Aww, they do look grumpy! There was a tawny owl on the webcam not long ago that looked like it was smiling all the time, though! It reminded me of a cat "smiling" with its eyes closed. It would tip its beak up and close its eyes and it looked happy - maybe it wasn't, I have no idea!

I've been saying to my mother about making our garden more wildlife friendly. We only have wooden fencing but we leave gaps at the bottom for the hedgehogs to go through. But I'd love to build a place for the hedgehogs to nest in... we've got a German shepherd called tom-tom but I know he wouldn't hurt any wildlife. He has seen the hedgehog that comes into our garden and a frog once and he jumped (well ...he done what we'd call a bunny hop backwards) from them both 😂 so funny bless him. He even done a head tilt as well 😁 so cute. I will be checking out the website for ideas ☺ ...everyone should do what ever they can no matter how small...every little helps and our wildlife is worth saving and protecting. All of you at wildlife aid are fantastic ☺ 👍 👏👏👏
Thank you so much for doing your bit to protect wildlife! I love that you think 'everyone should do what they can no matter how small'. That is exactly the attitude the world needs!
I was taking my stepdad's dog for a walk once when he found a hedgehog in the middle of the pavement. Night had just fallen. The hog obviously curled up and just sat there like a large spiky ball. I hadn't even noticed it because it was dark, it was when the dog stopped that I saw it Seamus had no aggressive intent whatsoever - just sniffed it from every angle, quietly wuffed a bit and then sat staring at it. I hid round the corner with the dog and watched it. Half an hour later, hog hadn't moved an inch and I was getting a bit worried about the road, so enlisted a nighbour to grab his gardening gloves and move the hog into his garden, where the contrary little beast immediately uncurled and scuttled off. Not such a little beast actually, it was HUGE.

A trick for releasing force-fledged raptors back into nests: When your'e up the ladder (or rope, whatever you're using) and you place the bird back into the nest, hold it down with one hand flat to keep it down. Preferably so it can't easily see over the edge of the nest. A pair of forward-facing eyes is more likely to set off a predator since they understand what that attention means, but a hand is probably just sort of weird for them. You're so right; you don't always know what to do. They don't make handbooks for every possible situation when it comes to wildlife, but all we can do is try our best, and you guys are amazing. I like owls. I'll make a nest box for the Scops Owls that live near my house. Edit: in Italy there are nine native species of owl: Barn owl Tawny owl Eagle owl Scops owl Northern long eared owl I don't know the English names of these so I'll put their scientific names: Asio flammeus Aegolius funereus Glaucidium passerinum
I once had a bat trapped under some plastic in my barn. Donning some thick leather gloves(a few years ago a girl in Idaho got rabies from a bat and barely survived so I took no chances) I carefully got it out, put it in a small glass jar (with holes in the lid) and just wanted to do a quick google search in what it was. Plus safely make sure it was not injured with minimum physical contact. Seeing it was a common (but protected) common brown that fed on insects I caught a few live flies and fed it thru the lid with tweezers. It ate the flies like they were CANDY! Seeing it was healthy, willing to eat, and not injured I let it go immediately outside near a good roost area. Unlike other girls, I like creepy crawlies like snakes, spiders, odd bugs, and bats!
I've a question about hatchlings of owls- I just found a pair of Great Horned Owls nesting in a tree beside a busy road in a Shopping center parking lot. I'm not particularly worried about any owlettes falling from the nest right now, as it's the beginning of the breeding season, but later on down the road could be troublesome for the fledgelings, since the nest is, again, in a shopping center parking lot and by a heavily used road. Do you recommend that I let a Wildlife center know about the nesting pair?
I love watching these rescues because I love animals. I do have a question though, seems like everyone blames humans for being on this God given planet for everything wrong in this world. What do you propose people do to help the animals habitats?
We had a bat stuck in our 3 story house and he was first seen in a large room which we presumed it was a black bird. 2 days later we saw it sleeping at the top of the stairs it saw us and and it was flying all around he eventually got his self stuck on a chair so we had to open the window and let the bat out along with the chair he was stuck.
I had an encounter with a small bat in our house. Couldn't find anybody who would come and get it for me. So armed with a towel and praying a lot. I got the little bad out of the house all by myself. I managed not to hurt the bat. Hope I don't ever have to do that again. I think I was more afraid of him than he was of me 😁

Another idea is to plant native plants that are good for local wildlife - like bushes with berries to eat or shrubs that provide cover & shelter. :-)

You're so right; you don't always know what to do. They don't make handbooks for every possible situation when it comes to wildlife, but all we can do is try our best, and you guys are amazing. Thank you again.

I like owls. I'll make a nest box for the Scops Owls that live near my house.
Edit: in Italy there are nine native species of owl:
Barn owl
Tawny owl
Eagle owl
Scops owl
Northern long eared owl
I don't know the English names of these so I'll put their scientific names:
Asio flammeus
Aegolius funereus
Glaucidium passerinum
That's great! Thank you for helping wildlife!
In english, the last three are the short-eared owl, the boreal owl and the Eurasian pygmy owl :)

I hope you enjoyed it!
Wildlife Aid I did I watch y'all every time y'all upload after I made up my mind that I'm going to be a Wildlife Rescuer.
I think you'd be surprised how many girls like those things. The majority of people I know do.
Have you guys looked into Patreon?

Good job😊
Many thanks!
New episode for my birthday 🎁😊
Happy birthday! :)
Please show barn owl rescues!
I had a bay in my house I just opened the front door all the way and chased it out! Lol
Where are the rest of the episodes?
❤❤❤
2 questions, for the owls:
1)did u put nail polish on their heads?
2)how did they stay so calm
Le Cowqueen yeah it was nail polish, it’s just used for identification and doesn’t harm them at all 😊
I had an encounter with a small bat in our house. Couldn't find anybody who would come and get it for me. So armed with a towel and praying a lot. I got the little bad out of the house all by myself. I managed not to hurt the bat. Hope I don't ever have to do that again. I think I was more afraid of him than he was of me 😁
❤️
Can thermal detectors like that pick up mice?
They can detect any heat source :)
Why didn't you open the door instead of trying to catch the bat?
I thought that the word crikey came from Australia but I guess I am wrong. To any person who lives in the uk would you please tell me if I am right our wrong and if I am wrong I apologise I mean no disrespect!!!I am a american and I honestly don't know.
Is this the last available episode 😢
Your videos is good
