- In this lecture from our 2009 Deep in History conference, Dr. Scott Hahn examines the seven petitions of the Lord's Prayer, and takes a look at why this prayer is placed in the liturgy of the Mass after the consecration, and before the distribution of Holy Communion.
Dr. Hahn looks at the context in which Jesus teaches the prayer during the Sermon on the Mount, the significance of referring to God as "Father," and more.
He argues that the 'Our Father' is a prayer that we pray much, but ponder little; and argues that a better understanding of these words, which come directly from the lips of Jesus, can lead us to a deeper appreciation for our relationship with God.

No surprise they were all, Communists, Jews and Masons. The diabolical result is history yet the Church fathers and pre-Vat II magesterium along with the true faith live on.

You're beguiled if you haven't realized this or you are not educated in Catholicism, dogma and scripture.
An elaboration on the Lord's prayer (an excellent elaboration btw) does not change this fact, it only masks it.
The Vatican II Sect, is not Catholicism, it is the End Times Counter-church. The wheat are truly being separated from the tares. The Catholic remnant are holding the faith and are validated by scripture, dogma and the magisterium (pre-Vat II).
We have prayed our father many times but too tittle have we pondered about it. I am moved shamefully for the many times I just recited it for the respect and mere trust in He who gave it to us. Thanks God even in ignorance of your son, you always answered. In many circumstances I did not witness but buffled. " I have nothing I can do except to pray for them". Now I understand I feel like crying for the many instances i dspised such prayer. I am shaken for little was I aware that it is about uniting my will with his, my weakness with His sthrengh and power, my time with eternity. My heart will ever be awake whenever my soul recites the Lord's prayer. God you are our father I am your son. Thy name, that will , thy Kingdom , Give us , lead us not. What awesome beauty of the depths in those seven petitions.

First they don't want anyone know about Ukraine, me and Vatican. If they win China , they will attack Russia after Russia is lost. What a beautiful talk. At times we just recite The Our Father, going through the motions when we should be savoring, pondering on, and lifting up every single word in the prayer. Praise the Lord for Dr. Hahn and his insights!
Dr. Scott Hahn - thank you - so deep and yet so clear - you have been blessed with a fine brain and understanding, but even more, you have been blessed with goodness, a deep love of the Lord, and probably an insatiable curiosity. What a beautiful explanation of “Give us this day our day bread.” Not just food for our bodies but also the Eucharist to feed our souls. God gives us our daily super substantial (Epiousios) bread that we receive every day at mass.

Tolstoy wrote a book on this pray that I read many many years gone by but have not been able to find again. Amazingly i got it from the public library in Staten Island, NY.

A reminder that we are not home yet, we are separated by sin

A reminder that the order of creation has been setup by the king of the universe. We are His royal subjects

Mass is the incarnation of Heaven on earth

God gives us what we need, not what we want. Jesus is the bread of life in the Holy Eucharist

God shows us our weaknesses to show us where we are lacking, in a way that we can endure and escape through the Eucharist

@Sterling Crowne Your logic is absurd and an overreaction to what was said in the talk. Jesus taught his disciples who were Jews. Jesus was a Jew who was also the Son of God and was the Jewish Messiah to lead the Jews into the New Covenant with 'Our Father, (of all mankind) who is in heaven'. As God we are called to emulate his life and pray in the way he taught us to pray with the Our Father. He *never* said to stop praying it, so why should we?
