know if this works for you or if you need anything else.
Dang. Sorry you're having trouble. To rule out any modlist or mod changes that might cause a problem, I just ran a fresh install and was able to install/load the game. That makes me wonder if the issue in your scenario isn't filesystem related in some way. Are any of the important game directories (Steam install, modlist install, or modlist resource location) in a Program Files path? If your modlist install directory is in Program Files, I'd recommend moving that to another location. Here's a few additional items that you could validate Open ModOrganizer, click "Tools" in the main toolbar, click "Executables...", with "SKSE" selected in the left pane, validate the binary path points to "yourSelectedModlistInstallFolder\mods\Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE64)\Root\skse64_loader.exe" Also in ModOrganizer, click the "Settings" sprocket, click the "Paths" tab, and validate the "Managed Game" path correctly points to "yourSelectedModlistInstallFolder\Game Root\SkyrimSE.exe". Additionally, I'd manually open the "Managed Game" folder in Windows Explorer, and validate that "SkyrimSE.exe" does in fact exist in that directory. You will most definitely see the error you are experiencing if the exe does not exist in that location. I'd start with those validations. Let me know what you find out.
My spidey-sense tells me that it probably wouldn't but its not something I have experience with. Give it a try and see what happens. I'd be curious to know what you discover.
@@Mindboggler123 Gotchya. It's not required to keep these files after installation, however: Pros of Keeping These Files - Easy reinstallation of the full modlist in the future without needing to redownload the files - If you plan to tinker and/or change the modlist configuration in modorganizer, keeping the source mod files will allow for things like re-running fomod installers to select different configuration options Cons of Keeping These Files - Increases the amount of hard drive space dedicated to Skyrim modding Hopefully that answers the question and provides a bit of context.
@htfiBEEP ah I see, also, do you know if legacy of the dragonborn works with this? If not, I'm probably going to delete the temp file as I probably won't tinker with the mod list
@@Mindboggler123 I've not tried that mod yet with eldergleam but I intend to in the future. It won't hurt to give it a try and see since you can easily install/enable/disable in modorganizer. If you do end up trying it, I'd love to hear how it went for you though.
Hi. There are three modlist files on nexus and their requirement of anniversary edition is... Eldergleam - NG (Full CC) Requires paid AE content Eldergleam NG - Graphics Only (Free CC) Does not require paid AE content Eldergleam NG - Graphics Only (Full CC) Requires paid AE content
Greetings. It's just a requirement of the mods the modlist creator chose to include. On the nexusmods page for Eldergleam, the top option labeled "Eldergleam - NG (Full CC)", is designated as being for the Anniversary Edition of the game, and I suspect the the "Full CC" refers to the "Full Paid Anniversary Edition Creation Club Content" though I'm not sure if this is explictly stated anywhere. That's the version of the modlist I made this video for. Below that file, also on the nexusmods page, is the "Eldergleam NG - Graphics Only (Free CC)" option. That package is listed as being made for Skyrim Special Edition and I would think the "Free CC" refers to the "Free Special Edition Creation Club Content." That's how I'd interpret the information in the Files tab of the modlist, despite what seems to be some contradictory verbiage.
I decided to test the install and wanted to share my results. Steps - Installed Skyrim Special Edition in Steam - Right clicked the game entry in the library, properties, DLC, uncheck anniversary edition content (to ensure that only the free special edition content is downloaded) - Downloaded the "Graphics Only (Free CC)" Eldergleam file from nexusmods - Attempted Wabbajack install - FYI the four data packages the modlist expects are: Rare Curios ccbgssse037-curios.esl ccbgssse037-curios.bsa Survival Mode Data_ccqdrsse001-survivalmode.bsa Data_ccqdrsse001-survivalmode.esl Fishing Data_ccbgssse001-fish.bsa Data_ccbgssse001-fish.esm Saints and Seducers Data_ccbgssse025-advdsgs.bsa Data_ccbgssse025-advdsgs.esm - Modlist install failed due to missing ccbgssse037-curios.esl and ccbgssse037-curios.bsa, despite both of these files being present in the Skyrim Data directory - I deleted both files manually, reloaded Skyrim, went to Creations, manually searched for "Rare Curios", reinstalled the package - Started Wabbajack install again, and the modlist installed successfully In summary... - The "Graphics Only (Free CC)" Eldergleam file from nexusmods does not require the paid Anniversary Edition content and will install with the base Special Edition content - The modlist install encountered a problem with the Rare Curios files that was solved with a manual download through the creations menu Hope that information is useful.
