  • My logic is simple and only intended to help people, not to “win” an argument.
It’s inconceivable that a human would be right where God is wrong. God is the source of intellect and morality. God is supremely good, intelligent, and wise. While it is totally understandable for a human to say. “Some of what God has done, or has allowed, makes no sense to me and even appears morally wrong.” it simply never makes sense for them to say, “I therefore conclude that God is actually wrong. He doesn’t know what I know or he is simply immoral and is purposely doing evil. I conclude that my own evaluation of things is superior to the Creator’s.” Such an attitude is folly.
If you think God is wrong, it’s very strong evidence that you are wrong.

As an atheist, you definitely pray to and worship yourself. Even though you acknowledge your imperfection.
There's an old story about an atheist who said to God "Why are you so despicable and mean?". God said, "I have to think about my answer. Here's some energy and matter. Go make a bunny rabbit and come back when you are done and we'll sit down and talk about it". The atheist went off and after 10 years brought back a mechanical bunny. God said, "No, it has to be alive, eat, reproduce, grow hair, have an immune system that heals wounds, like a real bunny.". The atheist got more matter and energy and went to work at making a bunny. Time passed, he died, but God let him continue trying. Billions of years went by and God came to check on him. The atheist said, "No bunny yet, but I'm not giving up.". God said, you've died, and I kept you alive for billions of years, and you still don't believe I exist?
The atheist said, "I definitely don't believe in you.". God said, "Why?". The atheist said, " God is supposed to be all knowing, but, you don't know anything about atheists.".

God never condoned Rape, slavery as we know it today, child sacrifices or unjustified murder.
Slavery in the Bible was a form of indentured servitude for one thing. You entered into it willingly to pay something off. Not like the evil that we saw in the South.
God HATED child sacrifices and rape. God had the Israelites kill the Canaanites because they were committing child sacrifice and rape.
The reason that God sent His only Begotten son was because there needed to be an atonement for your sins, my sins, and everybody's sins. "For the wages of sin is death, but the FREE gift of God is ETERNAL LIFE in Christ Jesus our LORD." - Romans 6:23

You don't trust and refuse. He waits. At some point there is an alteration in you that solidifies the hate or distrust. You will be rescued but you will not be you, or free. In some ways it is like a woman.

First there is not proof for much of anything. Logically we can't prove the world outside our own minds exists. We would never be able to tell a real world from a simulation or a fream or some other thing. The idea the universe is real is a unprovable unfalsifiable theory. There is gery little we xan prove outside of logical concepts and maths.
Second the world with so much pain is a result of separation from god. God did not intend this and from the Bibles perspective intends to fix it.
Third. Its not pointless. It is a relationship. You know your family ( wife brother sister husband father mother etc.) loves you. But that doesn't mean it is pointless gor them to say it. God knows all things but to express yourself is an act of love. And you should not be so hardened that only a forceful act of god can change your mind. Be open to logic and reason. Be open to love and to see from a new perspective. There is nothing wrong with changing your mind.

Because, the devil told the truth that our eyes would be open and that is exactly what happened and we didn't die. We died when he kicked us out from garden of Eden. On top of this he cursed the earth even though he had the power to fix it there and then or prevent it entirely. Note how our very biological instincts which we have no choice over, yet he sets the rules in opposition to that biological nature. You say choice but even of you repent and try to pursue a relationship with him, he is still sends the devil after you to open up a can of whoopass on you in the form of diseases, cancers, tragedies and the list go on. But, even our very neurological makeup was designed by him in the womb, and our birth place and our social upbringing. Our genes make us predisposed to certain illness. The whole thing has been set up. If he is real, there is no doubt that suffering was not the result of sin but in fact sin was opened up so he could act out his sadistic fantasies of torturing weak, fallible, vulnerable creatures with a inbuilt fear of death. No doubt this is to appease his ego and for the few to see him as a hero. Offers no solutions to human suffering, take a walk in the children's wards in your local hospital, go tell them that it was their choice that did that to them. Your God is obviously despicable and even if it is a good old fist shaking which doesn't solve anything at least we can express our views on such a sadistic character.

It isn't. You see that many times in the Bible. But ultimately, God is God and has the final say on reality because he MADE reality. You can grapple with things and wonder why things are the way they are, but when it comes down to it, you're a character in a story and God's the Author who knows what needs to happen for the best ending. If he's all-loving and all-powerful just like you wonder, then logically you'd have to conclude that he has your best interests at heart by default; therefore why continue disagreeing if you know that. Then it's a problem with your trust, not his character.

