    First of all, thank you for doing these videos. Also, please thank your partner for doing the video with you on this as well. Last but not least, I also would like to know is there any difference among different booster as to how long will the boosting effect stay in the rubbers? Once again, great videos.

      ...but I will say it feels like the booster effect lasts 3-4 weeks with most of the boosters.

    Did you measure the duration of the boosters after initial maturation? In other words, how long after application the characteristics of the boosters were still perceived.

    This series were the one I was waiting for , so firstly thanks for completing the series. One other question would be is haifu regular 3 layers or haifu yellow national version is better ? Seems to me there is significant characteristic when applying 3rd layer in haifu regular and seems like it s very affective and faster than the others . It could be just my interpretation and I might be long. I heard many Chinese players using 4 layers of boosters. It also is my understanding that the hurricane on an extremely fast blade is the way they make up for the relatively slowness of the tacky rubbers . At this point it could be the 7 layer wood could just be tad slow to use the h3 thus creating the need for physical input. A composite blade like zhang jike zlc would be very interesting to see how these rubbers would react

    • @ThePongProfessor
      @ThePongProfessor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No doubt that switching to a composite blade could be advantageous wrt the speed of the H3. My problem is that I play with short pips in the BH and I have never gotten comfortable playing short pips with a composite blade. I crave a thicker feeling. The compromise has become 7-ply all-wood blades.

    • @rakishman1313
      @rakishman1313 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThePongProfessor I see , I used the same tibhar blade but it s just too slow for my forehand game on material rubbers . I do use frictionless anti on my backhand and use andro Treiber co off because it feels like wood but has carbon in it and is stiff and lower throw ( important for anti) .

    • @ThePongProfessor
      @ThePongProfessor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would not use 3 layers of booster on any rubber. My recommendation for a national blue would be one, max two thin layers.

    May I put a question, related to boosting here? I took of my 3 times boostered H3 blue sponge to glue it to another blade. Now it curled the other way round as after boosting. It was not a dome, the edges came up heavyly. Is this a signal, to re-booster the rubber?

    • @ThePongProfessor

    Thanks for this comparison series, helped me a lot!
    I have two questions:
    1 - the 3rd layer was applied over the dry glue, right? So, how long did it take to this last booster layer to dry?
    2 - after that, have you applied glue again? Or you just needed to apply on the blade and than stick it?

    • @ThePongProfessor
      @ThePongProfessor  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Re 1: I applied over the dry glue, and it took the booster roughly the same amount to become absorbed as after the second layer.
      Re 2: I applied glue again.

    So, in your opinion, which would be the best booster, considering the performance / price ratio? FTLB, HFMNYB or another?

    • @ThePongProfessor
      @ThePongProfessor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a difficult question as different players will have different preferences. Also it depends on your usage. One bottle of booster will last you a LONG time, unless you boost excessively. Is $50 for a bottle of Haifu Nat'l Yellow expensive if it can improve the playing characteristics of twenty $20 sheet of H3 to a level you are comfortable with? I think, one can make a case for most of the boosters save, perhaps, for FP and HSM-NB.

    Hey Pong, great videos! I loved the in-depth review and comments. How about comparing boosters to speed glue?

    • @ThePongProfessor
      @ThePongProfessor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey - As you know boosters are already of questionable legality (i.e., they are illegal but boosting at the higher levels is so widespread and the rule unenforceable that it is quasi accepted use). Speed glue, on the other hand, is most definitively illegal and poses a serious health risk, unless you glue outside. For me that's crossing a line. I don't have any plans to try out speed glue again (I used to speed glue as a kid and the feeling was fantastic).

    • @jochenbuthe75
      @jochenbuthe75 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me put this question a bit wider: we know, the booster effect will leave after 2-3 months. Is a "re-freshing" with 1 layer giving back the effects we saw after step one (2 layers)? I don't think, all of the booster will disappear from the sponge.
      Thanks for the helpful testing, PongProf

    • @ThePongProfessor
      @ThePongProfessor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I boosted the rubbers initially at the end of November 2021, then played 3-4 hours with each of them for the following ~3-4 weeks, then re-boosted over X-mas. In my opinion, the booster last a certain number of play hours (my hypothesis is that the oil seeps out through the topsheet and rubs off on the ball and hands). I don't think absolute time from application matters.

    • @ThePongProfessor
      @ThePongProfessor  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I would only boost rubbers one (two think layers as discussed in Part 2). Re-boosting makes the rubbers too soft

  • @jiboo6850
    @jiboo6850 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    how much time of playing did you get before doing the reboosting? because your rubbers look super flat and it shouldn't happen. clearly your blade is sucking the sponges dry. you should put a thin layer of wipe on poly with a clothe. it's a very thin varnish that doesn't leave a coat over the wood. you still feel the wood grain afterwards. even after 6 months mine are still curled.

    • @ThePongProfessor
      @ThePongProfessor  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rubbers did not have a whole lot of time on them. No more than 10 hours. One factor that led to the rubbers being fairly flat following the third booster application, was that I boosted "through the glue layer" when I did the third application (which is why I generally don't boost through the glue layer).

    Does the booster effect wear off more easily under higher heat and cold environment because I left my rubber (DHS hurricane 3 neo provincial) in the car and it was super cold I'm afraid affects the rubbers boosting effect. Also does tackiness go off if it's cold because tackiness is like wet?

    • @ThePongProfessor
      @ThePongProfessor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should always protect you rubber from oxidation by excluding air as much as possible. I doubt that cold temperature negatively affect the rubbers (assuming you allow it to warm up to room temperature before playing with it). Humidity (irrespective if it is warm or cold) decreases tackiness imo, but once humidity is back to "normal", so is tackiness.
