I couldn’t agree more regarding the in-house! It’s way more relevant to have a quality movement and transparency! Doesn’t really matter who makes it at the end
Great video Bill. What a fantastic array of great watches, featured both in the video and shown to us from your collection. I love them all, but I keep returning the quirky (not so little) Chaumet Dandy Arty. It's still my favorite! Best regards, Brian
I don't blame you Bryan. Hi Bill. Your snippets of knowledge never cease to amaze me. From ladies finery, perfume, to excellent horology, and one of the most prestigious British gunmakers to boot. Chanel certainly has a surprising portfolio.
Thanks Tuna. Remember the FP Journe CS with the dial made from H&H gun barrels? Maybe the relationship between FPJ and Chanel went back further than we thought! Take care, Bill
Great video as usual Bill, definitely a lot of cool watch options. Research is the best weapon a collector has :D Happy New Year Bill, hope you had a great start to the year!
Small point of clarification regarding the movement inside the Fabrique de Temps--it does use a ETAchron regulator, which is frankly disappointing. Great video, Bill!
Hi Bill, what a fantastic video, as usual! Quick question on the Chanel H4799: what is the lug width and do you think it's worth buying an original strap or rather go with an OEM and if OEM do you have a recommendation? Thank you and kind regards!
Hey B-Naut! I Googled "straps for Hermes H08" and there are tons of 3rd party strap makers. If you feel your bank account if overflowing and you need to spend more money than is reasonable (even to a watch collector) I can suggest Jean-Rousseau straps. Beautiful straps for any watch. Take care, Bill (a gorgeous Orange shiny gator from J-R would be nice...)
Hi Bill, I'm not looking for a strap for the Hermes H08, but for the Chanel Monsieur H4799. Do you know the measure at the buckle? The lug width is 22mm, but I could not find the buckle width. That would be amazing if you could measure it and let me know if you would also go for a 3rd party rather than from Chanel.
Bill- Always great content and presentation. Apologies for this off-topic Question: I would like your opinion on an updated movement from an independent watchmaker, and how much it is improved in your opinion. How best to contact you for details of my question?
Thanks, Bill- here goes: I bought a lovely Czapek Quai des Bergues No.25 Ter about 2 years ago. That's the stainless case version with white enamel dial, about 42mm dia. I love this watch, as it really scratches my itch for a classic timepiece, reaching back to the pocket watch era, while offering modern manufacturing benefits. About 9 months after I bought it, Czapek revised the movement with some improvements such as free-sprung balance wheel and larger mi-glace rubies. Aesthetically, parts of the movement have been skeletonized and plates opened a bit for a more impressive visual appeal. I certainly like the updated revisions, but I wanted your opinion as to how important they are. Czapek will install a new movement completely for USD 5,600, which seems a bit too dear. Could you take a look at the original SXH1 movement and compare it to the updated movement and let me know your thoughts. I'm sorry I don't have the tech savvy to send you photos of each movement. But they are not hard to find with a quick search. Thanks for sharing any thoughts or opinions. Ren Tilden/ Winter Park, FL

@@911euro5 I gotta tell you, I do like the looks of the new movement, but for what they want to update what amount to a new look; I'd save my 5k for another watch altogether. The Czapek Quai des Bergues is a nice watch, and the update is mostly unseen and while nice, I just don't see it as 5k nice. Let me know what you decide.

The only reason to hide the base of a movement ... is because you have something to hide, Ceasar. Take care, Bill
