I am amazed at the number of great new slot cars that keep coming out. The hobby must be in pretty good shape to support all the companies producing such wonderful models. I an tell that you are a full size racing fan. I have always said that in order to be a slot car fan you must be a fan of real motorsport. How can you like a Ford Escort slot car if you aren’t a motorsport follower? That to me was the cause of a decline in the popularity of slot cars. When I grew up in the sixties it seemed that every kid was a racing and car nut. So we raced slot cars. Young people today are just not interested. So who is buying all these new slot cars? Seventy five year old guys like me? I love your enthusiasm.
Really impressed that you know the term „youngtimer“! Well, the escorts should be oldtimers, since they‘re over 30 years old and are therefore eligible to get an H at the end of the inscription on the license plate (= oldtimer = less tax). But a lot of Germans would certaines still stick to calling them youngtimers.
There's quite a thriving race series for old fords suitably modified in the UK, whilst it might not be a massive seller it's another cost effective use of the MK1 Escort mould. Good to see Policar having the lane changes. But what chip do they require? We already have two chips (3 if you want to count SCX and it's interesting version). So switching to yet another chip might be a pain for some. Also, shout out to Auto World for making that BRE set. Considering AFX is deadset on producing more American cars (Corvettes, GT40s, Chevelles), it's nice seeing another company provide more options without having to go the route of 3D printing or resin casting.
