Thank you Hal!
Three cheers for the camera operator! Hip, hip, hooray! The unsung hero!
Good stuff as always, thanks again for the efforts.
She is a peach!
We already had an A in the family but it was channels like yours (and yours specifically honestly) that made them seem accessible enough for me to buy one myself. Will be a few years before mine is on the road but I thank you for all the content you put out :)
Awesome! Thank you!
You are certainly doing a lot for Model A owners and the owner community; especially for bringing in new Model A fans such as myself.
I'm trying my hardest!! Thank you VB!
I watched this while making breakfast, so instead of cars and coffee, you are "Model A's and Lube"! Great video
Right on!
Although not a standard routine lube practice, when you have the distributor out of the head put some anti seize compound inside the bore of the head where it makes contact with the distributor housing. Be careful not to get the anti seize on the underside of the distributor where it makes an electrical ground. A rusted in distributor is not a fun day on the side of the road when you want to swap in your extra spare one as traffic whizzes past. Good Video!
Excellent input, Mark! Waving a hand at the Tri Cities Model A Club!
Thanks Paul, alway good information.
Awesome as Always, Sir!
Thank you!!
As always great instruction! Always learn something new. Thanks Paul.
Glad you enjoyed it Gary!
Awesome seminar Paul. Good to watch folks that enjoy each others company, also having fun while learning too. Thanks for sharing, I hope you all have a great weekend!
Our club is like a big goofy family! Everyone has each others' back. It's such an uplifting environment. Now you see where I get my eternally positive attitude.
That was great. I sure wish my club did more on those lines instead of just a meeting. Thanks again, hope you and Mrs. S have a great week.
Sorry your club needs a little more oomph, Dean. Maybe take the reins and pump that club up? Our club is so uplifting and positive, it's really like a family.
I have always wanted a Model A. Watching your videos makes me want it more.
Go for it Gary!
Hi Paul!: Great video! Looks like everyone learned something, and had fun too! It's always fun to get together with people that have the same interests.
You got that right!
THANK YOU PAUL! I sent an email to the tech question address and I was answered promptly and with lots of information!
That's what it's all about, my friend!!
Learned many things as always - thank you! I saw another benefit to the club - the camaraderie. The banter proves the friendships. Had to laugh at the bet over a can of soda - that is the standing bet for us at work for everything. Take care, have a great week ~ Chuck
So true! Our club is like a big crazy family.
Your an awesome host and educator to the Model A community. Thanks Paul for the information and I am looking forward to the next video.
Awesome, thank you!
😊❤thank you Paul and Model T for soooooo much love and fun with Model A
Just what I needed Paul. Thank You! I should've watched further into your video before I took apart my horn. LOL
Great seminar Paul. I will be having our club to my garage in September for the 20th seminar at my house. These gatherings keep the members interested and helps keep cars on the road just like your videos help all of us. THANK YOU for another great video. Also thank you for the info on Odelfi lamp. I love it and purchased 5 for wife sons and a dear friend. VOTE FOR PAUL for the MAFCA Board!!
Thank you, Alberto!!
Well, another great practical How to video presented by Model A Guy.
Thanks Steve
Glad you enjoyed it Steve! Big hug for Leah, please.
That is easy 😀
Paul great class
Thanks Matt!
@@ModelA your welcome
Another great video. +1 on the vote for Ed. He was president of my MAFCA chapter last year and is always there to help.
Ed Tolman is one of my favorite people, and he is doing a great job as MAFCA V.P.!
Great job glad you showed the lube spots on original generators- what about the throw out bearing inside the bellhousing
Covered that, just not in this video.
Thank you for inviting us along. I'm a bit ashamed I've done maybe half of these.
No sense dwelling on the past, right? Just move forward, man! Hit them all from now on and call it good.
Nice Paul ,,,, keep these As goin 😊
Need to add the transmission oil check to the rear axle check if you have driven a long enough distance and then drive through standing water with warm cases. The splashing cools the case out fast and creates a vacuum inside that will suck in water any way it can - vent or shafts.. Gear oil detergents can only suspend a limited amount of water. When that is saturated the oil will tend to foam.
Yep! That's right. So we change it and move on.
Got my vote! Awesome channel.
Thank you Glenn!
