This series is less concerned about the “how”, and more concerned about the “what” it stands for. Take for instance the “radio” in FR. You can easily see the ties they’re trying to do to the other series. However, when looking at it through a narrative lens, its the prime example of “facade”. Na’el going on and on about how “perfect” this world is, when really it’s ripe with the denial of rights, political strife, and people seemingly running away from this world via spaceships.
Right?? Once you hear the contrasts of what she’s saying versus the political turmoil being reported on the radio, it kinda comes across that Ontos is just showing her what happened to be a nice day while the world was crumbling

The Xeno series hits such a specific niche. I didn't know until 2021 that they were the kinds of games that were right up my alley. And I only learned about it through videos on TH-cam. These games really need more attention.
There is a fairly sizeable HC for Sena being autistic, and Sena would be high-empathy and Nikol is low-empathy. And makes sense to both the social strengths and faults they both experience. Sena reads Mio’s anxieties better than Noah, but also gets manipulated more easily by somebody she thought she could relate to. And Nikol has troubles reading Glimmer’s subtler expressions, but Nikol shows while you were out snuffing he was studying the Variable Backpack.
I wish they would too. It's not too tall an order and they don't even need to original crew to do it. There is a bit of fixing to do with the English localization(there's a mod for this now actually called Perfect Works mod on githud) but otherwise it just needs a graphical update and maybe some more stuff to do on the world map/sidequests.

This is what I've been waiting for. I found your channel when your orignal Xenoblade vid popped up in my feed and I've binged your content ever since. It's good for a fresh perspective/intellectual conversation on series I know, and even the ones I don't know. You have such a way with your words that I've picked up several turns of phrase and vocabulary for my own daily life, along with your voice being so pleaseing to listen to. I often find myself coming back to watch them on a second screen while I'm plugging away at my own games. Especially your long form vids like this. Xeno has needed love like this and you delivered exceptionally. So thank you, KBash, and keep on keepin' on!
Although it never concluded, I love the X plot. It takes time and is interspersed with small, simple stories, but it never feels as forced as some of the other Xenoblade plots can feel -- I want the same thing the characters want, and I want to know they same things they want to know. There's very little of that DND "do the adventure just because it's an adventure." Mix that with the exhilarating scale and movement (not an exaggeration) along with the confusing but fun combat and if it weren't for the Wii U dying out and preparing to transition to the Switch, I feel like I could have kept playing the game for maybe even 100+ more hours than I actually did, and I *didn't even fully understand the battle system*. Compare that with XC1 & 2 which I enjoyed a lot but left me feeling exhausted and ready to move on by the end. I really hope we will get either a return to Mira in the form of a remake, a sequel, or a spiritual successor relatively soon.
Watched this entire thing just for the Xenoblade X part, thanks Kbash, you earned a sub. I have a sealed japanese copy of the OST that I will never open and will likely encase it in some sorta box one day and use it as a conversation piece.
I spent a lot of time playing through all the Xenoblade Chronicles games shortly before 3 released. I had never got into Xenoblade 1, but something about how 3 looked really spoke to me. And I'm glad I did, I love this series, and Future Redeemed wrapping up really brought me to the series being my favorite set of games ever. This game series truly spoke to my heart and brought me to tears several times. Loved watching your series on this, great vid.

I love Xenogears so much. I even made my first ever GeoCities webpage heavily based around it, to the point that I played Midi tracks of it's music (And FF6) and linked ad banners for it. What can I say? It, along with Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 7 completely turned around my opinion of JRPGs and turned me from a CRPG snob into a well-rounded role-player! (and YES the game was utterly mind-blowing upon release.)

Even if you aren't around to fix it there will always be the next generation to fight for a better world. And we see that come to fruition in Xenoblade 3 with the Ouroboros team and everyone else in Aionios finally free themselves from the Endless Now. It took more than 1000 years but it happened. Before Aionios completely died due to the annihilation events slowly destroying the world. And we see that the 2 worlds do merge back together. Fixing the wrongs Klaus caused with his experiment from millennia ago. We even get a star falling to the merged Earth. Which very clearly is meant to reference or even be KOS-MOS from Xenosaga. Which is very cool if they do manage to have a proper crossover between Blade and Saga. Cause the idea of the Earth Klaus destroyed being Lost Jerusalem from Xenosaga is pretty wild. And gives a good in-universe reason as to where it was and why no one ever found it. tdlr. Xenoblade 3 and FR really paid off the message Saga 3's ending left

Great video. I was initially let down by the Chronicle game's move away from the hard space sci fi setting. But once I got into 2, I immediately played DE and 3 released less than a year later. Favorite game series ever. Even when I have no idea what's happening with the plot, I still appreciate the characters and I emotionally respond since, whatever the F is going on, XBC almost always earn those moments.

