@@zdelrod829 Ah yes, because ONE new switch installment of an old game is mediocre, that means ALL of them are terrible and rhythm heaven should never be brought back!
He's so skilled at quickly adapting to visual cues, it worked against him! That's why he struggled so much in Catch of the Day- it's impossibly hard if you're thinking visually, much easier if you close your eyes and think with the rhythm.
Cjya and RT game both have very different skill levels and very different approaches to the game. Cjya wanted to get a superb rank on each minigame but RT game just wanted to pass each minigame. RT game’s playthrough felt more comedic while Cjya stayed determined about getting the superb rank on the minigames. Even though the playthroughs and videos had many differences I still enjoyed both videos.
As someone who plays drums, like a lot, it's always fun to see new people play this game. All I'm saying is that you did a lot better than I was expecting.
Everyone does badly at the monkey watch one due to the visuals. Instead, look at the giant circle on the second hand. That is what is on the beat. So just press the button when it moves to the next dash (with the purple ones being on off beats).
Yay I caught parts of some of these streams; I was hoping for a video! It looks like rhythm heaven fever has harder actual games but the criteria for superbs is more lenient
This game pretty much requires you to play: A. On a CRT, since there is no delay to either audio or video B. With audio plugged directly into headphones, so you get no audio delay C. On an emulator. Capture cards, even the best modern ones, just have too much delay to be feasible, and so do TVs even when they are set to game mode. In fact, that's likely why the 3DS game was probably the last, with unpredictable delays between new TVs the game would be probably only playable on Switch in handheld/desktop mode.
There's an easy solution for that, just add options for video/audio latency that the user can calibrate to their desired accuracy. Literally every other rhythm game has solved that problem by this point
It was really fun watching CJ play a different game than he normally plays, you can tell how much fun he's having. I've come back to this video a few times because its so entertaining.
I was here for a decent portion of this steam, kept watching while I was making dinner. It was mega fun and we all lost our minds when he won. CJ is a beast at this
I have ASD and one of the ways that affects me is fine motor skills. I kinda panic when it comes to precise reactions and freeze up. This kinda game, where you just hit at the right time, I might be able to do well because music is one my Things, but in games like Future Tone, I legit barely even perceive the prompts.
Which one is Future Tone? Are you referring to a minigame from Rhythm Heaven, or some other rhythm game? I am aware RH has some name differences between languages/regions. (Unrelated but I also have ASD btw)
I found out in the Japan version of rhythm heaven "Night walk" was actually longer and had a different character only released in the gba version in japan.
34:31 I actually just found out about that recently myself, because I asked my mother. I remember hearing a song in Spanish that had a part that said “and we’ll dance (to) Bossanova”. All this time I thought it was a singer, so I asked her who was Bossanova, until she told me it’s a genre, not a singer lol
RHYTHM HEAVEEEENNNN!!!! My favorite niche game series!!! I'm so happy to have seen so many people playing it recently! Thanks for giving it a chance my guy
16:35 i’m so used to watching cj absolutely crush it at this game so i never hear the farts. but now watching this back i’m crying from laughing so hard
It's so funny seeing the difference in people playing this. I wasn't very good at this game, but all the games I found super easy you struggled with a lot :0 Like cheer readers, tap troupe, microrow, shrimp shuffle, ringside etc (except monkey watch. that game is hell) like all the games with folowing audio cues I get really easily but i have trouble with keepign up a consistent rhythm, but you seem the opposite
Watching ppl struggle with Monkey Watch always surprises me. Its a bit like Lockstep where you just keep the same rhythm with a few changes. On the other hand, why do some people find Love Rap easy? Same with Figure Fighter. I spent ages getting superb on those.
17:41 I WILL DEFEND FAN CLUB WITH MY LIFE (/melodrama), the entire point of that one is that it's a parody. I cannot think of a serious love song (written by someone older than 15) whose refrain is "I suppose". The Dazzles, which is similar but doesn't really have the excuse of being a parody (though most of RH has a degree of it), suffers moreso from its melody working a lot better with the original Japanese lyrics. And- someone already mentioned Love Rap, that one's translation was just technically poorly executed. I agree that the remix songs went above and beyond, though
During the monkey watch section he had to do what musicians do and keep calm after mistakes and learn how to time off beats. Honestly impressive to watch
Is there an uncut version? The fact I can't hear the song in its full at least once is really bugging me. If anyone knows if there's a full that would be very nice :)
Me too, I love the creative ways they give the four(/five in GBA) games the same theme and context no matter how different they are, even if it's really surreal like this entry's Remix 6 Also the medley remixes in each game really do feel like montages, especially
100%ting isn't getting a superb in every level. It's getting a Perfect in every level. Your attempt/run counts as "I superbed Rhythm Heaven in one sitting"
For the DS one? Oh absolutely. Things like Built to Scale (DS) and Love Lab are MUCH easier with a stylus I wanted to play the DS one on my pc, got stuck on built to scale for like 15 minutes. Got an actual Rhythm Heaven cartridge, beat it first try
Hey cj, i have a question : how do you actually record this stuff? Like i dont understand and would like to know because screen recording apps dont exist on some devices
I use a capture card, specifically the Elgato HD60X which plugs into my computer, and has HDMI running through it from the switch to capture that video
They better make a Rhythm Heaven for Switch. It’s about time.
Tsunku has expressed in interviews he wants to but he lost his voice :/
Well they have one but it’s old

rhythm heaven is an addictive substance. if you pick up any of the games once you will love the series forever and wish there was a game on switch
It literally is. You either are unaware entirely, or you adore the series like no other. There's no in between (I fall under the latter :) )
I'll try it out at some point, but I heavily doubt I'll be impressed.
