Being Irish and gay myself (I’m 53) Dame Joan is a national treasure, who despite huge Hollywood successes, has never forgotten her British roots and has always stayed grounded in reality - growing up in my teens in the 1980’s in Rural Ireland, I loved her as the (wonderfully bitchy and catty) Alexis in Dynasty and better still, Alexis had a gay son Steven - as Alexis, she has been an inspiration to gay men and drag queens the world over and she certainly inspired me to come out as gay, giving me the confidence to do so, where I’m generally out as gay to everyone - I’m surprised that she’s not yet a guest judge on Ru Paul’s Drag Race, even though she has taken part in other gay-related things via her many gay friends 🥰🥰🥰
