It always amazes me that some drummers can go their whole lives without finding the pocket - the best ones are capable of being SO "in the pocket" that it stands out - and you noticed it right away.
They play onset during Saiki's break time. The girls referred to this time as Saiki's pee break. She is really resting her voice. Great fun reaction again.

Secret My Lips is a good example of how they make slight pauses or interludes before hitting hard again. It's like a roller coaster just at the top of an arc. Then WHAM! They hit you hard again. Even when you know it's coming! In fact it might be better because you have anticipation.

Everyone keeps comparing them to Paramour. Why ? Girl singer doing hard rock ? Sorry theydont hold a candle against Band Maid for songs , and performance . Sorry
I didn't know everyone is comparing them to Paramore, I have just recently learned about Band Maid since like three weeks ago, and I have never heard them compared to them before.... I was saying this song Secret My Lips specifically reminded me of the rock style of Paramore. It has maybe a LITTLE to do with them both having female vocalists, but if you notice, I tend to be more focused on the instruments in music. I meant no offense, and I'm not sure but I think I even prefaced that comment in the video first by saying "I mean no offense", and from what I've seen so far, they have a wide range of rock variations. This is the only song of theirs I have heard so far that brought forth that comparison in my mind.
He said this one song reminded him a bit of Paramour, people compare things when they sound similar. Just because this song reminds him of Paramour doesn't mean he's saying Band Maid is like Paramour. I've heard people compare parts of Band Maid songs to a whole bunch of other music groups. That doesn't necessarily mean those groups are better, it's just natural to compare things to similar stuff you've heard.
@@Yeedeed I have heard Paramour, but I have also heard everything from AC/DC & G&R to U2 and Joe Satriani. Fact is, it is almost impossible to do something in music that hasn't been done before so there will always be comparisons.

You're doing a great job and giving your honest opinions and that's the most important thing. Paul is a little testy 😲 and should follow BAND-MAIDs mantra of peace, love, charge hard, do your own thing and never look back.
This strikes me as odd.....most of the adulation for this band, these written comments, all read and sound very similar. ALMOST as though they were written by the same person....and unusual grammatical errors by people with English-speaking-sounding names. Claims that can’t be taken seriously - LOTS OF THEM. I looked up a name or two online, and can find no evidence that they actually exist. BeenVerified, Twitter, Facebook- that’s very strange. Now who would do that ? The same puppet-masters pumping music into the speakers at live shows for these musicians to strum their guitars to ? For money? Gross. If true, GROSS. The only thing they can’t manipulate? The music really isn’t very good. You aren’t fooling anyone. Go make an honest living - you’ll feel better. I hope.
YT commenters aside...did you listen to 'Onset'? Not impressed? That bass player...she's wicked mate. These women have got skills that IMHO stack up to what I've been listening to since the 70s...British/Canadian/American rock and more.
