Nice video. A few comments. The NATO thing, it would probably be more unsafe if we weren`t members, plus Norway was one of the founding members. Also a comment about Sigrid, I see that you are in the UK, and she is playing Wembley Arena in november, so she has had some hits in the uk, her album actually went to #2 earlier this year

Voss is similar to tap water. Norwegian tap water is generally of very high quality, especially water from western Norway and northern Norway. You can drink water directly from the rivers. No problem!
Here you can read about "bygdedans", Paul.

In the summer it can can get extremely hot. 30° Celsius is not that uncommon.

30° Celsius is not "extremely hot." Globally, it can just barely be considered "hot". The hottest recorded temperature on Earth is 56.7° Celsius.

Norwegian tap water is the cleanest in the world. That's why Voss water is exspensive.😃

You can get a tan in Norway, especially if you live in the southern parts of the country, but it depends on the weather. In summer we can get temperatures up to 30 degrees celsius, and even more. Actually I have experienced 30 degrees for a few days in the northernmost county, Finnmark. Usually it is somewhere between 15 and 25 degrees celsius, depending on where you live. The average temperature in the capital Oslo in July is 22 degrees. Bathing temperatures usually is around 18 degrees, some days up to 20 degrees. On the west coast the water is colder, and of course in the north, too. What is special with the Nordic summers is the light, as you mentioned. Midsummer nights in the north are magical with the midnight sun.

    Bottling source controversy
In October 2010, Norway's TV 2 reported that Voss has the same source as tap water from the municipal water supply in Iveland and, contrary to Voss marketing,[8] that this is not artesian.[9][10][11] TV 2 stood by these claims despite Voss's objections.[12] -Wikipedia
I am unsure what is true, but water in Norway is very safe to drink and tastes good/fresh.
And yes, I have eaten reindeer and it is wonderful. Especially when salted. It is close to the taste of moose. If you are ever in Scandinavia (especially up north) try reindeer when you can.
The royal family has some drama, but not extreme. I think we really hit the jackpot with our king, he knows how to unite Norway with his speeches. The royals feel like people and not crazy celebrities.
And yes, skiing is a thing we do in Norway, if there is snow, there are skiiérs. If there is no snow then some people who really love skiing have shorter skiis with tiny wheels under them.
Our summers are short-ish, at least when it is "hot". The highest natural temperature I have experienced in Norway was 28*Celcius.

  • @throfur3489
    @throfur3489 ปีที่แล้ว +2

We have drama with the royal family, but mostly with the princess (who is not in line to take over after Harald). She's a bit "spiritual" and is dating a guy even more "spiritual" (self proclaimed american shaman). Most norwegians are not on board with their way of thinking when it comes to health and how to treat illnesses. Our crown prince Haakon Magnus is the heir, and there's pretty much no drama there with him nor with the king and queen.
And yes, I've had reindeer. It's great. It's part of the sami culture in the north to use everything from the reindeer. So meat for food, antlers are used, and the pelt for boots etc.

🇳🇴 Hello from Kristiansand, Norway 🇳🇴
The Voss water is Spring water from a Spring in Iveland municipality. So it's from a Spring, very clean and nice water. But the people living there also get all their water from that Spring. Voss is a Norwegian-based botteled-water
company from the village of Vatnestrøm in Iveland
municipality, Agder county. They tap the Spring water from the Spring, and fill the bottles.

We are very fond of our cabins. We love to get out of the city and spend time in nature.
Simple cabins without electricity and running water are still common, but many have solar cells and batteries, so they have enough for light and a little extra. If there is running water in the cabin, it is often from a water tank inside the cabin that is filled either with roof water or from a well. The fact that you don't have wifi is basically a big advantage for people who want to get away from work and obligations. If you are at the cabin, you have a valid reason not to participate in online meetings or work from the cabin. You are there to relax and recharge, enjoy nature and spend time with your family.
The toilet is often a dry closet that needs to be emptied at regular intervals. It's going well, we're used to it. Today, however, many people have acquired cabins with all facilities. The discussion revolves around whether they are actually cabins, or whether it is a second home.

About the great success in winter olympics: The most important reason why Norway does so well in the Winter Olympics is that we have an approach to children's sports that stands out from other countries.
When children play sports, they should have fun! Everyone who participates must be motivated by being encouraged to participate, not for results. It is allowed to compete, but everyone under the age of 13 who participates must have a prize. It's not the results that count, but your own coping. You are thus competing with yourself, and not with others. Therefore, result lists for children under 13 are not published.
Sport has a responsibility to get parents and coaches to emphasize mastery and learning in order to create the greatest possible enjoyment of sport, which means that more people continue longer with physical activity and sport.

The drama in the Norwegian royal family has been a few over the years. Our current king, King Harald fell in love with a girl of the people, which was unheard of at that time. He was willing to renounce his right to the throne if he was not allowed to marry Sonja. He waited for her for ten years.
Their son, Haakon, also chose a girl from the people. The problem was that she already had a son. Today they are married and have two children in addition to Mette Marit's son Marius, who is a natural part of the family. He is now an adult.
Haakon's sister Märtha is probably the one who has caused the most commotion. She is of the alternative type, she has run an angel school where you could allegedly learn to talk to angels. Norwegians are not particularly religious, and many consider themselves atheists. In recent years, she has been with a shaman from America. He has a somewhat peculiar reputation, making statements that make people think he is a charlatan. He's dark-skinned, and the media says he's not liked because he's black, but that's just nonsense. I don't think skin color matters to most Norwegians. You are judged based on what you say and do, and not because of the color of your skin.

There are no drifters at Svalbard, to live there you have to have a job and manage to live there by yourself, because of the status of the island, you can live there if you have a job without having a Visa in Norway ... infact I believe there are living someone there that was expelled from Norway because they did not get a visa or it expired.... they can live there as long as they can pay for themself.

Hi, funny to see how foreigners see our country! The band black metal band you think of is maybe Mayhem ? They have a legend-status in many countrys in South America f.ex. Its called true norwegian black metal. Bygdedans you may search for better results by traditional folkmusic in norway. In norwegian: Tradisjonell folkemusikk. Or Hardingfele.

There are no "shifters" on Svaldbard. You have to work or do something useful to live there.
Historicly coal and hunting drove the place. Now its Tourism and scientists from all over the world.
I bet the "Sysselman", the states representative, would pay for the transport back to the mainland after the autopcie, if someone had an accidental fatality up there.

Ooof! The Norwegian royal family and drama...
Well, Princess Martha Louise takes care of all the drama on her own. In the past she's been running an angel school, teaching how to contact angels and so on.
She is now engaged to a self-proclaimed shaman, from the US, called Shaman Durek, and together they're basically a laughing stock for our country.
The rest are well educated and good people.