FAQs from Comment Threads
*Is it necessary to have multiple SSD/hard drives for the Eldergleam install?*
No. I use multiple drives to streamline the installation process but this is not a requirement.
*Is it necessary to have a premium Nexus account?*
It is not a hard requirement to have a premium nexus account to install Eldergleam, however, it is incredibly tedious and time consuming to do it on a free account since each mod will have to be downloaded manually, one-by-one, via a slower download connection.
*Will ModOrganizer automatically be installed or will I have to do that manually?*
ModOrganizer 2 will be installed automatically as part of the modlist install through Wabbajack.
I tried to install eldergleam 3 times. I nearly lost hope but wanted to give it a try one more time. With this guide i did it! Thank you very much. You made my day!
Awesomesauce! Glad it helped. Enjoy.
Very well done, I appreciate the time you took to carefully explain every little detail.
Thank you for the compliment.
Yoo thanks for this!! I am posting it on the article page :)
Thanks to you for the massive time and effort you've put into this excellent curation of mods. You really have done something special.
i just recently got into actually playing Skyrim myself (finally lol) saw Eldergleam and immedietly wanted to give it a try, having had lots of modding experience in the past. got all buckled down and ready to go, heard 360+ GB and nearly choked on my drink XDDDD i wanna try this so bad, but my PC def cant handle that much more. more power to all you mad lads who can download and run this titan of a modpack! o7
This was the most helpful tutorial I've ever seen. Thank you so much. Easiest sub ever.
Best tutorial that i have seen for Wabbajack lists, even though im Skyrim modding veteran.
Without it, the installation wouldn't be as clean or easy to do.
strong ! thanks a lot mate, big thank you from france !
Wow, excellent walkthrough. Thanks for the effort!
This was great, thank you!
As Arnold said in Terminator 2...no problemo. :)
Great video. Appreciate it bro. May I ask what your PC specs are?
You are very welcome. I do a lot of game performance testing and have three configurations I generally test with.
#1
Threadripper 2950 / 64GB Ram / Nvidia GTX 1080Ti
I'd rate the Eldergleam performance abysmal (25-35fps)
#2
Intel 8700K / 32GB Ram / Nvidia RTX 3080Ti
I'd rate the Eldergleam performance nearly perfect (57-60fps)
#3
Intel 14700K / 32GB Ram / NVidia RTX 4090
No complaints and not worth rating really...its 60fps solid.

I have a question, when installing mods through Wabbajack, does it already install the organize mod?
You are correct. Modorganizer will be installed as part of the modlist install through wabbajack.
@@htfiBEEP Thank you very much
Hi, I really need help.
Hey man my wabbajack after trying to install this js stuck on downloading synthesis.zip any clue how to fix that?
Greetings! There could be a couple of different reasons for this. Can you open your wabbajack logfile and look for an error related to that failed download and paste it here? I'm curious to see what it says.
I've personally experienced this type of error in two scenarios...
- The referenced source mod has been deleted altogether so when Wabbajack attempts to download it, it can't, and the modlist install fails
- The referenced source mod has been updated, but the modlist hasn't yet incorporated the new mod/mod filename. This can also lead to a Wabbajack install failure
To solve both of these errors, the steps are basically the same.
1. Figure out what mod and mod version Wabbajack is trying to install via log file
2. Figure out why the referenced mod is unavailable. Could be author deleted, new version, changed URL, etc
3. Procure a working mod file through other means (Personal library of files/Google/Previous Versions of Mod on Nexus, etc)
4. Place your manually acquired mod file in your designated Wabbajack source mod files directory BEFORE starting the Wabbajack install
5. And if you've placed the right file, the download and hash check in Wabbajack will see that the correct file already exists and will thus not try and redownload it from the non-working link
The version of synthesis that Eldergleam v2.2.2 has most recently used in the modlist install is v0.26.0.0.
The github page for synthesis is github.com/Mutagen-Modding/Synthesis and the synthesis releases page is github.com/Mutagen-Modding/Synthesis/releases
If it were me, I'd walk through the 5 troubleshooting steps, using the referenced github page to manually download any packages I might want to try. A rough cursory look at the github releases, I'd try v0.26 of synthesis on this page github.com/Mutagen-Modding/Synthesis/releases?page=3
I hope something I've responded with is useful.