As I watch your video, I can see that today's cars are less maintenance, but, because of that, they will fail because of less maintenance. Makes me wonder, am I lazy? I'm working 50 plus hours a week at my job, & more at home... do I need to work 70 to 90 hours a week? I watched my time when my first wife was in the hospital - lost her to cancer - & for 9 months, I spent 80 to 90 hours a week with her in the hospital. Not much time for laundry... car stuff, not even on the radar... My Harley was my main ride then :-)
An enjoyable and informative video! He may have been trying to just show insight to a club seminar, but somehow I actually learned something. Thanks for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it Paul!!
Watched a VGG episode and he recommended your channel. Good stuff.
Welcome aboard!
Good job

Thank you!
Another fun, educational video. I need to get into a club to get my feet wet. Thanks!
It's the best way to go
Great seminar my friend. The only thing I could really relate to is the lunch at the end. That was my favorite part of the whole seminar...LOL! Where did you all go out to eat? The views into town are wonderful. I am sure that is what makes living in CA worth it. One of the few reasons, but a big reason :) Hope your weekend is going well my friend. Have a blessed Sunday and God bless!
There you are!! We went to Good Friends Chinese. That place is pretty good. The tour around Hogan Lake is pretty. Good to hear from you! God bless
@@ModelA Chinese is always a good choice :)
Well, the good news more members, the bad news more competition to buy model A's, and more than likely prices will go up. Not likely I will ever own one but I enjoy seeing them repaired and still on the road. I remember many of the cars that were built in the 1930s. My older brother and his friend would buy these cars and then fix and resell them in the 60s when I was a kid. I was lucky to be able to ride in many different cars and trucks from this time period. Thanks for the video, Paul, and take care, Mike
Thanks Mike. Hey, remember when a running/driving Model A could be had for around $500?
@@ModelA My bothers friend had a collection of old Buick's and stored all of them at his parent's house under carports. He would buy them for about $500-$1000 each, but they all looked like new. I think he started buying in the late 1950s.
Great seminar. Especially for us guys that don't have a club nearby. Thanks for going over the lubrication spots that typically get missed. Time to get out my oil can! Good discussion of grease points. What I missed was how the front torque tube bearing and speedo drive gear get lubed (I'll see what your answer is). Also could've briefly discussed speed cable lube, but I know you have covered that in another video. Looking forward to your next Q&A session.
speedo drive and front drive shaft bearing get lubed from the excess grease you pump into the u-joint clamshell.
@@ModelA ok, you pass..
Now we talk about what the service bulletins say about lubricating the u-joint (type of lube....changed)....
thank you friend.
Thank you too Craig!
Well, unless I win the lottery, I will not have an A; there is way too much work, & I do not have the time or resources to care for a car that is designed to take me places with no issues. My MDX is mine for the rest of my life, another 5 to 10 years. ( at 49, CHF, 5 years to live,) today I am 62... still working, but tired most of the time, & now hurt in a lot of places. My younger sister had her hips replaced, & mine hurt, sometimes the pain wakes me up, knees are not much better. I also have lung issues, & allergies. I love your videos, but unless all I needed to do was take care of the car & the garden, the garden will win. Thank you for your wonderful videos :-)
Love the club environment for exchanging information. Our Studebaker Drivers Club chapter doesn't do this very well or at all. Never got back with me when we went on a fall color tour last year. They put out a outstanding monthly magazine, and the Early Ford V8 club also. Over the years we have made friends at every show or cruise in and makes for a good day talking and visiting other car enthusiast's. We wish you luck in the elections Brother. I'll be getting back on the air sometime next year at the new QTH. I might upgrade the license to get all bands. 73 Paul de N8IWS
True to your word you did lube those clevis pins et al .Interesting to see your headlinening is stained same as my 29 blindback !!! No remedy that I know of sadly . excellent video as usual, thank you .
Thank you John!
Mary's "Miseries" was my bible in the '70s. It's Mo LEEN. Very active in the Model A scene in the LA area.
Paul, You do have a wonderful channel that shows a lot about The A's ", but I don't think I will have one. At 62 the end of the month, they are too much work. My MDX & work plus Dashing with my wife keep me busy, add gardening in the morning & evenings, ... I do love your videos, & should I hit the lottery, just maybe... I do thank you for your wonderfully, informative & fun videos, they are :-) !!! Great!
If you get a Model A all sorted out, they are very little work. But way more fun than a computerized jellybean on wheels.
Super helpful videos. I'm having a lot of fun learning about my new to me 29 Speedster with your videos! Is it weird to watch your videos while under the car, I cant be the only one, right???
Not at all. Nobody will judge you here! Perfectly acceptable behavior
Yes I voted for you and Ed.
