- Lauri Markkanen is staying with the Utah Jazz with a new extension and cannot be traded until the 2025 NBA offseason... but we know have details on why he wasn't traded, and what the Warriors, Kings, and Spurs offered in exchange.
#markkanentrade #laurimarkkanen #nbatrade
What I think a lot of fans don’t get is that golden state has made a decision to punt on the rest of the old core’s remaining competitive years. They don’t seem to believe in Curry and Draymond. If they did they’d actually trade away what needs to be traded to bring in difference makers. Their moves do not seem to indicate they’re going all in; it indicates they’re just trying to make small tweaks and reinvent themselves around the new guys. It’s the whole two timelines thing. It’s a shame bc Steph was in mvp form for a hot minute after 2022 and they totally whiffed on the opportunity to build on that
Also, I think they secretly wish they could trade Draymond and Steph and tank because they know thats the method to future rebuilding success. They have every single draft pick in the next 7 years to trade and they refuse to trade any of them because they think they will not be a playoff team with Steph, and once he retires/leaves they will be much worse than that. From an organizational standpoint, great decision, from a loyalty to your biggest star standpoint, they obviously are already looking past Steph and his Warriors era
GS made the right choice. Steph is no longer THAT guy. He can be on any given night, but for 82 games + playoffs, 2022 was pure greatness. But, he is 36 now. Just facts. What GS couldn't do is empty the cupboard, and give Utah years of lottery picks.
@@johnreesekl6249 steph now is better than the current finals map Jaylon brown, he can definitely be the number 1 on a championship team. Steph is still a top 5-7 guy. yes he cant carry a shit team the whole regular season long. but with a good supporting cast and with Lauri the warriors would have a good chance and they will definitely compete. image Steph, with wiggins back in 2022 form, kuminga improving from last year, Draymond will regress a bit But he is still a great defender and regained his hooting ability and Lauri markenen a serious number two scorer who spaces the floor and can play centre. this lineup has 4 20 point scorers if Wiggins returns otherwise 3. And it's a tall lineup to combat the big teams, with a 5 out offense to combat the celtics and thunder and it has wing defenders, an elite point guard and a great defensive anchor. the only thing we needed to give up are some picks, pods, moody and some salery filler. pods is a good player but he will never be on steph's level neither is moody and the picks wont do shit when Steph retires. Steph is a once in a generation player.
i hate what you say but your telling the truth. I wish the warriors would think and give Steph (the whole reason that there organization is valuable) another chance ad ring 5, its also there best shot ad 5 in general. the future league is stacked, wemby, ant, Paulo, ja, fox, shai, Luka, Hali, scotty, Mobly. all will be better than kuminga and pods. trading pods is a casualty we need to take he ain't bringimg us near a chip. in 3 seasons pods might be a lower level all star or a good role-player same with kuminga and those two aint beating the young superteam thunder or alien wemby. we do we rather have a mid future and a bad chance now than a great chance now and a bad future. I just cant get why tf did we not trade pods. if he doesn't become prime CP3 2.0 im Boeing him from than on
@@johnreesekl6249 I think it boils down to how no team wants to be in purgatory, where they’re too good to tank but not good enough to compete for a title. I do believe Steph can still perform as a 1A/1B star on a title contending team… but the reality is he needs a lot of support, and I think the front office of the dubs has made a decision that it will require more assets to build that support than they’d like to use up/spend. Too much has to go right in terms of trades/roster building to rebuild around Steph and too much has to go right for them to still somehow be competitive at the highest level. Personally I think they’d be better off just trading Steph at this point to another team that can compete with him and cashing out the assets and going all in on a rebuild. That’s better than wasting what little of him being a top tier player he has left
Lauri wanted to be in Utah! Not many players want to play in a small market, but Lauri seems to be super happy there! This is why Lauri waited until today to sign his extension, so he can stay in Utah all next season. This was Lauri choice to what day he would sign. Lauri is the perfect fit for Utah as their frontman. Great day for Jazz fans.