very amazing video. im not gonna watch the xenosaga section cuz im planning to play it myself but everything is spot on. Also thank you for understanding XCX and appreciate what it does incredibly well unlike the most of the fandom . i swear, XCX is years ahead from games ive played to this day, and it's 9 yo. and yeah, most of its great mechanics are lore related, reason why they didnt do it again in the next games( at least keep the sprint??) AND YESSS I liked X plot. narratively it's not really good with terrible pacing, but managed to keep my interest til the end! one thing that absolutely adore is how GIGANTIC the monsters are, and how tiny we are also the fact you can target specific monster parts and break them (horn, tail, head, appendices etc) to get specific loot really added more flavor to the gameplay. it's my favorite game of all times and seeing it being talked in a positive light really makes me tears up lol damn you made me want to go for a third playthrougt lmaoo (also man, i wish people didnt play X the same way they would play the mainline games. they expect rushing thru the story, ignoring exploration and side quest (that give fuck ton lore especially the yielv one + fleshes out the cast better.), then complain it's bad and too hard. i saw people like this)

Just two little things about xenoblade 2, Nia actually being a blade is kinda foreshadowed by the direction of her ears xD (they are inverted to all gormoti) and the Titans don't merge into a landmass but collectively dock at a landmass the architect created as one of his last actions. (And you maybe could mention that at this stage knowing xb1 and 2 players can guess we know why he is going to vanish but honestly, i dunno if it isn't red coned XB3 or if you included it there, because i still didn't finish it and as such didn't want to spoil myself, if you did I'm sorry and please forget i mentioning it Addition: Funny little story about Xenoblade Xs announcement, back when it was announced it really hit the players sour because they explained that remaining time of the lifehold as an actual mechanic, like Zelda: Majora's mask or Lightning returns Final fantasy 13 which a lot of people didn't seem too pleased. 🤣 (Looking at the scale of XBX I'd say it was rather miscommunicated than removed after feedback but it's still funny) praise: I really enjoyed your video and especially for gears you showed stuff i never knew about it like zones and such, i always knew the story but further no one ever explained really.
the most fucked up part of Xenogears lore is all that shit happened because a bunch of old dudes wanted to return to Lost Jerusalem (Earth for the uninitiated) but in reality they were on Lost Jerusalem the whole time. Pretty much after the events of Xenosaga people literally forgot where Earth was and accidentally returned there after the Unos Mundos system destroyed their ark XD
Before anyone says Xenogears and Xenosaga have different continuities.... they don't. Anyone that has played this series to completion 100% knows they don't XD Tetsuya Takahashi had no choice but to lie through his teethe and convince people they were seperate continuities to avoid getting sued by Square XD. At this point it is pretty clear Square is not interested in protecting their rights to Xenogears atleast not that much... that or they respect that it's Takahashi's baby and hence Takahashi has gotten abit more bold with the series moving forward.
XC3's "peak gameplay" can mostly be ignored. I like the game, I think the class system is really interesting. But eventually I figured out that 98% of the combat is not only fine but more efficient if you just set your main character to auto and the rest of the game is just running around where you need to go with a break for when they force you into manual control for boss fights.
Thank you SO MUCH for giving X a fair chance! I love this game, it’s one of my favourite of all time and I think it’s terribly underrated. I agree that the story leaves somethings to be desired, I’d give anything for a sequel. Lao is a very compelling character whose heart to hearts really put what humanity is doing into perspective (discussing colonialism, exploitation of resources with no regards to the long terms effects and so on…). It’s just too bad that nothing gets explained. We don’t even have breadcrumbs to understand what’s going on. Some characters’ arcs just raise more questions than answers and [spoilers] suggest that there’s more to mims and the people in charge than we thought. I hated the following games. I played around 15 hours of XC2 before dropping it and reselling my copy. I’m sorry but even as a persona fan, my tolerance for anime bs is fairly low and the general noncery and sexism of the art direction just made me uncomfortable. I hear what you say about cynical westerners and agree to a certain extent, but as someone who lives in Japan, it still is *a lot* and I’m not a fan of the normalisation of certain tropes as just being ‘cultural differences’. I’m also not keen on that generic anime style that’s everywhere nowadays. Sure, the models in X looked awkward, but at least they had character. I haven’t played XC3, but at first glance it seems to be in the same vein so it’s gonna be a-perhaps foolish-pass for me. Fingers crossed for XCX2 in the future. This story has so much potential and I miss my Ares every single day
XC3 tones down the anime-isms quite a bit from 2 and gives a much more balanced experience like XC1. Only a few characters have noticeable sex appeal, and they're the ones you'd expect to have it, not literally every female character. The humor was also way pushed back, which is fitting for a generally darker story. The humor comes entirely from the character dialogue, and it doesn't do the over-reacting cartoony expressions that XC2 does. I think you should give it a chance.
Watching this painfully reminds me of the information overload which is Xenogears - pushed me to drop this game altogether in spite of its' fantastic battle system

Collecting spirits in Smash Bros spoiled the plot of Xenoblade 1 for me. Smash Bros is out here spoiling games and Sakurai is still a free man.

