Thanks for sharing those PING Putters Andrew that was fascinating. I gamed a B60 for years (but eventually passed it on to one of my sons when I developed the Yips and couldn't take it back straight). It's still in my son's bag and he uses it regularly to take money from his old man.
Still use my stainless steel Anser 2 and my copper N Echo. Got these back in the "70's I believe. I would not give them up for anything. Thanks for the great video.
I play with vintage clubs only. Still hitting my Ping Eye 2s, Ping Pal putter, Titlest 983k driver, and Taylormade Titiaum fairway wood. Oh yeah and the first ping bag with stand.
I do have quite a selection of Ping Putters myself going back to the 60s I just picked a nice cusion yesterday and a 1967 ping anser yesterday I've got about 50 of them and it is fun and got a few lefties as well thanks very much for the vid
@@andrewainsworth497 I have an all original Scottsdale Anser along with all the other Scottsdales. This collector lost value by re-gripping, re-shafting and taking Brasso to a few of those heads.
I recently bought a ping anser putter vintage 67 to commemorate their 50 years. Still pricey but it gave me good putts and I love them. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.
I, too, collect old putters. I have a Wilson 8802, Fat Lady Swings, Zebra, Tear Drop, Bullseye, several other Wilson models, and a few more. My rule is I will not pay more than $25 for one and they have to have some historical importance. I will take any of them out when I play and see how it goes...if I am holing putts the putter stays in the bag. If I start missing putts, it is on to a different one. Merry Christmas Andrew!!
I love the old Pings, my favorite is the Kushion. When I bought it there was on original grip on it. I have changed the grip and now I love it even more. It's a great putter!!!
New subscriber just based on history lesson on Ping putters....love the Anser, Karsten models, and few others...had no idea of all the other Ping models out there, thx for the info! I agree the old putters smoothe faces skid balls on a strike...but can be a learning curve to master them, nonetheless they are great putters. Very fascinated w Ping putter history, looking fwd to your friend loaning u more. Thank u!
I think you’re wrong regarding Tom Watson’s major wins with Ping Putters. No question he won the 1975 British Open with the A-Blade as well as the 1977 Masters. However, he won the 1977 British Open with a Wilson 8802. All other major wins after the 1977 British Open were with the Pal. Also, I think the Ping Pal sets up perfectly for a golfer with a more upright putting stroke who holds the putter a little further away from the body.
I still have my Ping Anser 3 from junior days and I have kept my late father´s Cushin, the latter with the original grip. Only using them on the living room floor - the putters of today are much easier, as you said yourself. A lot of wonderful memories of daddy when I hold his trusted putter [sigh].
Enjoyed that video Andrew ! My first putter a Ping Anser 2 i ever bought i was in 1992 at Hermans Sporting Goods here in the US. (Nearby NJ) for $100 when i first looked into playing golf. Had no other clubs yet ! Still have it ! Has a plumbers neck which i no longer like... about 10 years ago i bought a Ping 1-A off of eBay, his first style... makes that LOUD PING noise !! Condition is below avg, but wanted a piece of Ping history without breaking the bank. Think i paid about $75 for it. Great video. Looking forward to your next segment next week !
Just purchased a Ping Zero 4, it looks a work of art and I intend to play it. I’ll be swapping a Scotty Cameron out - just need the course to open (C-19 - Lockdown)
I really want the ping zero original because it looks like an iron, also the hosel looks very solid, i reckon i could hit some absolute stingers with it.
Im a lefty that just started playing, I was fortunate that my boss's dad was a lefty and I was given a small mess of clubs. Most are just straight up crappy and off-brand, but tucked in was a Ping Pal... Jesus I love this putter! I'm going out to get a newer set of clubs, but really feel no need to even look at the putters because of how good this is, even being 40+ years old
Lovely collection. I am new to golf (playing) but used to love watching it when I was younger. Anyway I just bought a set of Ping eye 2+ irons and woods and a Ping pal G2. I love ‘em, BUT am so disappointed in the putter. It’s a Ping and it doesn’t PING 😢. Could you tell me which putters make the ping noise so I can look see if I can find one.
Great collection! I still have a few of my old Ping Eye 2 woods - shiny black head - big red center! I also have an old Ping Anser but I can't find the same one anywhere! It has a Phoenix 85029 zip code, and the patent number is 4,527,799. is stamped into the cavity above Karsten Mfg. Corp. Made in USA and Phoenix 85029 is on the third line - same line. Not sure what I have? Any thoughts?
@@andrewainsworth497 I would love if you did. I have a nice Ping putter collection and have been a fan for a long long time. We Have a Facebook group called Old School Ping Group where people share pics of collections and ask questions.
Today's putter gurus sure have a deby to Ping Andrew. So many of today's putters seem to be direct descendents of these old timers. Solheim certainly opened a door for the Scott Cameron's of the world. On a lighter note, would my 2003 Zing g2i qualify for vintage status?
Hi Ken, agree with that. The Anser is the most copied putter in the world. Think the Zing needs a few more birthdays before it gets to vintage status!! Regards Andrew
Hi Elaine, which putters are you referring too, Ping have have made many designs using various materials. To the best of my knowledge the vast majority were manganese bronze.
Nice collection...I recently added a Ping Eye2 BeCu putter...been looking for one for over 15 years...to go with my set of Eye 2 BeCu irons....
Good choice!
Thanks for watching.
I love my Ping Sedona putter. It was given to me by my dad after he won it in a tournament.
Simple and beautiful
Seve used the Anser all his life. I have the Anser 1 with the slit on the bottom. From 1976. 46 years old.
Love your tour through your friend's Ping putter stable!
Thank you! 😊
For me anyways, there will only ever be ping putters in my bag. Pal, anser and a a-blade 5bz.

I'm the same if I start missing it's in the shed and out with another.
Cushin not Kushin. my father left me a Ping Cusin circa 1967 which i still use to this day.

I have never handled a PING anser before. I actually have a Honma CB8032, it is a Japanese made putter in collaboration with true temper and PING.