I don’t believe Danny Ainge was shopping Lauri. He was just listening to offers!
BTW, sux it Bulls Organization. You had him, miss used him and drafted Patrick Williams to take the four spot from Lauri. Stuck having to resign Patrick or it would look worse for moving on from Lauri! Now get Dalen Terry over to my Spurs since you don’t know use a Swiss Army knife/glue type player either. No need to repeat your Lauri history with Dalen Terry!
But that's the thing, because "not many players want to play in a small market"(not many want to play/stay in Utah for that matter 😂) it was the perfect thing to say, on Markkanen's part.
Him saying that he wants to stay in Utah, tremendously increased his value. He knew that the Jazz were going to offer him the absolute max contract that is available to him right now.
Whereas, if he went to a contender this off season, the team he would have went to would have probably told him to wait till after next season to negotiate his contract (to help the roster currently win with his 18m deal).
So, Markkanen gets his bag, plays another 1-2 years in Utah, and while Utah is still trying to rebuild or figure it out, he can easily request a trade to an actual contender 😂
It probably won't be the warriors in that time, but it could be OKC, or maybe an up coming team in the east that's 1 piece away from contending.
@@berserkmonk5331 You have no knowledge what you talk abt. Lauri is Finnish. If he says something, he do mean it. He dont say things just for make someone else happy or increase the odds to get bigger contract. Lauri really like to stay in utah, he have family and its a big thing start to move fam. You know, school and friends are big things for kids. Plus he likes Will Hardy who is awesome coach imo. Lauri dont ask for trade if he sign contract with someone. That is what contract mean to 99% of Finnish people. If he get traded its because Ainge, not because Lauri ask for it. Ofc Lauri want to win, but he will respect his contract with jazz no matter what.
My prediction is that if jazz failed get top 5 pick in next draft, then Ainge may trade him because it mean more tank years to come. But if they get Flagg (or 2nd pick), then they may be contender before Lauris contract end.
Everyone outside of Utah keeps using the terms “trying to trade” “looking to deal”. When in reality we only ever were going to if you wanted to give us your entire future. We didn’t offer Lauri, we left our gate open and said come and knock on our door. lol we weren’t actively looking to move him ever this off season.
This is false the jazz were not trying to trade him they were just listening to what people had to offer
Then why they took this long for the extension?. They could have extended him 2 seasons ago, last season. Left it on the last day for extension. 🤔
That's alotta listening 😭😭😭😭
@@javierlandaverde4108 No you're wrong on the dates. You could only renegotiate and extend on August 6th. So they were probably in agreement to do that a year ago, they were just reviewing if anyone was crazy enough to pay a Mikel Bridges trade package for Lauri. They couldn't have renegotiated his current deal until yesterday, and a day later he signed. So this is on track exactly
@@javierlandaverde4108 No, they could not.
@@javierlandaverde4108 you obviously dont understand contract renegotiations lmao
As Jazz fan. I'm happy we have him back. He wants to be in Utah. They helped him grow as a player. I'm tried of bigger markets fans thinking Jazz are their farm team. Jazz have young players to grow with Lauri moving forward. Plus Step Curry is 36. His basketball journey is almost over.
Draft Lottery odds suck Atlanta and Houston were in the top three had better records than Jazz ended up in the top three. Detroit had the worst record end up with fifth. Which means 48% chance with worst record you are fifth. You are not guaranteed anything. I think a lot of sport media was pulling for this trade for bigger markets. My opinion. Because the Jazz were not shopping Lauri Markanan they were listening.
Just a dumb bystander here, but shouldn't there only be two options here?
Option 1) Trade Steph & Draymond for young players and a ton of picks while they still have value. Tank on purpose. Start picking high lottery to build your future team.
Option 2) Trade young players and picks to bring a player good enough to help them compete for a championship these next few "Steph's window" years.
