For hell's sake people! Once again, from the start of the damn series, 1955 to 1962 the show was called "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and each story was this length, none of these were cut. Pad on commercial time and his episode specific monologue and epilogue and that's each episode. From 1962 on the episodes were longer and the show was rebranded "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour".

@@pippishortstocking7913, you are absolutely wrong! These shows on YT are approximately 10-minute clips of the original "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" episodes. Do your research. The reason they are cut is to get around copyright laws. All that's shown here is the gist of each story - not the complete episode. No one is confusing "Presents" with "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour."

Yes, this is excerpts from an episode of a drama series. The video poster has edited the full drama down to the most crucial scenes so the gist of the story can be conveyed in a very short time.
I don't know, but I the episodes were almost certainly timed for either half-hour or one-hour time slots. (So about 25 or 50 minutes for the actual program, the rest for "commercials" (adverts).

@@BrittMFH The plot was nonexistent. If it's entirely predictable, what's the point? Harry "borrows" from a couple of shady characters and (no surprise) ends up dead. Where's the twist? Also, what's the business with the bar owner not knowing she and Harry were in the place a week before? Was she imagining it? Alternate reality? Bottom line, the story comes up short the way it was edited.

Maybe women desperate for marriage was a plot for several years after the second world war. Two huge engagements, the two world wars, took many able- bodied marriage age men out of the usa population. Almost every male in my family for three generations served in the USA military. I am here because my maternal grandfather and father were able to come back in one piece. My grandfather died a few years after fathering my mother. He was gassed in Belgium. He was a very talented artist. Then my mom grew up and married a guy who survived the Korean war with no serious scrapes. My two sisters and I are all baby boomers. Two husbands of three served in or during viet nam. The third guy was nowhere near service health level. anyway, just speculation on why this plot line occurs often in Hitchcock from decades ago. I don't know what the percentage of active duty military is with American males in the 20th century, but it has to be very high, because we have had huge numbers of vets for my entire lifetime ( born late 1958) and long before. American veteran services are large organizations, and we have had so many vets for so long that we have only recently started to better meet their many needs if injured seriously. Also, not being married and just living together was definitely not as acceptable as it is now. It has become the rule not the exception
