It’s so good of you to share your experiences and knowledge that you are learning from the Master Gardener Program. I’m sure this information will help so many of us who are anxious to learn. I feel your excitement and am excited for you. Thank you!
Love your enthusiasm! MG programs are superb, I too am a MG in MI. Your talent making TH-cam videos will be a big bonus to the program and teaching gardening techniques to the public! Enjoy the program.
For comparison, I just took the Rutgers Master Gardener program here in New Jersey. Our program met in the classroom from 9 am - 1 pm every Tueday and Thursday for 13 weeks, plus we had several field trips, too. We then had to submit a plant/insect/disease identification project and take the final exam. Each trainee also had to do a short presentation to the class, and every day someone brought in food! It was fantastic! To receive the certification we now need to complete 60 hours of volunteer work, 30 of which must be on the Helpline. We also had mentors, but not one for each person, they were mentors for the group, but the mentors are amazing-super helpful and fun, too! The classes were incredible. The presenters were extremely knowledgeable, many of them professors or scientists from Rutgers or from the State of NJ or Mercer County-all of them experts in their fields. The whole experience was wonderful and so fulfilling! It’s great that you are documenting your experience. Hopefully, it will help others who are considering the program to take the leap! Good luck!
💚💚💚I am watching this series AGAIN 😊 because you inspired me to become a Master Gardener. I set my goal for 2024, and I start classes on January 31st 🎉. Utah State University. I can’t wait! Thank you for being you 💚
It was so much fun and a bit déjà vu to hear about your first day of Master Gardener classes. I live in Washington state - zone 8b and have been a Master Gardener for 7 years. Once you’ve completed the classes, I know you’ll enjoy being a Master Gardener and passing along your horticultural knowledge. It’s a wonderful organization!
Janey! How exciting! Not only for you but for us. Your heart will gain a wealth of information. Day one and you have already shared so much. Thank you❤😊🌲
Jenny are you doing the program also? How exciting… I feel like I’m falling behind! I follow your channel and hope you’ll share your experience as well! PS: my husband and son both enjoy your channel as well 😉
Your excitement is contagious Janey! Having you help them post more engaging videos is great. Watching a slide show gets boring real fast. I'm more visual. Show me how. Looking forward to these videos.
My Father was a Master Gardner here in MN. He was such a wealth of knowledge. I've got a bunch of his old books. They are awesome! You're going to learn so much! Congrats on starting this process Janey!! Cheers!
Good morning from your Master Gardener from Atlanta, Georgia. Exciting beginning class. Great plans on how to use your volunteer hours. Excellent books that you are purchasing. I did not have the pruning book as part of my collection of gardening books. So I just ordered it from EBay. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself purchasing more books as you continue the series and continue your education. Books from The American Horticultural Society are great to add to your collection. Again, as always, keep up the good work - stay focus - and I look forward to hearing about your Master Gardener 056 journey. Have a great day and week!
Thank you for sharing!! I hope to go through our program here in Virginia one day. I plan to do it when my kids are older and hopefully I can go part-time at work! One of my favorite things is going to our Master gardeners plant sale in the spring. They always have the best native plants!
Your cheerfulness and happy demeanor are an inspiration. Thank you! Abraham Lincoln was a great President. Ah, the S.F. Bay Area. I grew up in Palo Alto, and raised my 3 sons in Fremont, fortunately, and miss it so much.
El Nino is pretty much drought(heat strokes are often, so, guys, be cautious during that period.), and La Nina is wet(so it's basically flood city when it comes by).
That’s for Australia, it’s the exact opposite on the other side of the Pacific. El Nino will bring storms all the way across the Gulf of Mexico to Florida causing floods.
Love this so much! I always see master gardeners at our local farmers markets. I bought the first book you recommended on Amazon today and it arrives tomorrow!
I love that you’re sharing this info. I think there are a lot of people who might have interest in these types of programs and you sharing your experience will help reach them! Can’t wait to follow your county master gardeners upcoming youtube channel!
Love that you are doing this and adding your expertise via social media. I have found my local area Master Gardener program to be similar to yours. It needs revitalizing and improvement in social media. The volunteer MG’s only have so much time to spread their wisdom and using social media will vastly improve the outreach!! Good on you!
Congratulations on Master Gardener training! I am a Pennsylvania State Master Gardener and now teacher. Yes, everyone in the class is enthusiastic and eager to be there. Please be sure you aren’t doing anything on TH-cam that isn’t allowed by the MG program. ENJOY!!
Good Monday morning Janey. The garden is looking great. I can't wait to see what you'll be sharing after you complete the Master Gardener's Training Program. 🌼🌹
Oh Janey, I’m so happy for you! Your enthusiasm is contagious and I’ve already reached out to my Master Gardener’s local chapter, as well as ordered the books you suggested. Your outreach program is already producing good effects! Yay you, lucky me! Have a great week, Your gardening friend Dede
This sounds so exciting. I am going to start the Master Gardener program in WV in March. Enjoy your classes. I look forward to hearing about your experience.
So happy that you are truly enjoying the course you are taking. Just the way you are sharing all the info that you got shows me that you are like a sponge and just absorbed the information all in. Sounds like you will have an amazing time. Just one thing that I have read and heard in my local nurseries and that is that the first year of planting a drought tolerant plant is just settling in and establishing itself. The second year to the third year is when you will be able to see the plant in the hot sun doing it's thing properly. Just a thought. Enjoy and have a great rest of your day.
I am so excited you put out this channel! I am retiring in July from education and planning to start the program in August! Love you are doing this TH-cam Channel! I live in Alabama and would love to continue to stay in touch! I’m so ready to use my skills as a high school counselor to do something for my volunteer hours! Excellent video! Looking forward to more videos!
this series of class reports would make a great separate archived playlist on the channel, so that the course info is easier to find. that alone will be a great service to the master gardener world.
Hi Janey 🌺 I'm so excited for you now you will know alot of interesting infirmation about plants. How beautiful you can share with us what you learnd thanks my friend . I like to experiment on plants . Ihave awine colored rose . I changed it's color to pink . Have awonderful day 🌺🌻🌺
Yay! What a great idea to use your skills. Every interaction with a master gardener I have ever had has been so beneficial and interesting. A county parks program would offer classes taught by Master gardeners, and those where so good! I think the two I was able to go to were on vegetable gardening, and growing trees or bushes with edible fruits.
Sooo excited for you!.. (and for all of your subscribers. 😊) After your first video about the master gardeners program, I researched it because of course I’m interested! I ordered the books and will order the 2 you posted in this video. 📚 I look forward to learning more through your experience. Thank you for sharing!💐
Already learned something. Didn’t know not to pull out milkweed in the winter. I always pull mine because it looks dead. Thanks for sharing. You will do great in the program.
If you're going to go with drought-tolerant plants, please go with natives. California has a diverse native selection. We have native peony, elderberry, sunflower, clematis etc. I actually started incorporating natives in my garden due to the drought. Look up St Catherine's Lace Buckwheat, Julia Phelps Ceonothus, and Tree Anemone, all evergreen with gorgeous flowers!
I am so excited about the MG classes you will be attending! I thought about it before, but I really don't like speaking in public, so phooey! Maybe I can just purchas the textbook to obtain all that amazing knowledge. I have attended many MG presentations over the years, and they are a delightful group. You are in good company. 🥰
This is such an awesome series! Our county has a great MG program but I'm nowhere near ready for it... just started gardening in 2022. Maybe one day! For now, it'll be awesome to see how your experience in the program goes :)
Thanks for sharing the MG program experience. I’ve always been curious about it and even though my brother is an MG in HI, I still had no idea it was what you have been describing. I’m curious where you got the info that last year was the hottest year on record. Was that just for Davis? I’m in 9b not too far from you and I never saw that info on the local news or felt like it was hottest ever in my area.
What an excellent idea to share gardening knowledge through TH-cam. You do a great job with your channel, and I am sure you will do a good job for the Master Gardeners program. Jim Putnam, whose HortTube with Jum Putnam channel does videos with various plant masters in the horticultural world that are fascinating. I have learned a lot watching his videos. You probably have similar ideas jn mind, just particular to your local program. Good luck!
Hey! Just found out my state has a master gardeners program that is taught near me every other year… so fall of 25 it will be back. I really want to apply, can you tell me what kind of people they’re looking for? I’m just a backyard gardener not a farmer or specialist in thing… are they wanting just average people who love to garden?
I'm so glad I found this video! I just contacted my local office about a Master Gardener program this morning!
It’s so good of you to share your experiences and knowledge that you are learning from the Master Gardener Program. I’m sure this information will help so many of us who are anxious to learn. I feel your excitement and am excited for you. Thank you!