Waiting for Steph, Draymond, and others just to age out without getting better seems like a terrible idea to me.
In theory yes but it's not easy trading your aging franchise player who has literally built your franchise from Mediocrity to one of the best dynasties of all time. Steph is in the same realm as a Duncan, Kobe, Dirk. At this point you let him ride it out and become a mentor to the young guys.
@@grandpa203 the NBA is a business and sentimentality only applies to the fans. Ainge traded his best Boston players (Pierce, etc.) and got the best value. Fans will forgive the Front Office and cheer the new guys. And Boston competed and became champs again in a very short time.
Jazz were not trying to trade Lauri. They would have traded him if they got an offer like OKC did with SGA and picks for George.
What was GSW thought process here? What was more important? Maximizing the championship window of Steph Curry? Or their future? It was really this simple, and is sounds like GSW said good bye to that championship window.
No, there are still options for the warriors. I wouldn't trade away valuable bench pieces now that might turn into great players in a couple years plus multiple first round picks for one year of Lauri markannen on a good contract. Lauri is a good player, but there was no way anyone was going to match their asking price.
They chose to be in purgatory
@@crumblelord1302 Lol, the Warriors were never trading for one year of Markannen. If he got traded, it would be with an agreement to extend, like Siakem in Indy.
@@crumblelord1302 If you think a 38 year old Steph is gonna be a title leader in two years when their young players become "great players" you're really off. He had basically this year and that's it. He's already on the decline based on last year and the olympics
@@crumblelord1302 Main trade pieces were Jonathan K and Brandon P and picks. Any trade scenario for Lauri M would be contingent on Lauri M signing long term. Lauri M would've been the biggest trade piece price this off season. I would imagine Utah will not accept less than 5 draft picks for him, since Gobert went for 5 draft picks. Who else is out there who has the same potential as Lauri M and Paul G? Don't think Levin will move the needle. Branden I is interesting, but supposedly GSW is not interested in him. To me this is just the price for a championship. Basically championship or bust. GSW couldn't afford it. Good bye Championship window. Might as well trade Steph C, if this was your train of thought. Or keep him, to keep butts in the seats.
Lauri Markkanen is Utah's best player, an All Star. It was absolutely amazing to me the CRAP that teams were trying to offer Utah for him. It was just so laughable. It was like they thought Utah management was stupid. "Just throw a few draft picks and a low-end player at Utah and Utah will give up their stars." The bottom line is that NO TEAM even came CLOSE to offering Utah what Markkanen was worth.
I agree. Teams like GSW were being arrogant tricks about it, offering jackshit. As for Utah, they gave up too much cap space. In the 2nd apron era, they shouldn't have given a 2nd option Type player a max
They were betting that Utah is desperate to offload Lauri this offseason to better their tanking. But an analysis of the Utah lineup, compared to the other teams shows that they not much better team that the others. Give Lauri and the other vets just 20-25 minutes of play each game, play the young ones major minutes, and presto, tanking mode. Add the fact that the West is murder row and the Jazz can be looking at 3rd to 5th lottery seed. Trade Collins, Sexton and Clarkson and the tank gets much better.
The Warriors have a lot of balls. Not a lot of brains, but a lot of balls in trying to trade for Lauri and thinking that giving up bum ass Mosey Moody and 2nd round picks is enough. Which GM other than Billy King would be stupid enough to do that?
Warriors offered no players of value. Easy decision.
Realistically they should have taken the picks in 3-4 years. Cause Warriors without Steph, but with Lauri is not a good team. They should have gotten like 2 first round picks and then 3 swaps and they could have benefited a ton from that. Especially if they warriors didn't figure out how to maximize lauri and steph at the same time. They would have still been a terrible defensive rebound team
@@blablablaa14 Maybe out of those picks they could find someone almost as good as Lauri. Picks are like lottery tickets, Lauri is a known entity.
