    Hey, Josh! I know that paraphrasing is important for speaking section. But what if I copy several phrases and have other aspects of my response good? Can I get a 4 on such kind of response?

    • @TSTPrep
      @TSTPrep  ปีที่แล้ว

      Copying and using transitional phrases such as, "I definitely think, first of all", and "for example," are fine. However, the information you present should be paraphrased you can't simply read it back work for word.

    Hi Josh, I have been teaching English language almost for four years, and I prepared myself for TOEFL IBT in 2018. Now, I want to take TOEFL test in June , I also practiced a lot. I understand all the reading question types, and know the strategies how answer these questions. But, when I take mocking test I just receive 17 scores in the reading. I don't know that what's the reason. If you help me to provide a way to improve my reading skill, it would be really kind of you.

      Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Your comprehension might be fairly high, but when it comes to looking at details and figuring out the difference between statements, it is more of a challenge. This is just a guess, though. You can always meet with one of our teachers for a trial lesson if you want more specific answers for yourself - tstprep.com/toefl-store/toefl-trial-lesson/

If you want to accelerate your learning, you may consider enrolling in private classes with a professional TOEFL tutor - tstprep.com/store/toefl/toefl-private-lessons/. The teacher will help you identify your weaknesses and work with you in class on tweaking specific skills. Hello everyone,
    Hope you all are doing great.
    I have a question!
    Can we cover our ears' canals with our fingers at reading section in order to cancel people's voices from around, so we can concentrate on what we are reading?
    Please, somebody answer this question because if cover my ears like that, I can literally be focused, and it doesn't distract me that much.

    • @TSTPrep
      @TSTPrep  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting question. It depends on the test center and the proctor but I believe that would be fine. You will have to take your hands off your ears though to move your mouse and select the correct answer.

    Is it okay to provide more thoughts about the topic instead of giving detailed examples in the 1 question?
    When I'm nervous, it's almost impossible to remember or come up with any examples 😅

    • @TSTPrep
      @TSTPrep  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are lots of ways to score well in the TOEFL Speaking, as long as you sound comfortable, confident, and natural when you speak (and that you answer the question). We usually recommend that students include a personal example, usually a lie or exaggeration, but if you don't like that idea you can provide reasons for your opinion and elaborate on them.
