- Hey guys! I hope everyone enjoyed the cinematic and review we did for the 2018 718 Cayman GTS. Porsche has always given me an indescribable driving experience. When I get inside, I immediately embody myself with the vehicle. Giving me no opportunity to lose my attention, the Cayman GTS demands the attention of the road as well. Make no mistake when it flies past you and leaving a trail of unforgettable exhilaration. This turbocharged 2.5L Boxer four(4) mid-engine rumbles just behind the edge of your seat, giving you maximum engagement when you tap the throttle. Coming in at just 365 horsepower, the PDK transmission moves at a blink of an eye. I mean come on, this feels like it’s got at least 500 horsepower packed inside. This will definitely be the first Porsche on my bucket list and I’ve never experienced anything like it. Let me know if there is anything that you guys really liked that I may have missed. This may be the only 718 review on youtube that doesn't complain about the sound of the flat 4 engine, so good on you for that. Overall, pretty good review.

How do you like it? I previously owned a 981 CS and it was slow at my altitude. I test drove a 718 base and really liked it so I imagine the GTS is sweet!
@@micraw714 words can't begin to explain how the experience has been. It's been 3 months now and I still walk outside and look at it for like 30 minutes. The driving experience is unmatched

With entry and drive if you tickle the model designation the rear trunk lid opens. If u tickle the front bumper the front trunk lid opens. Painted rear diffuser looks awesome.
Drove this car and feels fast for only having 365 horses and lower torque... imagine with a tune n custom exhaust! Price??

I want to purchase one, but undecided between pdk and 6spd manual. I love standard, but the luxury of pdk and extra performance is quite nice.

alldave I’d recommend the PDK it’s half second faster with sport Chrono and you can shift manually as well as paddle shifters and it’s all working like racing butter. I don’t miss the clutch at all. Good luck

Justin Behan you should try one day, 981 GTS is a hell of a car :) Been driving this and 718 Cayman S and old 6 cylinders are not comparable, even if slightly slower :)

In the US the GTS comes with Sport Chrono. Are you saying in Canada it doesn’t?
In Canada, it is an additional package

The information relayed to us when we picked up the vehicle was that the Sport Chrono was an additional option/package. I could be right/wrong. Let me do some additional research and find the most accurate answer for you!

Maybe the fact that I can't afford one right now haha. But literally have zero criticism for this car; other than the Red seat belt to be done in the exterior colour of the car. But that's all personal preference.
i would love to hear your opinion on this 4 cylinder engine, comparing to the 6 cylinders Caymans used to have. That Classic Porsche growl seemed to be pretty much tuned down ..
Yes! I'm so glad you asked. At the end of the day, a 4 cylinder will never output the raw 6 cylinder sound. However, that goes for 6 will never sound as an 8 and an 8 will never sound as a 12. I think by sacrificing the raw sound a bit, you get better power output. The turbocharged engine on this Cayman had literally 0 lag. It's almost like a good punch of power as soon as the throttle opens. Of course Porsche produces really good NA engines but they have to compromise and set a differentiation between the 718 to the 911 and the GTs for various customers at various price points.
One last thing! They did leave the same PDK transmission across all their performance vehicle which is something I actually give a lot of respect to Porsche for doing so. It allows every customer at various price point all enjoy, probably, one of the best dual clutch transmission on the market.

I'm a mechanical engineering student who has always been in love with Porsches ever since the game NFS Porsche Unleashed , so I know how much power advantage you might get with Turbochargers but I still have some doubts with them since apart from track days, most of the sports and super cars doesn't get the chance of unleashing their full capacity when there will always be speed limits (except for german autobahns). But the sensation of speed varies a lot depending on what kind of an engine you have in your car, which is actually a superior reason of purchase for many People. Maybe I will bury the hatched and one day, when I can afford one, will give into one of these beautiful monsters... And no one shall not question PDK! I will be anxiously waiting for the new GT4. There were some sneak peaks at Monza :) .
