It was an unbelievable Greek generation that opened the path to greater consistency of Greek basketball in the 90s and to this day.
@@bogdanbackup Very true. Only Italy was strong enough and still couldn't compete against them consistently. Those two medals in 1987 and 1989 were out of the blue. Of course timing was essential. A small group of talented players, the homecourt advantage in 1987 that gave us the extra push and of course Galis, the leader that is always necessary to become a champion. After that basketball became the national sport of Greece. Many great coaches and players came in the 90's as a result of the huge amount of money spent in basketball, transformning Greek championship to the hardest and with the strongest competition championship in the 90's even more than Italian or Spanish. I remember Panionios who was a mid level team had as coach Ivcovic and players like Christodoulou, Turner and some other good players. Iraklis had Zdovc and Berry (!!!) and those teams were nowhere near the top. Of course as time passed talented Greek players emerged from that process and a lot of success came but here in Greece all of us know that the beginning of everything goes back in 1987.

We were angry at Divac. He was maybe not to young then for national team, but not for the major plays, but for the bench mostly. Such beginner mistake from Divac.

Ne mogu da zamislim da neko danas stavi 18-godišnjaka na teren u takvim trenucima. Doduše, tu je Dončić, ali su u Realu imali muda da ga gurnu u vatru na vreme. Da je ostao ovde da igra ABA ligu, dobijao bi šansu na kašičicu, i to protiv Krke, FMP-a, Mornara...
En aquella época odiaba profundamente a los Petrovic y por ello me llevé una alegría enorme al ver la remontada de la URSS. Tan grande era el odio que le tenía a Petrovic,(en aquella época era del Madrid de basket), que me hice de la Penya.

Nikad neću prežaliti što cela Yu ekipa nije imala prilike da odigra protiv Amera '92. Duda Ivković je npr i dan-danas uveren da bi smo ih dobili. U svakom slučaju, skinuli bi ih mnogo pre 2002, po mom mišljenju već '96, tada se SRJ dobro držala dok Divac nije dobio 5. faul, a mogu misliti šta bi tek bilo da su tu bili i Kukoč, Rađa, Komazec... Dražen bi verovatno bio živ, jer ne bi bilo potrebe da ide za Nemačku i igra kvalifikacije '93... 😢

We were angry at Divac. He was maybe not to young then for national team, but not for the major plays, but for the bench mostly. Such beginner mistake from Divac.

Iako smo ovu tekmu izgubili, upravo je ovde stvarana najbolja bela reprezentacija u istoriji. Kreša je zaista bio vizionar. Ne mogu da zamislim da neko danas stavi 18-godišnjaka na teren u takvim trenucima. Doduše, tu je Dončić, ali su u Realu imali muda da ga gurnu u vatru na vreme. Da je ostao ovde da igra ABA ligu, dobijao bi šansu na kašičicu, i to protiv Krke, FMP-a, Mornara...
Al su nas tu utakmicu sudije izmasakrirali.

Yo lo sigo teniendo en 2021, y me sigue excitando este resumen. Flipante gritar Rusia en Madrid de 1986, incluso lanzamiento de objetos por la actuación arbitral, influida por el puto Boris Stankovic, que quería beneficiar a Yugoslavia. Animando a la URSS con banderas de España. Sabonis salió dando abrazos y lanzando besos al público. Brutal.

Nikad neću prežaliti što cela Yu ekipa nije imala prilike da odigra protiv Amera '92. Duda Ivković je npr i dan-danas uveren da bi smo ih dobili. U svakom slučaju, skinuli bi ih mnogo pre 2002, po mom mišljenju već '96, tada se SRJ dobro držala dok Divac nije dobio 5. faul, a mogu misliti šta bi tek bilo da su tu bili i Kukoč, Rađa, Komazec... Dražen bi verovatno bio živ, jer ne bi bilo potrebe da ide za Nemačku i igra kvalifikacije '93... 😢
@@markomarkovic5729 Pa Hrvatska je pocela gubiti zbog nedostatka snage, nismo imali dovoljno dugu klupu pa cijelu utakmicu. Zato je realno da bi bilo napetije jer u NBA se u to vrijeme nije igrala zonska obrana, a u Europi je.
