Since this video goes into no detail about how to tell the difference (no offense), I figured I'd dig out my bin of NGPC games and compare them for myself. I have legit US copies of Gals Fighters and Metal Slug 2nd Mission, so I compared them to the fakes shown in this video. Gals fighters just looks completely wrong here, the real one should have a different logo, a black ESRB rating, and background art with picture of Nakoruru. Most fakes seem to be this way, with just a plain white background with a crappy logo pasted on top that doesn't resemble the authentic label at all, so if you fall for these then I don't know what to tell you. NGPC labels also have a very distinct printing "texture" to them that's visible when held up to a light, which I imagine the fakes don't replicate, but I don't own any fakes so I can't say for sure. Metal Slug 2nd Mission is closer to the real thing, but has a blurry label and the corners of the label are much rounder than my legit copy as well as others I've seen online. The back of my legit cartridge also says "Patents Issued and Pending" which the fake doesn't say. None of my 21 other US games say this on the back shell, but other copies of Metal Slug 2nd Mission on ebay appear to also say this, so it seems to be a common thing for this game. From looking at the aliexpress listings selling the fakes, I also noticed that they often censor the SNK logo from the bottom left of the cartridge. Seems to be a photo editing thing to avoid copyright, since we can see here that the SNK logo is present on the fakes, so it's not a reliable indicator (in case someone resells a fake on ebay or something). From the other video showing the internals of the fakes, they appear to have purple PCBs surrounding the contacts, which I imagine would be visible without opening the game, but I can't say for sure since you didn't show this and I don't own any fakes. For what it's worth, on authentic cartridges this area is sometimes green while other times it's white. The internals of the fakes appear to be clone flash mastas, which I've also seen in black. I can't go into much more detail than this since I don't own any fakes myself to do a proper comparison and I'm also not an expert on this console, but hopefully this is helpful to anyone else who finds this video and wonders what the differences are.
I think you should be able to see the PCB color without having to open the housing by tilting the case and looking into it. I was watching a different youtube video of someone buying neo geo games at a convention and he kept tilting the cases which I think was him checking to see if they were real.
Hopefully it's hard to tell. But if you're at a convention you are allowed to check by opening. Most of this is because scalpers are moving to selling expensive games online misrepresenting what they are selling.. It's a problem that is going to get worse in time
I do say in the video you have to open it up and see the board. I also said I had another video showing the boards and differences between them th-cam.com/video/n2AtfJBiTKk/w-d-xo.html

I literally have in the description of the taredown of these carts
For reasons of keeping videos short i hate doing long videos because people don't like being on a video longer than a few minutes.

@@owomushi_vrthe PCB of the real games are green. The fake ones I imagine are white or some other color.
Open up a real one and a fake one and show us the difference?

Ya they are very different.
Wait. Is it hard to tell?
Not really. The inside of the real games are green. The fake ones are a different color.
Okay got it its really really hard to tell the difference, but how about telling us noobs how to tell the difference past it just being hard.
