- The “new age” Double Eagle is taking over Spread defenses and “squeezing” out the Zone. In this episode of Quick Hits, MQ explains how the Tite Front can be a great alternative to stopping the Spread. It makes the offense work for every yard and can be a great counter to Spread zone and gap plays.

Great stuff! The key to the 1st clip is why the 4i is better vs zone schemes than the 3 tech. The 4i strikes the OT which keeps him from climbing and also doesn't allow the G to push and overtake. This creates free runs from the Safety and ILB. When the OL try to come off, the 4i makes the play. Also, OKST thinks that by running SS OZ, they are tricking the defense, but the alignment of the back just brings the N to the play. His default gap is the A-gap to the back.

How do you defend against the Buck sweep?
Buck is a "beater" for the Tite. Need to get down hill with the LB who is in charge of the C-gap. He has to try & slam that door shut, forcing the play to cut-up early. Appreciate it!
Great breakdown, Coach. From that 3 safety Tampa 2 look with Tite front, would it be better to assign that 3rd safety in the middle to the QB or Dive against the zone read on Day 1?
The easiest thing to do is make him the #3 player. That allows the overhang to sit & force the give.
Coach, do you like the Tite front against QB draw from empty sets with no 3-man surface?
Like a 505 vs pty to set edges, though the O can always fold a G. Still, out of a 3-4, one of the LBs can spy.
Coach im wanting to run this with 5 linebackers and cover 3 behind it. in trips do we line up headup with the 2 inside receivers or apex?
I'd super-rotate the secondary so your box never changes. If you are running Cover 3, that should be simple - Spin weak vs 2x2 & strong vs 3x1. Safety goes down outside #2.

Of course. In that case you are basically playing Bear w/ a flexed overhang to the 2-WR side.

Why would you flip M and W alignments vs Trips?
Some people do that to always keep Mike in the box & the Will to a cover down.