Imagine for a moment what it's like for a child in human trafficking.
How could this child not be mad at God?
Instead of experiencing a normal childhood with loving parents, They Experience rape, torture and humiliation as their toys, as their cartoons and as their schooling.
As they become older they not only carry that trauma but it spills into every relationship in their life. Children raised like this are more likely to choose people that are going to abuse them further.
How can you expect every single person on this planet to love God when you haven't spent a single day in their shoes?
This is obviously an extreme example.
Most people on this Earth have lived very cushy Comfort filled lives.
Most people complain about things that don't even matter.

That being said, Christians aren’t Christians bc they fear Hell - You can’t buy your way to heaven with good acts. We’re Christians bc we see the truth in the Bible. What you’re mocking is a caricature of Christian’s you’ve invented in your own mind and just shows your less than surface level understanding of God, the Bible and the Christian faith.

@@Kev_Cooper777 It’s our government that insures the inalienable right “given to us by our creator” - God never said you have “rights” which is why I said they are made up. What God gave us is objective morality which we use to invent “rights.”
Also, your baby argument isn’t as good as you think it is. Humans have been commanded not to murder. God is not subject to the laws he gave to man bc he is not a man, he is God.
Which is why he also can’t “murder” anyone. We belong to God, he created us. What you call murder is just him taking back the life he breathed into us. Those babies didn’t suffer they went back to their spiritual home in heaven, with God.
No one “killed them” and everyone was warned if they didn’t put lambs blood above their doors their first born would die. People chose not to obey. Or will you argue that freewill is also “mean”?
If you don’t believe in God none of that ever happened so why the heck do you care what a fictional God did in a fictional book?
If you do think he is real and just “mean” then why the heck do you think your opinion matters? You can think he is mean all you want that won’t change that he exists or that you will be judged accordingly.

@@Goldenrod6901 What he does do is grant the existence of an omnipotent, omniscient, all wise, all loving, Creator God and then he says that he'd give such an entity a piece of his mind because he, Alex, knows better. It's a ridiculous position.
Alex is essentially making an argument from evil attack on the idea of the Christian God. This is an _ancient_ argument. It has already been soundly defeated. You can simply google 'theodicy' to find out all about it.
One of the counter arguments to the argument from evil is that, basically, God works in mysterious ways, and the universe had to be the way it is, and that doing it another way would result in a less good universe (for some unknowable reason).
Some people find that idea insufficient. They call it an 'appeal to mystery'.
They're wrong, it's actually quite sufficient to counter the argument from evil. Since the argument from evil is making an absolute claim it doesn't actually take much to defeat it; you need only carve out a possible exception and it falls apart. But still, some people don't like it.
Mind you, maybe it's not that the answer is unknowable, but rather just unknown. So there could be a good reason that we just don't know and can't yet grasp from our position here in this life.
What Alex does in his scenario is make the appeal to mystery _true._ If we have the universe as it is with all the evils it contains, _and_ we have the Christian God as well, then _Alex is wrong._ That's a logical entailment.
In this case the mysterious reason that we are currently not privy to _must_ exist. Alex's position is self-defeating. The idea that he thinks that he knows better than God is mind boggling.

The concept of Satan as a distinct supernatural being didn't exist until the post-exilic Greco-Roman era.
Ha-Satan originally meant 'Adversary' and anyone could assume the role. The "Adversary" mentioned in Job was part of the Divine Council of El Elyon (God), of which Adonai/Yahweh was a member. After that, it referred to the plurality of desert Djinns the ancient Israelites thought they could ward off with charms. It was further developed in the centuries leading up to Jesus' time until it referred to an individual entity responsible for creating evil; a responsibility that had previously belonged to God as attested to in Isaiah 45:7.
Early church dogma retrojected this new perception back onto the ancient Hebrew scriptures claiming that both the serpent in Eden and the Adversary in Job were an individual named Satan, even though the data do not support this notion and Genesis itself says that the serpent was simply the craftiest of all the animals.
Even in the story of Job, the Adversary doesn't kill anyone. He simply suggests that El can prove his point about Job by torturing him and killing his family and livestock. He is loosed to incite other people to do the killing but El takes ultimate responsibility for the destruction and torture. He concludes the story by stating that he can do what he wants because he's powerful enough to get away with it. Essentially, "might makes right", which is a concept most people identify with tyranny and sociopathy.
There is little difference between the God of the Old Testament and the Satan Jesus talks about.