@@kitoyobeni1 a known mediocre entity when it comes to stars. You realize he's likely never getting an all star selection again? The west just gets better every year
@@blablablaa14 Yet the Warriors weren't willing to give up lesser players like Podz in trade. That said, I don't think Ainge had any intention of trading him unless he was blown away. He was just stringing the Warriors along.
@@kitoyobeni1 Podz is also very overrated by Golden State, I don't see why they think he will drastically improve from his rookie year. He has faults that aren't going away. Ainge should have gone for more picks and less players
The difference between "trying to" and "willing to" is big. Utah would have traded Lauri. No one made an offer that was close. Reports suggest that the Warriors' offers were not seriously considered by Utah--and that the national reports on "sticking points" were inaccurate.
He was never getting traded. I'm sick of people talking about it. The reason why the golden state was never trading their future away.
The jazz were not trying to shop Lauri. They came out and said that multiple times. It was just that if someone presented a package substantial enough, they would be willing to move him.
What most people don’t get is that Danny Ainge didn’t wanna trade him, he wanted to put him out there to see if any team would take the bait for him. Most teams did and that’s when Danny wanted to see what they would offer for him. He’s part of the building future with the jazz. If there was an offer that’ Danny couldn’t refuse that’s when jazz would trade him but nobody met that offer. The contract was already guaranteed that’s what most people didn’t see
He did the same thing back in Boston
Jazz fan here and just my perspective on the picks from GS that would have come back in the lauri trade. If they traded lauri any swaps the jazz have in the next 5 years including GS swaps throw those in the garbage because the jazz are probably going to be bottom 5 for at least three if not more years depending on the lottery. And if GS gets to keep all their young players and gets a 27 year old all star I don’t see them being anywhere close to the lottery for the next 5-6 years unless they have a year with horrible injury luck. Which only helps the jazz if that year is one they have the pick and not a swap. Also I’m guessing if the deal was made the picks past 2029 would be protected.
The jazz don’t need anymore mediocre picks they have plenty of those from min and Cleveland. And with the lottery odds flattening I’m totally ok with the jazz being the 6th or 7 worst team this year and honestly if they limit minutes and or pull guys I could see them being in the bottom 5 even with Lauri on the team.
Warriors fan here and your perspective is 100% correct. Dubs were not going to mortgage the future for Lauri because they know that Steph and Draymond's time is coming to an end soon and they need the pieces in the future to keep going. Continuing improvements from the young guys like Podz and JoKu and partnering with Lauri would've made the Dubs an interesting team in the post Steph/Dray era. But that does nothing for Ainge.
I do think the Jazz will regret asking for so much for Lauri. Ainge was trying to do a second iteration of the KG/Pierce to the Nets trade but the Dubs aren't that desperate. Unless the Jazz decide to trade every vet not named Lauri, the Jazz are going to be just good enough to challenge for the play-in or maybe the 6th seed at best but nowhere near bad enough to try to get a good pick. That's NBA purgatory and no one wants to be there unless you're riding off a nostalgia high like the Dubs are right now lol.
@@akamikedavid I think you might be underestimating the west and over estimating the jazz they barely won 31 games last year and we got worse trading olynick and Simone at the trade deadline two important vet rotation players. Also the west got way better the jazz are going to be 14th in the west this year and maybe bottom 6 if they restrict minutes and DNP enough.
I've seen this in the past when the Lakers held onto Talen Horton-Tucker. Now, the Warriors are thinking the same with Podz!
Graças a Deus ele ficou no meu JAZZ! O time deve ser reconstruir em torno dele!
Warriors made the right decision I’m not trading away future assets just to be a second round exit not to mention Kuminga is the future of the team I’m wouldn’t give him up in any trade at all
Then, welcome back to purgatory in 2025
@@javigar133purgatory is being not bad enough to get a top 10 pick and not good enough to compete. Thats what markennen would do
Lauri is clear 2 player in winning team and teams should’ve hunted for him more! I believe teams didn’t want to trade without guaranteed long term.
