    Prefer this over the ucs model. For one, this one doesn't require a trip to ikea for new furniture

    The human side of the opinion that you provide is so valuable. Thanks for staying independent and just buying what you personally want. Especially into 2024, 98% of reviews are thinly disguised marketing advertisements.

    Yeah, it's a really good looking Millennium Falcon. The angled stand and prints are the cherry on top.
    I love Star Wars, but the other Falcon sets are just too big an ask for me.
    $85 still feels like too much, though. If it had been around $70, it would have felt much more palatable.
    About the sale thing, many of us won't want to wait for a sale, and I've often seen that by the time LEGO itself puts a set on sale, the set is on the verge of being sold out, or already is. End of life for the product run, as you said.
    Another thing I'm concerned about, and I'm not sure how LEGO thinks about this, is if they don't sell well enough, LEGO will throw their hands up and say the starship line wasn't successful, and stop making them. If they sell well, prices stay the same or even increase. It feels like a no win scenario.

      I feel like you took my thoughts and put them into a comment so perfectly. I agree with everything you just said. I love Star Wars too and want to have some of the main ships and vehicles on display like the Falcon, X-Wing, Slave I, TIE Fighter , AT-AT, etc. but the UCS ones are too big. The minifigure compatible ones are good but once you have a few of them, they start to feel big too. I always thought the original midiscale line was great but it came out at the wrong time. Adults buying Lego weren't as big an audience as they are now.
      The price is the only thing putting me off and I'll be waiting for a sale but that worries me because I did the same with the diorama sets and some of them only went on sale a few times and I missed them. By the end, one of them got discontinued before I bought it and I paid more than standard price to get it. I also have the same worry about Lego not selling these because they're overpriced and then being shocked in 2/3 years that they didn't sell well so they cancel the line

    • @leoismaking
      @leoismaking 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I was about to say the same thing. If all Lego across the board were staying on the shelves, they might lower the prices. But if this specifically goes unsold, they'll just kill the Starships line which would be sad. Conversely, the Invisible Hand for $50 might get me to pick it up, even if it's just in the hopes that we'll get a similar-scale Venator someday.

      I have the play scale set from Solo, and I've ended up putting it in storage after a couple of years as it just took up too much room for what it was & I had other sets I liked better - my wife offered to buy me the UCS Falcon for a birthday present, but again I just thought where the hell am I going to put it? It's too big! This is perfect - I've just completed the Tantive IV so this one will probably be next as I've already seen it for 20% off, if I can't find the Invisible Hand on sale (which seems to be much harder to get at the moment)

  • @TheToodlesTeam
    @TheToodlesTeam 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +69

    I feel like the "chunkiness" of this being at a smaller scale really helps with the suggestion of detail. The larger versions end up looking kind of smooth by comparison. The price hurts...but I did actually buy this set, so I guess it didn't hurt enough.

    Surprisingly for being the one Millennium Falcon that’s not meant to be played with, it actually looks the easiest to pick up and play with as a ship. Most Lego Millennium Falcons are basically dollhouses, they’re intended for playing inside of instead of picking up and flying around. They’re usually just way too big to comfortably pick up and swoosh around. But this one actually looks like the perfect size for that, which in my opinion makes it a better toy ship, but unfortunately because of the price most kids probably wouldn’t buy this and the people who are willing to spend that money on it would probably just be the kind of people who want to display it and not play with it, which is perfectly fine, but it’s just sad that kids have never had a Lego Millennium Falcon (aside from the micro-fighters and mini models) that they can actually pick up and fly around, and the one time there is one it’s too expensive

    So happy to see it's pure prints, no stickers. I hate and loathe stickers. I found a site that sells printed versions of the parts that would otherwise be stickers. Not cheap, don't get me wrong, but when I am especially aggrieved about too many stickers, I spend the extra, wait a few weeks for them to produce the printed parts, and then buy the printed parts instead of using the stickers, which always always stay on their backing sheets unused.

