One of my favourite stories, screw those whinny adults that kept one saying this story is too harsh (I do feel sorry for Henry but I still think he somewhat deserved his punishment) these people have no idea that Henry is gonna be free in following stories.

Obviously they didn't cut it over the course of a day, apparently Henry was in that tunnel for a few months, a year at most, so that's enough time to build a wall and a new tunnel.
And if you see the CGI remake (The adventure begins), when Edward told Thomas this story, at the part that he said, ''they tryed with an engine too'', the whistle of the engine was from James, when he was trying to push Henry out of the tunnel. I'm writing those two comments for answer to some people who aren't sure.
Fun fact: Awdry originally planned for Henry to be from a different railway than Edward and Gordon and the book to end with this story, but the publisher told him to end it with a happy story
@@jjb1908 Yeah I heard about that. I think Henry was originally just a standard GNR C1 Atlantic who stopped in a tunnel on the Great Northern Railway, not on Sodor. But then Awdry agreed that it was a good idea for all of his stories to be set on the same fictional island off the coast of England.

This is what makes Thomas so great, its entertaining action packed nature combined with its dark and gritty elements that are at play.

Henry then had a boiler issue, but refused to get out due to his concerns about the paintwork, Until, *BAM* his boiler exploded! the breakdown train was taken to henry, and he went to the steamworks. they found he had several other problems with him. Unfortunately, they weren't able to fix henry, and they set him back into the tunnel until his "special parts" were made. but they were never made, so he stayed there for many years. Occasionally, when other engines use the opposite track of the tunnel, inside of the bridge, you can see what's left of henry. Of course, you can't start a conversation as his faceplate rusted away recently. But to this day, the story of Henry has always been, and always will be, the most tragic story ever told on sodor. *-ROLL CREDITS-*