This is probably because of pressing "Unlock" when running SKSE
@@CaptPanda I havent pressed Unlock. I Delete everything and reinstall Skyrim,Wabbajck and the mod now it works perfect :).
- Installed the "Screenshot Location and Metadata" mod from nexus at www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/70770
- Opened "ScreenshotLocationAndMetadata.config.txt" in the mod directory
- Set the "ScreenshotDirectory" variable to where I wanted the screenshots to go. I tested a few different directories outside of the modorganizer heirarchy like desktop, a different drive, etc
- Enabled both mods in modorganizer
- Loaded skryim and took some screenshots using the printscreen button
- And they were redirected (moved) to the folder I designated in the mod config file
There's also the PhotoMode mod that is part of eldergleam that outputs its screenshots into the textures folder of the virtual root, so you could also create an output mod to link this folder to.
Or I can just change the save location of the screenshots through reshade settings, I'm so dumb hahaha.
I read through the comments to see if you've answered this but couldnt find anyone else having the same issue. the Microsoft Visual C++ keeps telling me Setup Failed "one or more issues caused the setup to fail. Please fix the issues and then retry setup" any way of fixing this?

hey man! thank you for the video is super usefull! Question for you: i started the installation but the download seems not to be authomatic, it is opening any time the nexusmod website and I have to click "slow download" manually any time. Any clue about that?
I am installing the special edition version :)
Hopefully in your case, manually placing that file prior to the install will resolve the issue.

@@htfiBEEP oh boy, there is a bunch of text... also I do not have the "creations" option on the screen menu...
If by chance, you had installed the steam game "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim", then the modlist install through wabbajack would fail almost immediately with the log entry:
[ERROR] (Wabbajack.InstallerVM) Can't find game SkyrimSpecialEdition|System.Exception: Can't find game SkyrimSpecialEdition

at Wabbajack.InstallerVM.b__138_0() in E:\oss\wabbajack\Wabbajack.App.Wpf\View Models\Installers\InstallerVM.cs:line 544
This version of the Skyrim game is what folks affectionately refer to as Oldrim, and is the non-SE (Special Edition) and non-AE (Anniversary Edition) and it will not work for the eldergleam install.
- Download the eldergleam free-cc modlist from nexus
- Download wabbajack and let the main app grab version v3.7.3.0
- Install the steam game "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition"
- Make sure none of the anniversary edition paid content is installed (the dlc is fully unchecked in steam and I validated the Data directory in the game install folder
- Started the wabbajack modlist install
- The install failed, and wabbajack logged these errors to the log file
[ERROR] (Wabbajack.Installer.StandardInstaller) Missing game file Data_ccbgssse037-curios.bsa.
- Deleted both of these files from the Skyrim data directory
- Loaded Skyrim using the desktop shortcut
- Clicked the creations menu
- Searched for rare curios
- Opened the rare curios page and clicked download
- Once finished downloading, I exited the creations menu and clicked to reload the files once prompted
- Exited skyrim
- Restarted wabbajack modlist install
- And finally, the install started successfully after hashing the source files
Since I'm doing a test install for this, I'm using only one drive for the source and install so its going to take a little longer to finish. I'll report back to let you know if it was successful.
I realize thats a wall of text, but I hope its useful to you. Take care.

@@terryfredrick5149 That sounds strange for sure. The download filename of the zip I tested from Nexus is "Eldergleam - NG (Full CC)-105778-2-2-2-1725847479.zip", and the filename of the Wabbajack file unpacked from the archive is "Eldergleam - NG (Full CC Edition).wabbajack." I'm not sure how much of the output you could fit into a comment, but I'd be very curious to see the output of the Wabbajack log file when it fails. Did you see any clues there as to failure reason?
Why does wabajack keep displaying “while loading slide” and how long will this mode take without nexus premium?
I'd guess 1.5-3 days of download time. Regarding the while loading message, I've observed this more often in some of the older wabbajack versions and as far as I can tell wabbajack is still working in the background despite the message being shown.
i did want to check im downloading the mod over the slowest internet speed in man kind. but i did see you went into the folder that was created and mod organizer was installed in it already was this due to wabajack?

