I was a member of a glider club in Sekiyado...One of my greatest experiences and memories of Japan.. Later went to Hawaii for intensive glider training. Even did a few car launches which were scary...
🇬🇧Years ago at North Weald in Essex we had a reverse pulley system , after lunching in a reasonable wind we could let the cable back out again. To still be attached to the cable at 4,000 feet was not unusual let alone good value for the cost of a winch launch ❤🇬🇧
John Gilmer I think this winch is made by Skylaunch Ltd in Shropshire ENGLAND The company has an internet site that includes a lot of details about the wide range of quality winch products they produce.
These are made in the UK, where we don't really need it! It is an option though: "Air conditioning: S-53 Cabin air conditioning system (+£3,124.00)" You're right it's an 8.2L GM V8 engine, so it's easy to do.
Nice video. Love a winch lauch as the acceleration and rate of climb is fun. I notice you don't have "take up slack" commands. How do you take out the slack in the cable as you launch?
Is this vest that you are wearing one of those that has ice water circulating through it? If not, then maybe you should take it off when it is that hot.
Great video, I’m glad you made this I don’t think there are enough winch videos, especially from operators! Thank you

Thank you, a very good look into a winch operator’s world. Nicely done.

Thanks for that Hiroki. Haven't seen the winch setup for launching gliders and was wondering how you would go about it. Quite an operation.
Well run winch operation. Good view of the business end of the launch winch.
I'd like to see more of the details of the winch machine..

Such a cool video! Thanks so much for sharing ☺️👍
This is literally identical to my club in New Zealand! Youve got the mini cable car truck and everything!
Great video on this, buddy. Thanks for the upload
Great video. Love it.
How much does this winch machine cost ? Please provide price breakup of cost and Importing charges (in UK pound )?
Interesting and well made video. Thanks.
Verry 😎 cool. Always happy landings. Aeroclub bexbach EDRX
1st mod I would make is some A/C...if it's a car or truck engine it would be easy to do.

Nice video and good explanation. Love from India

2:43 "The glider on the right is ready" *is* their "take up slack" call. Seems more efficient to me!

I prefer the separate instruction "take up slack". Guess it's just what we get use to. I just love winch launches, much fun.
This is super interesting, thank you
Hi, how long a runway do you have? 500 meters is nice. Oh, I see it now :) 1500 meters.
This has to be a reference video on winch launching gliders. Well done!
Have you guys ever heard of using cars and pullies to launch?
I love this
Thanks. I really enjoyed watching this........
Awesome video bru!!!

Very interesting thank you!
Thanks dude be safe
Well explained video!
Small Prara Shute on the Cable ......need a tad bigger .. Really helps with cable right after release ...
Creates just a little drag ...
if it is that hot temp, why did you pull such warm clothing?
Great video thanks for sharing ..
Rope or cable?
How do you end of the string back to the glider/launch area?
I was at a glider club recently and they got the rope back with a tractor.
What if they can’t release the cable ?
Wow .....too hot guys !!
Greeting from sri lanka.
Next time buy a winch machine with an air conditioned cockpit ;)
Nice
Duuuude,

You are aware that you are wearing 3 pieces of clothes on your upper body.
Could help with the heat if you wear less.
Just saying😉
Its lisky