@@AlexCruz-zf1qn maybe the teams thought they were better off with what they had. They saw what happened to the Nets, Clippers and Suns
Why would the warriors try to “protect future assets” really just doing anything they can to waste the last few great steph years
@@cheap272 Wiseman didn't work out. They traded Poole.
It doesn't sound like a team protecting their future assets. There's probably a trade out there for them to make, it's just not visible right now because it's the offseason
Waste? Steph already has 4 rings its time to tank and get a good draft pick in this years stacked draft
@@ColdHoopsYes the trade was Podz and filler for Lauri.
@@Byronic19134 When I said there's a trade out there, I wasn't talking about Lauri...
GSW seem to see something in Podziemski. He could be the future of the franchise being a multi time all-star. He could also just be a 12-15ppg 3-4ast per game role player that adds spacing to the team. It's too early for me personally to say but GSW certainly doesn't want to part with him anytime soon.
@@EAZYMONEYSNIPER7 What do you mean could? He is their future PG. He's the face of franchise after Curry.
Unless you're implying Warriors trade him for an established PG post Curry's retirement, but that would be a foolish decision
I'm really happy as a Jazz fan, We can still have a bottom 2 record in the west (only Portland is worse on paper even with Markenan). We get a top 5 pick (flatter lottery odds it's a ton of luck) and get the guy in this draft and development of young players could be in a really good spot in 2 years.
Good luck on all that. It's more likely you are middle of the pack, maybe exit 1st or if lucky 2nd round. Jazz are a respectable team and hopefully things work out for you guys.
@@sinastir7688yeah, the Jazz and the Warriors both in the lottery. May the odds be with you.
That dude getting to play along the ending of steph career has got to be a good motivation piece. But that makes no sense by the time your crap again he will be way older and not on the same time line as their new players.
I can’t believe Utah did what was in their best interest. I mean, if Golden State wanted Markkanen, Utah should have acquiesced. Just because GS didn’t want to give up any of their top players, is no excuse. Utah was clearly being selfish and didn’t have any concern for what was best for GS. 😂
Now Danny Ainge need trade John Collins, Jordan Clarkson & Collin Sexton this summer or 2025 NBA trade deadline ?
crazy how much twolves gave up for 1 season of jimmy. they could have markkanen. but i guess the losing helped them get ant so sometimes mistakes pay off.
@@flysocietyZx Everything happens for a reason. Markkanen most likely wouldn't have become an all star.
Think of the Lakers. Randle, Ingram, Clarkson, Hart, Kuzma and D'Lo all had to be moved so that they cold fulfil the potentials we've seen them acheive 🤷♂️
Dubs ineptness screwed this up, but it’s really for the best. The sooner they admit it’s over and start to rebuild, the better.
As a dubs fan i am glad we didnt bend over to trade for lauri. He plays 50-60 games next year
We are really close to having an entire playoff without the Bron/Steph/KD for the first time in basically two decades. This playoffs is going to be great with all the old guard out
not getting markanen is such a stupid move from the warriors he is the perfect fit. we had a tall shooting centre last year and he was called Dario sargic and on offense he was good but he couldn't defend shit, either way he did pair great with Jonathan kuminag and Draymond because he spaced the floor. and those two aren't shooter. now imagine Dario sargic being taller, stronger, more athletic and capable on defense. that's Lauri marakanen. and why did they want not kuminga, they wanted podz, future josh hart. I would d the trade in a heartbeat.
It is crazy to me people think Markanen is better than a role player
They should ship clarkson out so they can prioritize collier off the bench
Warriors waiting for 2018 LeBron to become available before moving Kuminga.. said no to Siakam, George and now Markkanen 🤣
@@xPyroNv Do your research.
