While I agree about so many things said by Professor Gregory I am surprised at the Tag equating Nigeria with SPAMs. I am Watching in 2021 and I am convinced the professor must have heard of The Wave of Fintech unicorns from Africa mostly from Nigeria and not in any way related to the Spam or Oil industry. This here is the danger of a single story. Failing to realize that there are indeed other sides to an event and different realities other than the one we are familiar with. For the avoidance of doubt, the comment was at 16:30.
It is tiring to hear such statements over and over again. But what can I say, there are so many yahoo boys around, it is hard convincing people that think this way.
Wow this is very fascinating. So much has been happening over last few years. I am just learning about this fintech space and excited to make use of this knowledge!
Is it possible to request for a soft copy of all 168 slides used by Professor La Blanc in his very compelling video on the FinTech revolution two years ago? It is perhaps the most comprehensive but comprehensible lecture on the subject matter I have come across in any forum. What I would like to do is to have each slide in front of me, so that I can pause the video to relate its content to what Professor La Blanc just said in the presentation.
digital payment, data mining and analysis, resources reconstruction based on big data, all in one personal assets management, smart contract and free capital market.
I think this will be a horrible world of control we will be living in. and we just saw the beginning in the last 2 years ..... I like (at 28.43) when he says pay cash for the bad things you buy, unfortunately cash will soon disappear and then every single transaction will be traced and we will not even be able to hide anything of our lives anymore - a real nightmare. The professor is brilliant though even if he seems to be on steroids ....
@Yahisfirst I agreee 100% what I am saying is there is still a way to privatize I’m not disagreeing. I’m saying even with this here there is still away to go private:
Funny though, most of the time sombody will buy bitcoin first before they buy ripple. Saying bitcoin won't pevail(he did not say it directly, but he said open premisionless systems won't survive) is like saying gold will suddenly be useless and valueless. Try killing the bittorent network or the thor network, p2p is not somthing will go out of fashion. Smart guy though 🧐
Yes, the use case of blockchain in fintech is actually quite good. Can improve a lot of things, keeping of records, more transparency..I newly invested in project from Dubai. It is called Menapay. They did a really good job and spread their network of partners through all the region in less than a year!
Is he conflating precision with accuracy. We can produce more precise models of behaviour but they're not necessarily more accurate. Defaults are going up and have been for decades. If the modelling was so good then we'd be seen fewer bad investments and failed loans - that's not the case. The AI argument is another point. AI is as only as good as the data it is trained on. It will approximate the predictive skill of the population of Drs that produced the training data it will not exceed it. There are methods of reinforcement that can improve the predictive capabilities beyond this but typically at the expense of something else. So I suspect the headline masks the true findings of such a study.
Such a great lecture. Thank you Prof. La Blanc!!!!
He is a smart legend! His another exceptional lecture... Thank you sir!
Great video! Fascinating Information that masses have no idea about what is happening behind the scenes.

I had to rewind that part about 4 times when I was watching the video! It's so disheartening when they paint us in such light.😢

Saying "never" these days, is a very risky proposition

The difference between Bitcoin and Ripple is the one is Money and another is Company (xrp is the asset). This man better not be teaching crypto.

Your comment is more bothersome than his cough.
