For the jobs i would say signup on linkedin or indeed and you can ask for part time job from uni as well they might help you with that. Otherwise make a CV and print many copies of it in advance as here it cost too much to get printouts and than when you come here start approaching the places where you wanna do jobs give them your CV i think that is the best way to get jobs faster or again you can ask your classmates who have already got the job.
