    I appreciate your test on those rings n things. I think that if anything it shows why a lot of gold remains in the ground. I remember seeing a gold test with the Etrac and it failed to see it even on the surface on the soil. Of course, in the long run I should imagine that a lot depends on what settings are used with regard to almost any type of MD. Cheers mate. GL & HH :D

    If they made these detectors too sensitive,it would lack in a lot of other areas.You go in saltwater,you are already trying to overcome a lot of things that interfere with a detector.This was mainly to show that even though it runs on multiple frequencies,it still has its limits.Saw someone post a comment elsewhere saying it finds real small gold.I've never seen it done.Still arguably the best water machine with discrim.A dual field is deeper.But you got to dig iron.HH and GL!

    Hey gg nice educational vid. You suggested to me on my first water detecting video this year to backmount my excal II. I've considered this or hip mounting it. What system are you using? I was skeptical about backmounting because it would be difficult to change settings and turn pinpoint on and off but I see yours slides around so this is no problem. Thanks for any help you can give. HH

    It would be interesting to have seen how your other machine did on the rings. (White's) I know you don't like Garrett but I am wondering how the Ace lines would have done. Also what affect does the salt have on the detecting of the rings if any? Interesting video. HH

    Why do you have the sensitivity on such low setting? Air tests are air tests anyway...

    Dang Guru...you just deflated all of my expectations for Excal...lol. I'd still buy one though if I lived near more active bodies of water. Great video.

    great video :) Harry aka 805digger was doing some air test with his ace350 yesterday it wouldn't read the gold chains either my xlt gave a signal but it was broken and i wouldn't have dug it guess we just have to dig it all if we want the gold wish there was a way to get them to read small gold chains

    Nice Demo, what a bummer about the gold chain....it doesn't act in weight (as a whole) but rather by the largest conductive element (a single link, which is too small).
    Yeah, so far I am not operating in high discrimination modes. What is nice is Aluminum Cans put out real high pitch squeal (hopefully the good stuff doesn't do that).
    Mahalo for demo and HH!

    Great test, I have conducted tests out in the field. Some machines just don't like gold.

    Fred it will freak you out.But you can even have a full jar of small gold nuggets and most detectors won't see it.They say if you have clean nuggets it might barely give a signal.The detectors won't recognize it as one piece.You get lucky when it picks up the clasp ends.People think their detector is broke when they do air tests.You ought to see how small etrac can go.May be better or worse than excal.Prospecting detectors cost $

    Yeah,i'm watching that one.Follow the forums for a bit and see what they say before you buy.I was watching Minelabs countdown and was hoping they had something other than a pinpointer coming out.Be fun to follow this new ones performance.May get me one if it performs as it should!

    Vidslayer,check out my other vid. "Extreme mods to the minelab excalibur2"
    It's the best mods i've ever done! Added a lightweight handle since this vid.I just reach my left hand behind my back to adjust.Once your mind learns the knobs it's easier than mounted on the shaft.I adjust mine while i am swinging!

  • @garbageguru1
    @garbageguru1  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    No. Have to be a big nugget to pick it up.You can take a jar and fill it with nuggets and this detector won't see it.It tries to see individual nuggets.Most detectors miss small gold.

    You get on a beach,even the same beach changes detector function by the hour.One day my DFX works like a dream.Next time it needs to be set up different.Gonna show the DFX on the same stuff,and a couple modes.People next door like making noise.Film it when i get the chance.I'll post the DFX probably next vid.You can tune it to find smaller gold.But you get on a beach and it gets touchy set that sensitive

    My excal 2 has no issues with cracked gold rings and chains. Your settings must be out of whack. I even find the smallest gold stud earings.

    I think you need to study the manual and get your settings right, mine picks up the smallest gold if its set right

    Does it miss the chain in pinpoint/all metal also?

    Some guys disk 1 notch.You disk too much,you best be hunting quarters.LOL! That stainless sounds different buried.Air test not as good as in the ground.Planning to build test garden with hauled in beach sand.Have to keep the sand changed regular though.Lucky i live right by the ocean.Aluminum cans definitely let you know what they are.Blow your ears off!
    Mahalo and good luck out there! Hope your rebreather is coming along nicely!

    I own an excal II.......found a 14K gold ring that weighs about 1 gram this summer. Also found a 14K pendant that weighed less. Don't base your decision to buy or not to buy a detector based on air tests.

    Someone who only owns an excal.And only promotes excal tells people they find small gold,and you can even use one in a park.If i had to use an excal to hunt a park,i'd quit detecting before i'd rent a backhoe and a sod cutter to remove all the grass!.Luckily some people use more than one machine,or we'd all be in trouble with salesmen! LOL! Ace 250 does find smaller gold than an excal.Just on a beach,you got more mineralization it can't deal with once you pass the dry sand.

    how does a gold ring "crack"...hmm...I find this test suspect

    • @eccentricsmithy2746
      @eccentricsmithy2746 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      rk Richard Koss i find cracked gold rings all the time. Sometimes temperature will crack a ring, like warm during the day and then go below freezing at night, plus going through the temperature change of the seasons for years. The ring expands and contracts faster then it can stretch and cracks.

    maybe do the test wrong!? just see this video "excalibur and gold chain sensitivity" maybe you set seneitivity very weak?
