    Wowzer! Look at those harvests! There’s something so gorgeous about a table with a load of different squashes. Love the little bits of history of the house too 😊❤

    🧡🤎💛💚 I love watching your harvests, it gives me all the ideas for what varieties to try next year, I really love the small ones you can use as soup bowls.
    Nice colour with the utility room, that’s looking brilliant too.

    Loving all the squash and spuds. How satisfying to have such a lovely haul of veggies for the coming months, not to mention your home raised breakfast. Really great to catch up.

    Wonderful potato and squash harvest! When I look back at the weather and pest issues we all had this year, I’d never have expected to see such a fantastic harvest. You’ve done brilliantly with the staples harvest.
    We have one butternut squash. That’s it. Just one. About 6” long and no where near ripe 😅. We were concentrating on BN this year (Kuri last year) mainly for ensuring true seed for saving. What a waste of time! They just didn’t get going and when they did they only (bar one) produced male flowers.
    Ste makes me laugh. He’s getting more comfortable in front of the camera isn’t he. Really enjoying your vlogs. Looking forward to his lamb prep cuts video if he’s happy to share….

      @OurSmallholdingAdventure hi Tracy I canned some stock the other day in my instant pot... can I check low pressure is 10psi? The manual wasn't the most helpful thing in the world.

    Oh my god that breakfast looked amazing 😻. Yikes Tracy a bobble hat kind of day 🥶🥶, we are due zero c nights as of Monday. 4:12 😂 cheeky. What a fantastic harvest guys great job. Those green collars are great but cost a bomb here so I don’t think I’ll be investing any money in them 😢 (6 for $35 cdn). Ts pouring down here now and will do until Monday night 🤷‍♀️, have a fab weekend everyone, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦

    Super video, thank you so much. I will definitely try the "Baking Potato" squash. I live in Denmark so it should be possible for me to grow them as well. I am amazed that you got so many potatoes after all. All the best to you both.

    What an harvest that was...I love growing squash...I grew crown prince sweet dumpling red kuri and butternut this year and had really good harvests...I was given a tip by an old boy I know and that is to cover the bed in well rotted manure as soon as you clear the bed...been doing this for a few years and I get some fantastic results...also one for you to try regarding beans for winter storage are balotti beans and a runner bean variety called zsar...leave on the plant until they start to dry off they are a white bean and bloody delicious...Great content as always love this channel 🙂

    Very nice harvest again !! I learn a lot about smallholding from you two so keep up the good work😀! From my experience it seems that the the rodents like firm ground to be able to tunnel - the loose compost in the new bed is very difficult to make tunnels in, while the old one is perfect.....

    • @OurSmallholdingAdventure
      @OurSmallholdingAdventure  19 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      That is very kind of you, thank you! Maybe on the rodents, outside at least, as they do like the muck heap too which is softer so they have the best of both worlds ! :)

    congratulations!!! fantastic havests. I tried to grow Blue prince squash, but slugs deciemated the seedlings tried a late resowing but they didn't like being transplanted so nothing from them, i sowed some butternut and enough survived the slugs and bought 2 in 1 pot pumpkins for carving. for the first time ever i have multiple sizeable butternuts and 2 pumpkins that are smaller than a football. ive just got back from a week working away so will be cutting and curing on sunday poataoes so far have been very meh but i can only grow in containers atm.

    • @OurSmallholdingAdventure
      @OurSmallholdingAdventure  8 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      We had the seedlings issue too as you know, so disheartening isn't it. I will be trying butternuts again this year. Hope your spuds are lovely all the same!

    I like the mash potato squash but might try the baked potato next year . Think I might try the Ute as well If I can find it. On a side note do you keep some of the seed for next year .

    • @OurSmallholdingAdventure
      @OurSmallholdingAdventure  วันที่ผ่านมา

      I was told they’re the same Maxine so I’m not sure now haha. Will keep you posted on the Ute! I don’t keep seed at the moment as they’ve been so close together and I didn’t tie the flowers. Take care!

    Another brilliant vlog, what a lovely reward for all your hard work this year to be able to feed your family with your home grown & raised produce is no small achievement. I would like to recommend a book for your collection it’s one I have used many times over the last few years which I think you will both enjoy- “Pate,Confit,Rillette: Recipes from the craft of Charcuterie. By Brian Polcyn and Michael Ruhlman” I would loved to send you a copy but I don’t know where to send. I did check to see if you had an Amazon gift list or channel email?
    Im Still catching up on all your older videos and thoroughly enjoying them absolutely love your content amazing to see how much your children have grown in the past few years. Hope you don’t get battered by the storm today kind regards to you all.

      Aww how lovely of you to write this - that looks a fantastic book. We don't have any Amazon things really, it's never been a priority as we don't like to ask for anything. We have an email oursmallholdingadventure@gmail.com if you would like to email us :)
      I'm thrilled you are looking through the older videos and can see us all grow in different ways as the weeks and months pass - thank you

    Hello just subscribed to your channel . I was trying to figure out the accent which i tend to do a lot when i hear northeast accent , i am from newton aycliffe so not too far away from you , all our family is northeast based ,witton park, crook ,hunwick pelton .so i recognised the accent straight away. I have a question for you ,do you have a water course running through your land or very near, the reason i ask is you could check to see if there are any american signal crayfish in the river beds , if there are you can get permits to collect them and could be another source of food .

    • @OurSmallholdingAdventure
      @OurSmallholdingAdventure  24 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      You're super close :) We're born in Stockton and moved here. Can't miss the NE accents! We do yes, the River Skerne is close. We looked in to that a few years ago and then got side tracked so thank you for the reminder!