Also thank you for understanding XCX and appreciate what it does incredibly well unlike the most of the fandom . i swear, XCX is years ahead from games ive played to this day, and it's 9 yo. and yeah, most of its great mechanics are lore related, reason why they didnt do it again in the next games( at least keep the sprint??)
AND YESSS I liked X plot. narratively it's not really good with terrible pacing, but managed to keep my interest til the end!
one thing that absolutely adore is how GIGANTIC the monsters are, and how tiny we are also the fact you can target specific monster parts and break them (horn, tail, head, appendices etc) to get specific loot really added more flavor to the gameplay.
it's my favorite game of all times and seeing it being talked in a positive light really makes me tears up lol damn you made me want to go for a third playthrougt lmaoo
(also man, i wish people didnt play X the same way they would play the mainline games. they expect rushing thru the story, ignoring exploration and side quest (that give fuck ton lore especially the yielv one + fleshes out the cast better.), then complain it's bad and too hard. i saw people like this)

Just two little things about xenoblade 2, Nia actually being a blade is kinda foreshadowed by the direction of her ears xD (they are inverted to all gormoti) and the Titans don't merge into a landmass but collectively dock at a landmass the architect created as one of his last actions. (And you maybe could mention that at this stage knowing xb1 and 2 players can guess we know why he is going to vanish but honestly, i dunno if it isn't red coned XB3 or if you included it there, because i still didn't finish it and as such didn't want to spoil myself, if you did I'm sorry and please forget i mentioning it

Funny little story about Xenoblade Xs announcement, back when it was announced it really hit the players sour because they explained that remaining time of the lifehold as an actual mechanic, like Zelda: Majora's mask or Lightning returns Final fantasy 13 which a lot of people didn't seem too pleased. 🤣 (Looking at the scale of XBX I'd say it was rather miscommunicated than removed after feedback but it's still funny)

I watched all of this today and i loved it
the most fucked up part of Xenogears lore is all that shit happened because a bunch of old dudes wanted to return to Lost Jerusalem (Earth for the uninitiated) but in reality they were on Lost Jerusalem the whole time. Pretty much after the events of Xenosaga people literally forgot where Earth was and accidentally returned there after the Unos Mundos system destroyed their ark XD
Before anyone says Xenogears and Xenosaga have different continuities.... they don't. Anyone that has played this series to completion 100% knows they don't XD Tetsuya Takahashi had no choice but to lie through his teethe and convince people they were seperate continuities to avoid getting sued by Square XD. At this point it is pretty clear Square is not interested in protecting their rights to Xenogears atleast not that much... that or they respect that it's Takahashi's baby and hence Takahashi has gotten abit more bold with the series moving forward.

XC3's "peak gameplay" can mostly be ignored. I like the game, I think the class system is really interesting. But eventually I figured out that 98% of the combat is not only fine but more efficient if you just set your main character to auto and the rest of the game is just running around where you need to go with a break for when they force you into manual control for boss fights.
That's o ly viable on easy and normal. Doing that on hard will get you destroyed
I hunted down the entire collection after seeing the opening cinematic on CinemaTech on G4 so, so long ago.

Thank you SO MUCH for giving X a fair chance! I love this game, it’s one of my favourite of all time and I think it’s terribly underrated. I agree that the story leaves somethings to be desired, I’d give anything for a sequel. Lao is a very compelling character whose heart to hearts really put what humanity is doing into perspective (discussing colonialism, exploitation of resources with no regards to the long terms effects and so on…). It’s just too bad that nothing gets explained. We don’t even have breadcrumbs to understand what’s going on. Some characters’ arcs just raise more questions than answers and [spoilers] suggest that there’s more to mims and the people in charge than we thought. I hated the following games. I played around 15 hours of XC2 before dropping it and reselling my copy. I’m sorry but even as a persona fan, my tolerance for anime bs is fairly low and the general noncery and sexism of the art direction just made me uncomfortable. I hear what you say about cynical westerners and agree to a certain extent, but as someone who lives in Japan, it still is *a lot* and I’m not a fan of the normalisation of certain tropes as just being ‘cultural differences’.
I’m also not keen on that generic anime style that’s everywhere nowadays. Sure, the models in X looked awkward, but at least they had character.
I haven’t played XC3, but at first glance it seems to be in the same vein so it’s gonna be a-perhaps foolish-pass for me.
Fingers crossed for XCX2 in the future. This story has so much potential and I miss my Ares every single day
XC3 tones down the anime-isms quite a bit from 2 and gives a much more balanced experience like XC1. Only a few characters have noticeable sex appeal, and they're the ones you'd expect to have it, not literally every female character. The humor was also way pushed back, which is fitting for a generally darker story. The humor comes entirely from the character dialogue, and it doesn't do the over-reacting cartoony expressions that XC2 does. I think you should give it a chance.
