    I enjoyed this so much. I’ve never heard this sound with the banjo and violin before. It’s the perfect mix of soul and bluegrass! Great job y’all!!

      You must mean soul and 'folk', because there is no bluegrass here.

      I don't mean to offend you or to bring negativity but that's kind of an ignorant statement. It's like saying paint brushing needs to be done a certain way. If it appeals it appeals. Btw props to the fiddler!

    Who are the musicians?

    Banjo and fiddle, the basis for "Oldtime" music. Add guitar (influence from Mexico via Texas) and mandolin (a "fad" before WWI) with the influence of Blues and Ragtime, then there is Bluegrass (influenced by Jazz).

      @@williamtsanders it’s crazy how everything African American is treated as belonging to the world this is not to say people should be excluded from learning and playing but it’s not for the world although it may be used by the world

      @@Ronaldo-rt7hl Exactly. People can say a certain aspect of culture belongs to a particular people, but when it comes to us african americans, it's a free-for-all. This is why we gatekeep. No one can stop trying to take credit or leech off us

      @@williamtsanders Its an african heritage instrument that welcomes all, not a "world" instrument. Culture Vultures are the reason why few people know that the banjo was created by enslaved africans

      @williamtsanders ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jaxthewolf4572 thank you for that clarification. I have played this instrument for 8 years and have come to appreciate that it is a window into the music of west africa, as well as my own Kentucky heritage. The magic of banjo constantly brings me spiritual wisdom and wholeness. Thanks again for pointing out the culture vultures. Its a real thing

    If you had a shekere for the beat and a mandolin or lute for rhythm it would be great with that banjo and violin.

    The banjo was invented by the Chinese over 5000 years ago (see the qinqin) and spread across the world. nobody needs to reclaim it because nobody ever owned it. It is a multicultural instrument that has been influenced by almost every culture on the planet.

      Do you think that because the qinqin has a round head it's the same thing as a banjo? Are you simple? It had two strings most of the time and often wasn't even round, by that logic no one invented any stringed instruments. Except black slaves had ZERO interactions with the Chinese and West Africa had about half a dozen different string instruments before the onset of slavery. Really shows the absolute absence of fundamental music history you have.
      The first depiction of a banjo is literally a painting of a slave in colonial America, with the earliest artifacts all being black American.
      Stop trying to steal the cultural inventions of others. It's sad and P A T H E T I C

      I appreciate that both fiddle and banjo are exploring/reclaiming sounds and rhythms not derived from Appalachian traditions. It may be the array of influences from which that music evolved. Regardless, this music is heartfelt and genuine. I'm subscribed.