Automatic irrigation. Rain collection. Food forest. Swales. Earth works. Greening desert. Dwarf food trees for smal places

Wow---you already have so many great ideas, Janey!! Thank you so much for this opportunity to 'join' in with you!
I can’t wait for all the fun stuff you will be teaching us during and after your program 😊❤

Hi Jenny 👋🏻😬
I love how you’re just as exciting to share all you learn, as you are to learn. I’m sure you’ll inspire others to take the class in their state.
Your excitement is contagious Janey! Having you help them post more engaging videos is great. Watching a slide show gets boring real fast. I'm more visual. Show me how. Looking forward to these videos.
Welcome to the MG community! I’ve been a Florida Master Gardener for 24 years, & there is still sooo much for me to learn.
Yay thank you!!
My Father was a Master Gardner here in MN. He was such a wealth of knowledge. I've got a bunch of his old books. They are awesome! You're going to learn so much! Congrats on starting this process Janey!! Cheers!
You are an incredible asset to the Master Gardening Program. I have learned so much from you in the past year. You Rock!!! 🪨

Good morning Janey! You are going to ❤️❤️❤️the Master Gardener’s program! It will be extra exciting every Monday to see what you have for us!
I’m pretty sure you will love the master gardeners program. I’ve been a MG for many years and have loved it.
Thank you Janey for taking us along for the master gardener ride. Cant wait to hear what they have to say
This is so helpful!! Thank you so much!! Plus you are easy to listen to, so it’s easier to learn.

She’s called a “Rosarian”
I will love to see her!
Muy buenos tip

Hi,
Did you ever state where you took the class?
Hey! Just found out my state has a master gardeners program that is taught near me every other year… so fall of 25 it will be back. I really want to apply, can you tell me what kind of people they’re looking for? I’m just a backyard gardener not a farmer or specialist in thing… are they wanting just average people who love to garden?
Are you doing TH-cam full time now?
This is the class we needed at school 🪴🧑🌾 so excited to learn along with you Janey! Thanks ☺️ xx