Thank you!!
Sorry Paul, I just cannot vote away a person willing and qualified to serve on the board. As a serving board member[T club] as we speak, I see the enthusiasm for Model A's growing too. Of course videos from you and others have helped tremendously. Bravo! Can't we grow the board as well by 1 member? Isn"t the sandbox big enough for us all? Who knows. that reject may just have the answer we need when we need it.
I'm confused. What or who did I ever suggest voting out?? I asked for your vote, and asked a vote for Ed Tolman as well.
Thanks! Now for some coffee to lube the belly. Betcha didn't have that on the list to lube!
Hahaa! Nope. THANK YOoU! You are so generous!
I think the only grease fitting you missed was on the shift linkage when the inspection cover on the transmission is removed under the floor Great informative video thanks from John
You mean the throwout bearing carrier? Done that so many times already. This video was already too long. Had to cut it.
@@ModelA thanks for responding All the best with your health John
@@ModelA A good video is never too long.
Much appreciated, would be helpful to have bright light closeups of the points being lubricated otherwise we have to rely on the black on black verbal descriptions.
This video was to show what a club seminar is like and what to expect. The actual work being done has already been covered in previous videos, so I didn't bother going into details. Thanks!
Loving the information. At the intro you mention 3 books but only tell what 2 of them are.......What is the 3rd one please?
The red book by Les Andrews
Good video Paul. I don't think many people in our club maintain their Model A's as they should. Do you ever add a drop of oil to the door dovetails? My dovetails have a hole in the top and bottom and is filled with a felt material. I didn't see this mentioned.
I went over everything. Had to leave a lot of that out of the video.
I'd love to bring my model a to you to have it looked at, I've neglected it for too long
That is exactly why you join a club! Take it to a tune up seminar.
Hey Paul you have my vote, A have a little question is it normal to get some gas flumes in the cab when in idol??
Thanks! sitting still? Yea.
Oh, and could've included the throwout bearing carrier lube point. Maybe I missed that part of the video.
I've shown that in other videos. This one was getting too long.
@@ModelA can never be too long! I can watch these all day long! Derek is up to two hours now, and that's not enough! Haha!
Great channel. Glad to see you are ok. Life long dream to own a model a. Been in love with them since childhood. One of my earliest childhood memories was riding in one in my third birthday. I remember it like yesterday. I wanted to contact you with a question and when I googled you it appeared as s thought you had passed. I’m so glad to see that’s not true. I found one for sale in poetry good shape all original for 11 k but has no overdrive Abe’s didn’t know how to move forward. I v wanted it as my daily driver. So glad to see you are up and running.
What a great memory! Hold on to that, sounds like a great "happy place" kind of memory.
I have a beautiful 1930 Plymouth 4-door sedan. Do I qualify for the model T club?
Okay, where can a person get an oiler like you gave around? I do not mean a free one but I will buy mine, i just need to know where to purchase one? Thank you.

When I first got into the antique car scene back in 2008, Mac's Auto Parts had a fairly decent selection of parts available for my 1932 Model 18 pickup, but now Eckler's bought out Mac's, and there doesn't seem to be that much available. I'm guessing that some of the parts are interchangeable between the Model A and 18 vehicles? Any recommendations on other supply houses? Thanks.
I use Mike's A-fordable in Georgia and Arizona Model A Parts for stuff mostly. Bratton's is good. Snyder's is good. Bert's is good.
Thanks Paul.
Hello Paul, I had a rough day yesterday. Car would not turn over. Starter just spun. Pulled the starter and yep, the one bolt on the bendix fell out and into the bell housing. Now What? Have you ever done a video on this? I am a newbie to the model A
Sorry to hear that Rick. Have fished out many bendix bolts from flywheel housings! I use a strong magnet on the end of a flexible shaft. Remove starter and dish the shaft into tue bottom of the housing through the hole where the starter used to be. When you hear a "click", the magnet found it!
Thanks Paul I will give that a try. @@ModelA
Also, what oil is in your little spout bottle oiler?
I see now it is motor oil......
Yep
Have a photo of pa sitting on the hood of his Model T smoking a cig with a lady friend standing on each running board; 1920s thug life.
Why hasn’t Jay Leno invited you on his TH-cam show?
Because I'm just a regular guy. I'm not on Jay's radar. That dude is WAY out of my tiny league.
Be careful where you wiggle your clevis. If you do it in public, you might get arrested!😮
