Great review! I’m in Australia & believe it or not I pick mine up tomorrow morning Oz time! I can’t bloody wait!!! After your review I’m even more enthused if that’s possible!🤤🥰🤣 Cheers from Down Under🇦🇺👍🏻😎
@@CaliMotoTV Thanks so much mate! I got it at 10am this morning here & got a short 60km/35 mile on her before meeting my riding buddies for our monthly lunch. First here since COVID restrictions finished here in my state of Victoria!🙏🏻 So I had 11 mates ogling & drooling over it before I headed home. We’re almost in summer here so it was a warm 35C/95F. Otherwise it was cruise time! I have to say I had the biggest smile!😁😎👍🏼 By the way they are bloody AWESOME as you already know. My first cruiser & I’m a tad happy!!!🤤🥰🤣
Fuel tank should have been enlarged, making the profile a little taller. I think the tank looks too small as it is now viewing the side profile. Great looking bike overall. I love it.
If my R3 Rocket was further delayed and this was out - I'd have bought it straight away! Trouble is that I am now spoilt with the power of the Rocket. The R18 would be good to take it easy......
TH-cam flooded with "independent" bike reviews of this machine. BMW can invest in promotion all they want, this bike will be their flop take 2. For starters, instead of giving us really beautiful concept bike, they came up with this hideous, heavy, limited functionality average and badly overpriced something. Nobody talks about that people even with small feet have issues with using the back breaks and clutch levers, that people taller that 175cm struggle with knee position and that terrible vibration which you all call "must have, old school" will piss you off eventually. Add other funny bits like absence of fuel indicator at this price and the only question is, who is responsible for this fail? When I asked all of it on their FB ad, they blocked me, I can't see that discussion anymore, I only get notifications about people liking it. How sensitive must it be for bmw to block criticism from an average Joe?! 😅 And man, you are a good man and blogger and I can see you need to give people a good review, but when you say, breaks are not that great, "its not that bad", etc. At the 20+k price mark, It sounds hilarious. Good review of the failure bike.
@@CaliMotoTV didn't mean offending or insulting anyone. Glad you deliver impartial and unbiased reviews. I don't say the review is "wrong" I say even in your review you mention certain things which could be better? Other reviewers do have critical points too. And it's 1 thing to really enjoy a bike someone gave you and totally another to fork out 20K for a machine with serious design flaws. I heard news that they will be coming with engine bars so riders could stretch forward their legs? How funny is that, pay 20K pounds and then add bars to stretch your legs! And it's a cruiser, on a cruiser, one need to be able to sit comfortably, so what exactly from what I said above is not true? This engine despite being a piece of art on its own, doesn't fit well this bike, buy it for 20K and then if you drop it, how much will be to fix the BMW new engine? And how will you protect it? it's already protruding badly. So, i really liked your review, it's a like and subscribe from me, but this machine with it's flaws, in this economy is just another flop, a very expensive weekend pleasure ride and to do it, you could have a British, Japanese or an American cruiser for half of that price. What I don't like as a rider and viewer that anywhere you go, you get this massive brainwashing promoting compain and it's obvious BMW uses all it has to convince us all it's piece of art, where in fact it's not.
It’s not for everyone just as a sport bike may not be for everyone. I rode it and fell in love with it. Wether this bike is a success or not there will be many who will purchase and enjoy the R18 just the way it is.
Very nice video, you called the bike massive but your 6’2” dwarfed it! I’m not a cruiser fan, being the owner of an RnineT Racer but I’ve got to say that I really like the look of this bike, the chrome, black paint with white pin stripes, the big pots and the lack of plastic. The triangle rigid rear end look great, maybe I missed it but I didn’t think you mentioned how easy it is or not to access the hidden rear shock? The first BMW boxer was the R32 of 1923 but I think BMW said that the style of the R18 was based on the 1936 R5 which was BMW’s first bike with a foot gear change, check out some R5 photos on Google and you’ll see the resemblance. Just over 2,500 R5’s were made before it was replaced a couple of years later by the R51 with rear suspension. 🇬🇧🏍
It’s probably Euro5. As of 01.01.2021 every bike sold in Europe must be Euro5. Euro4 models must become Euro5 if still produced in 2021 or die... This means that the Streetfighter, currently Euro4, will become Euro5. The only Euro4 bikes that will be sold next year are on 2020 inventory.
A beautiful bike… however, I didn’t buy one… no fuel gauge (range anxiety not my thing) and uncomfortable having boots so close to the heads. Handling ok but not as good as many other cruisers.
Beautiful bike but unrideable due to the lean angle and comfort and ergonomics. I will go out on a limb and bet that the original 80 year old R5 would handle better and be more comfortable long-distance and local riding. Great concept but they missed the mark because of rideability and the price tag for something that's not Rider friendly.
Well, considering the fact that the R5 had a rigid rear end, that limb you just went out on would break, and you’d fall and make a fool of yourself - just like you have here. And that’s not even considering the rest of the technological advances that 85 years brings.
@@CaliMotoTV ok and im like this bike ., this dont change nothing ., bmw claim under 4 to 60 mph and i dont think so it could do this with normal man weight on road tire on normal tarmac i try found somebody who check this be some draggy racelogic qstarz for now without response gretings .
If I wrote the word by word, I would wrize the same, ... ie: I agree complettelly! I' ve own BMW and know what you ment. If you want to spend more money and get less, go for Harley!
Having someone young that rides sport bikes reviewing a Cruiser is just plain sad.... BMW is just desperate for influencers to review this bike.... sad when the influencer comes from Sport bikes and doesn't 'know" how to drive the torque on a low horsepower large displacement engine designed to make torque, and lots of it, so that you short shift the bike.
in person it looks so much better than on pictures or videos!
They sure do!
I just bought a 24 Roctane. I went in for a 23 Hayabusa, but the R18 charmed me. Obviously. The R18 series are magical motorcycles. I love mine.
I had an 1800CC Boxer in my old VW. Now they've gone and took the motor out of a super beetle and stuck it in a '40s motorcycle frame. I love it.
Damn, I wish to see it.
Picked mine up 2 days ago. Cheers from Alaska
Congratulations 👏
Bought mine from Zach and picked it up last week ... so much fun. Great review.
If there was ever a bike made to be perfect match for a distinguished gentleman, it's this.
Mechanical art on two wheels, beautiful world class bike!

I love my FE. Had 6 HD’s before this but this bike is awesome! Looks, comfort, power, torque and handling superior in my opinion.
I'm 6'3 I'm assuming the bike wouldn't fit me?
@@mariuss.6607 It would fit you and you would fit it.
A truly beautiful and magnificent piece of machinery 😎
Indeed.
So you for a dealership and you’re advocating markups on motorcycles?
The concept bike was so beautiful.
Not very convinced about the street legal version...
Will have to go to the dealership to see it in reality.
Min 3:45 you are right about the Boxer engines bite, I'm going to dowsize my collection, I will sell a Diavel and a Harley to keep my 3 Boxer Beemers.
I love this beauty

No.
116ft-lbs = 158Nm
And 158Nm is peak @ 3000rpm.
Minimum 150Nm from ~2000-4000
