Hitchhiking is pretty risky in the first place.
A few months ago when I went to trade school. I had to hitchhike about a mile home almost everyday as the bus didn't go all the way. A man in a Chevy truck picked me up as I stuck out my thumb. His comment was "can I trust you that your not gonna kill me are you?" Then he said ok jump in the bed!"

True story, my friend is a good (yet small) guy who once gave a ride to some dude who ended up either being mentally disturbed and/or intoxicated on something strong, as he proceeded to demand money from my buddy (who honestly didn't have it) and then stabbed him with a pen that he found in his car (I mean, really?). What would have happened had it been a pocket knife (which it very easily could have been) that he found in his car..? Don't pick anybody up from the side of the road... especially a young, able-bodied black guy.. he might be "on da street" for a reason..

The one time I picked up a hitch hiker. He was so happy, opening my passenger door. Told the lucky fella to hop in the back of the truck.
"Me, my best friend, my boyfriend, and his friend were on the way to a friend's house." Hell of a way to start a horror story lol. My best friend, her friend's friend, her brother's uncle's friend, some old friend, and a friend of his were all on our to my aunt's cousin's son's friend's roomate's friend's house lmao hahaha.

I find true crime too boring and predictable. That's why I stopped watching Mr. nightmare and all the others like him. Just my opinion, though.
I like videos on weird creatures because I take comfort in knowing that they aren't real. Humans scary af because serial killers and people-traffickers *are* real.

There's only 1 time I gave a hitcher a ride. Something told me to. It was 1983. I'm female. The hitcher was male. I was 17 and just graduated high school. He was going to the local community college to register as I was. I told him I'd wait and give him a ride back. I found out he was homeless, aged out of the foster care system. I had a job interview later that day. I had him read it. He said I lucked out as the people pretty much had hired me over the phone. It was a live in job if needed. I took him home because no one was there at the time. Washed his clothes while he took shower, shaved and cleaned up. I called the people and told them to interview this guy, if he didn't work out they had my number and to call me. They didn't want to but agreed. I dropped him off. And thought nothing about this for years other than never telling my mom. About 20 years later same voice said pick up this guy by the broken down car. It was the same guy. He recognized me. He thanked me. The job worked out and the people grew to love him. They put him through R.N. school. They had no one and left him everything. They also set up a scholarship fund for other homeless people. He was so happy to be able to tell me thank you. He opened his home (theirs) to other kids who aged out of foster care. I took him to the auto parts store and took him back to his car. I've never felt the need to pick up any other person and haven't. But if that wasn't a direction from a higher power telling me to pick up that guy both times I don't know what it was. But I know I was happy to have helped him out. I know how badly it could've gone. But he's the only 1. I know if I'm told to pick up another hitcher, it'll be him and I'll be fine.

30 years ago someone my mom knew was hitchhiking in rural nj, she was picked up by a serial killer I forget the name of, she was murdered and was dumped in a deer carcass holder thing. And I swear that this is 100% real
I dream of hitchhiking one day. Go on an adventure or get killed. That's a win/win combo.
