A strong, eloquent and reasonable account for why foxhunting should continue. It is refreshing to hear someone place their views calmly, informatively unlike the arrogant, ranting and abusive conduct of those against this country sport!
I'm glad I hunt in America. Farmers and landowners are mostly supportive and don't care if you use their land as long as you are polite about it and fix your damages. The nonhunting populace doesn't even know foxhunting exists. As for the government....it has many more important issues to tackle than trying to control hunting. It is the least of our worries here!!!
Point is other hunters kill foxes. Or as I've seen, injure the animal & it crawls off to die a slow painful death. Farmers will also kill the foxes as they are predators killing small livestock & even pets. Landowners ask us to hunt foxes. Is it jealousy that motive some people to be against an honest sport.
I love how the narrator mentioned that some of the animal rights lunatics believe fox hunting to be a class war. He hit the nail on the head. It's an ideology straight from the "anarchists" of the early 19th century, and has always had a place in fascism/communism, from Karl Marx to Hitler. Aside from that, Marx, specifically, was a class war inciter, and the vast majority of AR supporters today are Marxists/leftists. God bless this great English sport and the men and women who fought so hard to uphold it.
Missgendo it just shows that people like u really don't have a clue, there won't be any cubs this time of year as they would of all grown up,KEEP HUNTING FIGHT THE BAN
As I write, foxhunting has been banned. The argument that replacing it with drag hunting is rather flawed, because the trail can be laid over the same variety of terrain with obstacles that could have been encountered while foxhunting. My local hunt has made the transition. However, I am almost certain that drag hunting is often used as a screen for foxhunting because if hounds “accidentally” pick up the scent of a fox, the hunt staff are not held responsible, and there are various ways of increasing that probability depending on the level of surveillance they are under. Even before the ban, the chances of a hunt resulting in a kill were fairly slim (which outs a bit of a hole in the “population control” argument) but when it has occurred, it has involved running a terrified animal to exhaustion over a protracted period, not to mention sending terriers into an earth when the fox goes to ground, hence my misgivings. But more recently there was a case not far from my home of a huntsman feeding live fox cubs to hounds at the kennels, which at the time was condemned by the hunting fraternity itself, but which may have been rooted in anger that he allowed himself to get caught red handed and undermined their cause. Because as the intention was to “educate” young hounds regarding their intended quarry, it seems likely to me that this was, and maybe still is, not an uncommon practice.
If that huntsman did feed clubs to hounds that's unacceptable. As once the fox has gone to ground, it not flushed out by small terrors, or smoked out. In the states once the goes to ground, it's won the day. We return home, or select another hunt area. Our hounds are fed dog food. But foxes are predators. Killing livestock & pets.
The whole scenario is virtually irreversible, people would have to reevaluate the way they live in order to find a working solution. As we all know, most people just aren't willing or capable of putting that kind of pressure on themselves.
Keep hunting! Brilliant experience from what I've heard, its just my mum doesn't agree with it so she wont let me go! -_- Really makes me angry, Im so desperate to go!
most hunts are now made up of people from all walks of life.go have a look.the sabs are depressed disenfranchised, ghetto heads,as in lost in their stinky cities.they have no idea what people in the country are about, that is their issue.because its not like the life they live they see it as a threat.the issue of land has always been about the tennent farmer owning not renting the land.there are a lot of small family run farms, they are not rich in money.these are the people who put milk, veg etc in your local super market.but you want to harass the people who are the back bone of most communities.you cant eat a computer or a video camera!!
I wish I could go fox hunting! Work and money are the only reason I can't. There is nothing wrong with fox hunting at all, as he said, it's survival of the fittest! The clever and strong ones get away which makes for a healthier fox population with less of the scabby weak foxes. FIGHT THE BAN!!! KEEP HUNTING!!!
@MissGenDow im pretty sure actually killing the fox doesn't really happen anymore. besides, most of the people that hunt nowadays go for the riding, not the hunting. i know i do. last time we went out we didn't even find a fox. foxhunting is mainly just for the riding thrill and gossip....not brutally killing helpless animals...
@TigerHorsexxx Not to mention they let the blood hounds rip the Wild foxes to pieces in cold blood, know something else? When they go through urban areas they let the hounds rip cats and dogs to pieces because they dont care.
Properly trained hounds DO NOT attack any animal, but a fox. Hence the word " foxhound". If you see them going after other animals, they are NOT trained foxhounds. Why would a registered hunt use untrained hounds?
the real animals here are the ones riding the horses. thinking that it is exceptable to have a defenseless fox being torn to pieces and applauding the act afterwards!!!!
Foxes are predators killing livestock & pets. The fox is killed instantly. Usually the huntsman calls the hounds off, not allow a fox be torn apart. What about the gun hunter, only u injures the animal & let's it crawl off to die a slow painful death. Get real. Landowners ask us to eliminate the fox. To save their pets & livestock.
I spent my childhood in the countryside. I am glad this is banned, and sad that hunts openly flout the law. I know that fox earths were blocked overnight before the hunt, any fox able to evade the hounds and go to ground would be dug or flushed out and then thrown to the hounds. Foxes caught in snares and traps were held captive until they could be released, already injured and exhausted, in front of the hunt to be sure of a kill. It's not at all sporting and it is not useful. Keep the ban.
A question for the Fox Hunts. I am neither pro nor against I just wish to be informed. What are the odds of getting a fox at a normal hunt? To someone who knows nothing about hunting (me) it looks unfair, so many riders and dogs against one fox. But is it unfair? Does the fox stand a chance? Cheers to all.
Chances are slim. We have never killed a fox. It's smart & knows every cover there is. They evade getting caught. But in the states, we play a biter better than others. Once the fox has gone to ground, it's won the day. The hounds are called off & we return to the club house. Or find another area to hunt, if still early in the hunt.
And fishing isnt? Would you catch a fox in the same way as a fish? Fisherman allways come out with"fish dont feel pain". Bollocks! If fish didnt feel pain they would have died out thousands of years ago, If fish were furry and had vocal chords you might think differently.
Im not a police officer and I didnt call you a pleb, I called you an idiot. A remark that I stand by and is reinforced everytime yoy post another comment.
Only Brirts could think a sport was dressing up in outragous outfits, 150 people against a fox that must weigh 8 lbs, followed by 150 dogs and ripping up someone's property. Do they still do the blooding?
I think fox hunting should be banned. Imagine how the poor animals feel when their being chased then ripped to pieces by the hounds and then what if the fox had cubs somewhere in the forest that will all just die because they have no mum!
Foxhunting is a winter sports. No cubs, all grown. It's an instant death for the fox. As the fox knows every cover to be had, going to ground isn't that hard. They can even go up a tree. The old & the sick may not escape death. Get educated before confirming us. The gun hunter only injures the animal & let's it crawl off to die a slow painful death. Condem them.

Also it's a quick death.
Hunters with guns tend to only injure an animal and allow it to crawl off to die a slow painful death.
Get educated.
I kindof disagree with needing to be defensive about the fox hunting. I think all the dogs and the horses would agree with me.
Fox hunting will end
