- On the TV show Euphoria, Jules Vaughn explains to her therapist why she thinks she falls in love so easily: “Because half of every relationship is in my head.” The latest single from Linnea’s Garden goes out to anyone who’s experienced something similar.
“Cut & Paste” begins with a Frusciante-inspired guitar riff on the high strings. Low vocals center a stripped-down landscape of bass and drums before distorted power chords kick in for the disco, call-and-response hook. This song draws heavy inspiration from late ‘70s new wave as well as modern dance-punk artists like LCD Soundsystem.
The music video for “Cut & Paste” is singer/songwriter Linnea Herzog’s 7th DIY effort since her band’s inception in 2020. “I now think of the video as a logical extension of the songwriting process,” Herzog explains. She ultimately landed on a “stop-motion” lyric video built from 185 photos of individually cut-out words and letters. “What I’ve learned is that sometimes the art is in the process of figuring out what the art is.”
“Cut & Paste” is the second single off Linnea’s Garden’s debut full-length album Fashion Show, which will be released April 1, 2022 on Red on Red Records. Their Fashion Show tour kicks off Saturday, April 2 at O’Brien’s Pub with an album release party featuring performances by Carissa Johnson, Stars Like Ours, and Pageant Girls.

Lyrics:
Scan the painted page
Feeling so teenage
Cut & paste my brain
The summer’s hotter
I thought about your heart
Guess I was the worst
But who can escape first?
The fall feels farther
You get inside, you get inside, you get inside my head
You get inside, you get inside my head, inside of my head
Demolition day
So much for giving thanks
Stand up on the train
The winter’s harder
Feeling the deluge
Digital refuge
Breathing in your fugue
The spring gets louder
You get inside, you get inside, you get inside my head
You get inside, you get inside my head
And I guess what I wanted to say
I’m sorry I got carried away
You get inside, you get inside, you get inside my head
You get inside, you get inside my head, inside of my head
You get inside, you get inside, you get inside my head
You get inside, you get inside my head, inside of my head
And I guess what I wanted to say...