They couldn't have agreed to a Paul George trade because George would've had to have accepted his player option, which he wasn't willing to do. Financially, he made the right decision

It really sounds like a trade for PG13 was in place between the Clippers and Warriors but Clipper pulled the plug on it because they didn't want to help a division rival (petty) and wanted to get under the second apron (fair). I think PG13/Steph/Draymond would've been an interesting group and was excited to see that but, alas, Clippers gonna Clipper all the way to the end. Hope they enjoy 1.5 Kawhi legs and the remains of James Harden.
@@ColdHoops I also started watching then, my fault on not knowing you're Paul George' best friend and knowing what he wanted though :(
so how’s his contract any better than lavines now…
Why don’t the Warriors trade for BI? They won’t have to trade as much and he’s just as good as Markkanen.
Being willing to trade a player if the right offer comes along, versus actively trying to trade a player are two very different things. Also if you were a team that has serious interest in a player, you don't get hung up on not trading role players for them. If Moses Moody and Picks was Golden State's best offer, then Mike Dunleavy Jr. should be fired.
I heard also if you are in the second apron your picks basically become the 31st pick so wouldnt the warriors picks basically become that?
God this was the worst trade rumors that were so heavily reported on this offseason. Had no idea this dude existed before everyone started talking about him and wish it could have stayed that way but everyone has to talk about something I guess..
He’ll be traded when Danny decides he will. Doesn’t matter what Lauri wants. He’s bought one year in Utah.
Lauri is still most underrated player in whole nba. and still underpaid even after this new contract.
I would like him to be in playoff team. Jazz will tank heavily in this season and Lauri will sit out lot of games either "rest" or "injury". Both will be bogus, just for tanking for Flagg or someone other TOP picks.
Nba should make some changes so half of the teams dont try to lose games on purpose. That shouldnt be part of any sport league. Its not a sport if team try to lose. But its in USA. Nba and wwe. Both are not real sports, just for the show. Nba players are actors who pretend to play for win when actually there is some games where both teams try to lose. Is that sport? Adam Silver says it is. I say its stupid.
Should trade for BI if he doesnt sign extension
I love this HB propaganda 🤣🤣 when he was on the Kings he was viewed by everyone as ass but now that he’s on the Spurs he’s like a top 20 player or something
Thanks tuck
Asking for a team's best player and refusing to include anyone you consider valuable is being aggressive? ok
At last the speculations has ended. Even with Lauri in the lineup they still have very little chance of winning the championship.
For the life of me I can’t figure out why they would even want to trade Him

If its danny ainge, of course the deal would be lop-sided.
No, he is "not staying". Utah will still be at the bottom of the West chasing Cooper Flag. Lauri on the Jazz is no different than Beal on Washington. PREDICTION: Lauri will be traded in the Summer of 2025 to a team like San Antonio.
Its danny bro, he was betting on that fleece until the last minute, now he made lauri the next mike conley. I mean duh anyone would've bagged that extension
Only way they will be successful is if kuminga becomes an allstar or all nba player and curry keeps being a 24-30 ppg scorer and podz becomes a 17 ppg player
Steph needs help, last year wasnt the signs of decline lol, the roster is bascally him, kuminga, podz and a random player scoring 18-20 on a random night. He needs more sustainable scoring and you will all see the steph we have all been seeing the past couple of years
Danny Ainge thought he could sucker other teams. No one took the bate and only offered Utah what they were willing to lose. Utah desperately wants to get in the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes, but Markkanen is too good to allow for the requisite horrible record needed for better lottery odds. Every team in the league knew this and the type of games Ainge likes to play. Good to see the league give Ainge the middle finger.
Last season, the Jazz played the vets major minutes and only gave them the 8th seed (before the lottery). Guess what will happen if they played the vets minimum minutes and give the young ones major playing time.