    I know this set isn’t for everyone. But as someone who hasn’t bought too many Star Wars sets recently, and is still saving for ucs, this set was an insta buy for me. The four quadrant dual level system was kinda weird at first, but the way they click together is very satisfying. No stickers, and a very accurate scale was a joy to build and display. And I agree, the stand was very surprising yet satisfying

    Great review Jang.., Picked mine up from Myer in Australia on Sale for AUD $ 110.00 = USD $ 73.00. Looking forward to its delivery early this week!
    I also managed to pick-up the Droideka at Big W department Store this week on sale for AUD $ 68.00 = USD $ 45.00 . That was a "mind-boggling" AUD $ 62.00 saved from the retail price selling currently across the 2 sets on the Lego Store. Look, when lego 'over-price' themselves out of the market like this, they can keep their rewards points ! - It pays to shop around People!

    I’ve never been into midi-scale Lego stuff before, but I’ve always wanted a Millennium Falcon and I’ve never had a guest house in which to keep one in. But, this one looks fantastic and is the right size to sit on my desk. I think I’m going to have to get this one. Great review!
    I also love how the stand angles the ship. It makes it look like a dynamic flight shot.

    • @JANGsLEGOreviews
      @JANGsLEGOreviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +27

      $50-60 USD isn't terrible and the molding is exquisite. Problem with the Bandais is they *need* a ton of washing, weathering, and other hand painting & detailing to come even close to box art quality. Straight built they look like prototypes, agonizingly plain. I did simple washes on the atst & Vader's TIE x1, and went much farther with the Red Five you can just see on one of my shelves. Satisfying if you have the time & extra materials. They really need to show straight builds on the box tho; it's false advertising as is.

    Its definitely expensive for what it is, but vs the UCS or even the minifig scale Falcons, it's the cheapest and still very cool. I have Lego Star Wars sets going back to the original 1999 X-Wing and Snowspeeder sets, and this is the first Falcon I've bought.

    It looks so much better in this video than it did in marketing pictures and on the box. And no stickers is a win. I don't think I hate the chunkyness anymore. However all the Midi-scale prices turn me off. They all need a sale to feel like that should have been the full price. So I will wait until next year on them. The 75257 Falcon is still on my list for this year, it just hasn't had a sale in a long time it feels like.

    I tend to agree about having this Millenium Falcon at a price of 75$, even if it's wishful thinking, it would be nice. A bonus feature would have been cool, if you didn't want to put it in the stand, you could build the landing gears and even the laser turrets underneath the ship, but that's just a small nitpick. I would love to pick this one up, the Millenium Falcon is after all, one of the most iconic ship in Star Wars.

    Gosh, I remember getting the first midi scale falcon for christmas in the 2010s. That was $40. Now, it alone, sells for $65 USED and this contemporary costs $85 (still quite pricy as $40 is only $58-$60 today).

  • @jamescarroll384

    I think its the nicest midi ship, and will likely sell the best simply because it is the most recognisable. Much like the helmets, I'll certainly buy it but I'll wait till its below £50 on discount. I got most of the helmets for £42ish, and I figure these ships will go there as well.

    Let’s be honest, people are gonna eat this up. It may still be overpriced but it’s the cheapest Lego millennium falcon plus it’s a proper display model that looks great and is built well. Literally everyone who’s wanted a millennium falcon (which I’d wager is almost all Star Wars fans and even casual fans since it’s the most popular ship in the series) for display who can’t afford the UCS set will be getting this. I’d be surprised if this doesn’t sell like hotcakes.

    I know it's expensive, but this model is quite possibly the only one which can justify the price. Maybe it's the lack of stickers or the excellent presentation or the nice scaling, but I know that real Star Wars fans won't mind getting this for their collection. As someone who is only slightly interested in Star Wars, this will definitely be my first and only Millennium Falcon. 😊

    the way I think about the variance in representations of in universe vehicles from Star Wars in toy form, specifically Lego, is the same one Sam Witwer talks about Dave Filoni having explained to him. It's all tall tales, told around a campfire. different details every time, the same broad strokes and basic shapes, but the details stand out in different places at different times.
    It's all real, all of it, and that's the nature of the whole story.

    The last midi scale millenium falcon was $39.99usd.
    That's where we wanted the prices for these midi scale starships. If they were a direct replacement for the helmet line they should have stayed in that price range. Instead it will cost the median worker in Australia 5 hours salary to buy this.

    Double those $85 and -give it to another person- buy a play scale model with way more pieces and minifigs

    It's overpriced. Somewhere a line has to be drawn even for a movie fan. This is not for me. Wouldn't buy it even for $50.
