This video was lovely 🥰 you did a good job too in explaining it for someone who does not know much about the Samoan 🇼🇸 culture. Like I know tattooing is an important part of the Samoan 🇼🇸 culture but it’s good to know further details about it. Fa’afetai ❤

Yet there’s people who literally abuse the history of it by tattooing it on your legs and feet and then there’s those young ones who only to do it to show it off because it looks “cool” .

Do you have to speak Samoan to have the Malu? I've met many who have the Tatau but does not speak the language. It's something that always made me curious

Born and raised in American Samoa and I'm from the village of ALAO.
Honestly, I've always wanted to get a MALU when I was in High School. It's not like I wanted a MALU for the hell of it. The main reason why i wanted a MALU is because I'm proud to be a full blood Samoa and my Home is where my heart is.
I understand the true fact of having a MALU you gotta have a partner with you which means you're not alone . There are tons of USO Samoa youngsters and adults that I've watched their videos on TH-cam showing their beautiful MALU and I was like WOW .. happy for them USO's though 👍 It's alright to show it off to the whole world to see and understand who we are as TEINE SAMOA.. MALO LAVA USO MATAGOFIE MAI LAU MALU chooooooooohooooooo

I'm getting mine this Fall, I understand its meaning behind the markings. Mark of service to the family and to the village , country samoa. That pattern is primarily for Samoa under the Tufugas combination. I'm Chinese Samoan and I'm not the show off kind, in fact I hate to show it off but deep down inside it's my identity , actually where I am I might get killed for having it. So not worth showing it off. But if push comes to shove somebody gonna get a hurt real bad.....somebody ☝🏼