@ it all worked out and I was able to play my computer handles everything pretty well but out in the open when I’m fighting a enemy in the wild my game has slight lag spikes do know any mods I could disable to help make my game run a little smoother it doesn’t happen in dungeons only in the open world
@@justsomeguy.8670 Well I'm happy to hear you got it working. In regards to the outdoor lag spikes, you might try...
- disabling the grass mod Skoglendi and/or other fauna related mods
- if its more prevalent in certain outdoor areas than others, see if there is a 4K texture mod being used that perhaps could be replaced with a 2K version
- switch to another enb
- disable ENB completely and try community shaders instead
- modify ENB settings to try and squeeze a bit more performance overall. some obvious settings you might tinker with would be those related to depth of field, ambient occlusion, reflections, and skylighting...though the availability of some of these settings are located in different areas of the ENB config menus
- you could also try switching to the performance profile in modorganizer to see if that makes a difference
Let me know if any of those things help. Take care.

You've got a powerful setup though and even if you are playing on 4K I would imagine you could gain a few more FPS with a combination of trying the performance profile in modorganizer along with some fine tuning of the ENB settings, or trying the community shaders instead of an enb.
@htfiBEEP does this list contain a mod to unlock achievements, if not is eldergleam compatible with it?
@@dzambasz The modlist does include the SSE Engine Fixes mod with the EnableAchievementsWithMods set to true by default. This can be seen/changed by opening the "EngineFixes.toml" file in the mod installation direction. The specific setting is very near the top of the file as...
EnableAchievementsWithMods = true # Enables achievements with mods active
Now, that said, I have had friends who have experienced some challeneges getting this to work as expected.
You need to have a premium nexus account for it to auto download. If you are using free account then you have to download all these mod manually.
What if I don’t have another Drive? Another SSD? :( sorry I’m a PC noob. I only have a local drive 😅
@@htfiBEEP i had the same question thanks!
@@htfiBEEP Yeah that could have been a lot clearer. Thank's for taking the time to respond to OP. I was also wondering if I needed 3 drives total.
1. Try the "download all in my library" and/or "download all owned mods" from the creation club options menu
2. Disable the Anniversary Upgrade DLC in steam, load the game, exit the game, re-enable the AE DLC in steam, load the game, if automatically prompted to install the content again click download, if you are not prompted, do #1 now
3. Manually delete all of the paid content files you have managed to acquire in the Skyrim data folder, perform a steam verification on your original install files, then try #1
Like I mentioned I've not experienced that many content files not be downloaded, but these are the things I'd try first to improve the situation.
@@CaimenBrogan That's great to hear. What did you do that ultimately got it resolved?
I got the game to launch but the screen is bigger than my display
Do you happen to use a display scaling percentage above 100% in windows? Regarding the screen being bigger than the display...would it be accurate to assume that this presents itself as though you can you see the upper left or upper right corner of the game window but that 1/4 to 1/2 of the screen is cut off?
Sometimes solving these kinds of issues can be challenging due to the permutations of factors that influence the outcome. I'll give some context first and then a suggestion.
Generally speaking the heirarchy of display setting configurations with eldergleam is as follows...
Skyrim profile INIs (skyrim, skyrimprefs, skyrimcustom...)
THEN "SSEDisplayTweaks.ini" located in "pathToEldergleamInstall\mods\SSE Display Tweaks\SKSE\Plugins"
THEN "SSEDisplayTweaks_Custom.ini" located in "pathToEldergleamInstall\mods\OSD Font for SSE Display Tweaks\SKSE\Plugins"
This means that whatever is in your profile INIs will be superceded by whats in "SSEDisplayTweaks.ini", and whatever is in "SSEDisplayTweaks.ini" will be superceded by whatever is in "SSEDisplayTweaks_Custom.ini".
This sequence can also depend on other factors but this is pretty much how it works.
Recommendation...decide where you'll want to house your resolution settings and then set...
Fullscreen = true
Borderless = false
Resolution = your resolution
Borderless Note: I'm not sure this setting matters since the setting is only applied when "Fullscreen = false" according to the SSEDisplayTweaks mod behavior
Resolution Note: 1920x1080, 2560x1440, or 3840x2160 as examples. This setting may not matter unless "Fullscreen = false", since from my testing I've been able to put any combination of numbers here and they seem to have no effect until I change fullscreen to false.
