I loved the notion back then as a 16yr old that when I was discovering everything for the first time...devouring all the forbidden literature...Art...to know that doyens of the intellectual hierarchies wrote about whilst partaking in their consumption psychoactive biochemicals was wondrous and stirred memories of past lives....And this album was with me all the time thinking I alone knew it as no-one really discussed it as say Crocodiles HUH etc. What makes it more precious is Pete chose to close the gate and go another tangent leaving Nah Poo and the Art of BLUFF an isolated gem. A rare shining 33rpm on an island of mystery surrounded by a moat of mercury. You can't put your arms around a memory. ❤
One of the reasons for Nah=Poo the Art of Bluff being the incendiary album of 1981 (not to be mistaken with ''best'', title i think, belongs to''Juju'' by the Banshees, but that's highly debatable). More on fire than say, ''Wilder'' or ''Heaven up here'', by The Teardrop Explodes and Echo and the Bunnymen, respectively, Wah's debut made you count the minutes for the best nightly NationaL FM indie radioshows to start, and often did some start with 7m to 00.00 . Magic.