Lauri Markkanen didn't care at all where he played. All he cared about is to be renegotiated for this year, so he can make 42m instead of 20ish. That's a huge difference because it raises his salary immediately. He wanted the cash and Utah was the one who could offer it to him. Jazz are still going to trade him, but probably will happen in two years for like two first round picks

As a Spurs fan, the Spurs were not really interested in any of these guys. All of last year and this year, every star that is on the trade block has been connected to the Spurs with nothing on the Spurs side indicating real interest. And to be specific, if the Spurs were interested in someone, you would not hear about it. The Spurs don't operate out in the open, they do trade sliently and rarely. Do I think they asked what Utah was looking for? Sure, but they hung up the phone once Ainge said "5 first round picks and players" and never called again. Yea idk why people want the dubs to stay competitive with steph, lauri and no depth or assets when they could just TANK.
what a crap point of view.. obvious the way it turned out proved him right (wrong) he's just catering to his warriors channel. sad.
I like Markannen, but I'm not giving up that much for a guy who hasn't shown he can do it on a good team. Two years ago, he averaged 15 ppg as an ensemble piece on a play-in team. That's the only time he's sniffed the playoffs.
However, if Markannen was an unrestricted free agent and was asking for what he got, and I'm Dun-Dun, I'd be figuring out how to get him.
If Markannen was putting up those numbers on New Orleans or Philadelphia last year, then I'd expect someone to trade all that and more for him because then I'd be assured that those numbers were legit.
I think historically volume scorers on bad teams should be looked at with some hesitation, when thinking about adding them to higher level teams. But Lauri is much different than most of those guys. He’s not just dominating the ball putting up bad shots. He averaged over 20 a game essentially just running off ball and attacking the rim hard. I think this is actually massively in his favor considering that style would only be amplified with better offensive talent ahead of him. Jazz despite their overall record were actually playing very good basketball before the Olynyk and Fonteccio trade, right before the all star break. They were playing some legitimately brilliant basketball with tons of movement and awesome screening actions that were just so tough to guard even though their best on ball creator was maybe Sexton. (Lauri also had a +10 on off net rating which is a fantastic mark, many of these volume players don’t have this type of signal) Also don’t think the Cavs stint is a great outlook for him on a better team, considering they were experimenting with some insane 3 big lineup which for todays NBA just doesn’t make much sense offensively or defensively. A 7 footer who’s a knockdown shooter alone is a good value add to just about any team, then add in he’s also a movement player and fantastic finisher. I’m not saying sell the farm for him. but again i think the historical concern of adding volume scorers from bad teams to a higher level squad isn’t nearly as much in play here. Many of those guys can’t thrive as a 2nd or 3rd, but i feel that’s lauris wheelhouse.
Utah made a huge mistake, they aren't going to be able to be bad enough to get a top 5 pick now. That's the biggest faliure here. I don't know why teams keep paying maxes to not even all star players, when their entire team is so mediocre. Utah isn't going anywhere, Toronto isn't going anywhere, Bulls aren't going anywhere. Start the inevitable tank because otherwise none of those teams are making it past the first round. You need elite young talent to build on, those teams have good young talent, but not that elite level. This was the year for everyone to tank, and yet some teams decided not to
No he’s not Utah will be a lottery team he ain’t that good to get them out of that they will be last in the west
Lmao I'm sorry, but what do they see in Podz? Podz will never reach the level of play and potential that Lauri can offer, and Lauri is just a decent player
W
That much money for 22 ppg is crazy
if you see just points you dont know anything about basketball
Why
I really don't know why Utah didn't do this yesterday.
Plenty of teams would have tried to go after him at the deadline if he was under contract for 4 and a half years instead of half a year.
Now there's also a decent chance that their pick falls out of the top 10 and they lose it to OKC.
I think Lauri didn't want a trade hanging over his head. By signing the extension now, he knows that he can't be traded until next offseason.
He was extension eligible Aug 6th, that’s the first day he could’ve signed it. Signing it on the 7th means he can’t be traded until next offseason. Just how the timing worked out with Utah not wanting to risk losing him for nothing in 2025
@@SportingLogically They could've signed him yesterday and had the option to sell on him at the deadline.