To illustrate my point about the resolution heirarchy, if you configured "SSEDisplayTweaks.ini" with...
Fullscreen = true
Borderless = true
Resolution = 3840x2160
And you then configured "SSEDisplayTweaks_Custom.ini" with...
[Render]
Fullscreen = false
Borderless = true
Resolution = 1280x720
Your game would load with the 1280x720 (720p), as the values from "SSEDisplayTweaks_Custom.ini" were preferred
Hope this helps. Let me know if this works for you or if you need anything else.
i followed the Tutorial but when i hit play it tells me that it cant find the Skyrim SE.exe
Here's a few additional items that you could validate
Open ModOrganizer, click "Tools" in the main toolbar, click "Executables...", with "SKSE" selected in the left pane, validate the binary path points to "yourSelectedModlistInstallFolder\mods\Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE64)\Root\skse64_loader.exe"
Also in ModOrganizer, click the "Settings" sprocket, click the "Paths" tab, and validate the "Managed Game" path correctly points to "yourSelectedModlistInstallFolder\Game Root\SkyrimSE.exe".
@@htfiBEEPi just deleted everything in my ElderGleam File and then let wabbajack reinstall it, that helped
@@Sliver1195 Excellent. Glad to hear.
bro i downloaded skyrim anniversary edition from dodi as cracked will the mod work
My spidey-sense tells me that it probably wouldn't but its not something I have experience with. Give it a try and see what happens. I'd be curious to know what you discover.
Thanks!
can you delete the temp file?
What temp file are you referring to? Do you mean the mod source files that are downloaded from nexus or something else?
@htfiBEEP the one we created in the editor drive called eldergleam temp
@@Mindboggler123 Gotchya. It's not required to keep these files after installation, however:
Pros of Keeping These Files
- Easy reinstallation of the full modlist in the future without needing to redownload the files
- If you plan to tinker and/or change the modlist configuration in modorganizer, keeping the source mod files will allow for things like re-running fomod installers to select different configuration options
Cons of Keeping These Files
- Increases the amount of hard drive space dedicated to Skyrim modding
Hopefully that answers the question and provides a bit of context.
If you do end up trying it, I'd love to hear how it went for you though.
i only have one ssd ☹
do you need the anniversary edition
Hi. There are three modlist files on nexus and their requirement of anniversary edition is...
Eldergleam - NG (Full CC)
Requires paid AE content
Eldergleam NG - Graphics Only (Free CC)
Does not require paid AE content
Eldergleam NG - Graphics Only (Full CC)
Requires paid AE content
@@htfiBEEP Thanks
Can the game be put in Spanish?
why do i need to buy the anniversary upgrade
That package is listed as being made for Skyrim Special Edition and I would think the "Free CC" refers to the "Free Special Edition Creation Club Content."
That's how I'd interpret the information in the Files tab of the modlist, despite what seems to be some contradictory verbiage.
I decided to test the install and wanted to share my results.
Steps
- Installed Skyrim Special Edition in Steam
- Right clicked the game entry in the library, properties, DLC, uncheck anniversary edition content (to ensure that only the free special edition content is downloaded)
- Downloaded the "Graphics Only (Free CC)" Eldergleam file from nexusmods
- Attempted Wabbajack install
- FYI the four data packages the modlist expects are:
Rare Curios
ccbgssse037-curios.esl
ccbgssse037-curios.bsa
Survival Mode
Data_ccqdrsse001-survivalmode.bsa
Data_ccqdrsse001-survivalmode.esl
Fishing
Data_ccbgssse001-fish.bsa
Data_ccbgssse001-fish.esm
Saints and Seducers
Data_ccbgssse025-advdsgs.bsa
Data_ccbgssse025-advdsgs.esm
- Modlist install failed due to missing ccbgssse037-curios.esl and ccbgssse037-curios.bsa, despite both of these files being present in the Skyrim Data directory
- I deleted both files manually, reloaded Skyrim, went to Creations, manually searched for "Rare Curios", reinstalled the package
- Started Wabbajack install again, and the modlist installed successfully
In summary...
- The "Graphics Only (Free CC)" Eldergleam file from nexusmods does not require the paid Anniversary Edition content and will install with the base Special Edition content
- The modlist install encountered a problem with the Rare Curios files that was solved with a manual download through the creations menu
Hope that information is useful.