Lauri had the option to just wait a day to sign it, and that’s what he did haha. Utah offered yesterday, he signed it today
@@SportingLogically ig he really wanted to stay in Utah then
Steph's going to leave for the Lakers one year from now lol
Why would he leave one dump for another? 😭
Teams decided they don't want to be scammed by Danny Ainge
That’s why the Jazz keep making moves?!
Look what Danny ainge did for Minnesota I wouldn’t call that a scam
😂😂😂 warriors lets go😅
Podz not even gonna be an all star
Mike Dunleavy Jr. should be fired, not a Warriors fan but I know he's not doing a great job lately.
@@thebounceph Lol the job's not done...
@@ColdHoops lol keep your hopes up. It’s another year fighting for a play-in spot for you guys.
@@thebounceph I'm a Nets fan lol, but I don't see Warriors making the Play-In.
Houston are here for the foreseeable future and Ja's back so 🤷♂️
@@ColdHoops I agree that’s why I think they should have fired Dunleavy a long time ago. He made a lot of mistakes in his short tenure, including this one. They should have traded for Lauri, they are wasting Steph’s years left to compete for a chip
@@thebounceph Why? He hasn't made any bad transaction moves barring one. If he traded Curry for
Jose Alvarado or Pritchard I would be on your side. But that's not what's happened.
Besides, Steph will be traded. By the 2025 training camp, Steph will be on another team for certain
Why nobody talks bout how Markkanen is injury prone * Crazy face Danny Ainge was trying to hustle the Spurs and warriors, Spurs was not giving up K johnson and 325 draft picks, and obviously not giving up Vassell, The Spurs had a good pack for Jazz Ainge didn't want it, this would come back to hurt Jazz
Stop saying he’s an all nba caliber player! He’s a one time all star! He’s never made an all nba team and he’s been putting up great stats on a bad team. Let’s wait and see if he can be that guy on a good team and make more all star teams and get to that all nba level
Lauri getting overrated. He’s the new Bradley Beal. Gonna make 400 million and never play meaningful basketball. Any team that trades for him is going to regret it
Everything you said was completely wrong, jazz were trying to fleece teams and no one budged
Sounds like a salty GSW fan
@@ididntaskverified3663 how was i wrong? He’s literally getting the bag to not play meaningful basketball. That’s the Brad Beal deal.
@@KDisforWHIMPS I’m a suns fan. That’s why I’m comparing him to Beal. You can’t pay third options max money anymore
Well thanks for informing us you don't watch the game of basketball, and certainly haven't actually watch Markkanen play. Since he's been in Utah, the Jazz are 10.8 points better per 100 possessions than the opponent when he's on the floor vs when he's sitting. And this is with no other primary scorer or threat on the floor.
Pre 1 minute
Am I the only one who thinks players like Bruce Brown and Derrick Jones Jr are being 'blackballed' from gaining higher contracts when you see guys like Lauri getting paid over 200 milli? 😭😭😂
Yes. Whether Markkanen is overpaid or not is one thing, but he's a whole different level of player than those guys are.
@@Musso8771 I know that. But still, I'm saying to myself "Damn! These guys can't even get a 80 or 60 million contract?"
Even VanVleet was super overpaid🤷♂️
I really wanted him with the Knicks 😢
U want everyone or smt??
tf you need another forward for 😭😭😭😭
How the hell were the Knicks ever going to get him😂??
😂this ain't 2k bro wants everything
Lmaooo knicks gotta a lot of picks send them randel and a boat load of picks
Wasting years of his time on the jazz when he should be looking to get some rings for any contending team like okc warrior, so weird
Warriors.. don't you remember you had a young prospect and his name is Jordan Poole!
Lauri overrated anyways. He had one good season his entire career. Don't know why Utah expected a haul for him anyways
