this is exaclty how I shoot my hinge/back tension releases! shooting through relaxation is a very easy way to force your mind into relaxing when you are in a situation that could cause target panic!

That's such a great idea ! Would love to see this come to market and be able to try it. Seems like this would be very easy to get used to as there are not as many variables like with a thumb release and the barrel settings
For those of us that shot with fingers for years, this should be a much more natural feeling hand release for us. Definitely more so that pulling with the index fingers which feels counter intuitive for someone that is used to relaxing their fingers for the shot.
Very cool concept, I love the innovation. Looking forward to seeing the design progression and finished product.

Spott Hogg used to have a release called the Cascade 8, and 10. It had a thumb button you pushed to activate the sear, and when you relaxed your thumb after activation it would release. I used it for years until Spott Hogg discontinued its production. Very interested in this release. It may be difficult to let down if needed with the index finger being the activation point without it firing

I would give it a shot. Most definitely. I would like to see a wrist strap come in that’s sleek and thin body, to fit between your index and ring finger, and basically has an index finger resting/pulling point for drawing back, and then uses my longer deeper middle finger groove to squeeze through similarly to how you would with a hinge to fire. Essentially the same concept as with this release here but slim and on a wrist strap like my tru ball. I’m a thumb button guy but certain things have driven me to a high end wrist strap. I want one I can hang my index finger onto and fire with the middle finger’s deepest crease. Essentially creating a handheld thumb button feel on a wrist strap. Most that are like that out there now are clunky and or don’t work quite that way.
Man i would love a release like this, im decent with a thumb button but i get that target panick "jerk" from time to time.

Seems like a great design I would not be able to use it since my index finger on my release hand wouldn’t be able to hold the pressure due to an old injury
For target shooting this may be useful,, but I can see how relaxing the index finger, which is by itself on the side of the string contact, with the other fingers on the other side, can cause the release to move reducing consistant point of release.
I also see a major problem when you're hunting with this and you're at full draw waiting for 2 minutes for that deer to give you a shot. That index finger is gonna be prone to relax first
Several tweaks can turn it into a hinge release with a fixed head.

You can do the same thing with a hinge. And what about when you bump the back wall too hard and you get a little creep, would it go off?

it looks like when you are letting off, you're pointing out your shot. I would be interested to know how it feels at the release does it catch you off guard and make you pull to the left or right.

Looks like a good concept. Except: My one concern would be if you have to let back down. That is the main reason i wont shoot a hinge. Dont trust in a hunting situation. Afraid if i had to let down i would misfire. Any hand movement and arrow gone.
I don’t intend this as criticism of the design only honest feedback. I would never buy a hand held release that asks me to loosen my grip at the shot. Full disclosure I like a wrist strap index finger release so I am probably not the target consumer.
Does that mean you don't enjoy using your fingers on the string?
I think I know what you mean by a wrist supported index finger release. It's pretty good but my fingers are too short for those releases. I find myself applying torque to the handle of the release.
@@LoreFoundry When its my fingers on the string it is different because i am not trying to retain a device at the release of the string.
Relaxing a muscle into a shot it likely more accurate and consistent than tensioning a muscle or group of muscles to set off a trigger or sear.
Most shoot a thumb button with the same idea. Your grip naturally loosing from fatigue as you pull through your shot.
If you’re shooting a thumb button style release correctly, you’re practicing “relaxing” your hand to get a “surprise” release. It’s pretty common.
That way of drawing, with palm facing out, has destroyed my shoulder. Not going through 10 months of painful down time ever again.
I had the same issue. However, I fixed it by pulling back normal and then rotating the palm facing out after the bow drops all the weight off. I blew out my rotator cuff doing other shit and couldn't pull back 20 lbs. After rehabbing it, also took a year and rotating after drop off, shoulder pain gone. I could pull 80 lbs all day but stick with 70.
How is this any different than previous versions of relaxation releases, other than relaxing index finger rather than tension from the thumb.
Ive always wondered why no one had a release that worked this way.
May need a wrist lanyard as I can see people relaxing all the fingers and this thing going down range etc etc
He actually sent me a wrist lanyard with the release I just chose not to use it.
I'll most likely be doing some shorts video with it as well. Mr. Estrada says that it releases fast enough that if you release all 3 fingers at full draw the release just drops straight to the ground. So far I haven't had the nerve to try that but I will soon. LOL
And the hook that goes on the loop is turn the opposite way I like it
What happens if you want to let down from full draw?

Idk about trying to relax your index in a high anxiety hunting situation....but could be possible....the exact opposite to pressing....contracting the finger model....could make for a better surprise release
It appears you're using it with a d-loop on your bowstring. Is this true? I prefer wrist releases, and the neck on that model looks very long, where I would need to shorten my draw length. This would not be a major problem for me if I like it, as I have a 31 inch draw length. Just curious to know if what I think I'm seeing is correct--the long neck on the release shortens the draw length of the bow.
Thanks for watching, you are correct. The neck is quite long and would require most people to shorten the draw length. With that said, this is only a working prototype, I feel like most designers would shorten that neck length for the very reason you mention.
Makes sense. It is a prototype and Felix is putting these together by hand--making smaller components with tight tolerances would no doubt drive up his cost to the point where he could not keep it affordable. I wish I had half a million to invest, I'd back him.

Any hinge can be fired by relaxing the index finger!

Can’t say I like the look but that’s just me . What I do like is how simple it is and there isn’t a lot of movement in your hand or elbow like you have with a handheld release . The “push and pull” method for my handheld release is fine and dandy, but you’re pushing your bow away while you’re pulling back that’s a lot of moment and as we all know the less movement with a bow and your release, the better because your shots gonna be more accurate. If he can get this to a company like b3 archery, Scott archery or big names like Carter or Stan I think if they revamp the design and put some high quality components then he’s gonna have a great product . And I don’t mean any disrespect by saying high-quality components and the design is bad. I’m just saying that I don’t know what material was used.

But when you relax a finger that's holding the string, the string will tilt.
Those guys at gogun would like that i think.
you relax the index finger with a normal hinge release too.
Which is what made it intuitive, however rotation is what activates a hinge not the index finger.
Thanks for watching I agree many people shoot a hinge by relaxing the index finger. As I mentioned in the video these people would shoot this release really well with a very short learning curve.
I hate to bust your bubble here. This is not new technology. You can take any cam over / back tension release and shoot it the same way. You have to relax your index finger or pull with your other fingers. Back tension is a myth. You always have it but a straight pull will yield nothing. You might shake like the dickens. I have watched many videos of all the top shooters claiming to shot B.T. They all cam the release over in one way or another. Bernie Pellerite started this crap. Put at B.T. or thumb release in a hooter shooter and pull til the limbs break. You can also shoot a thumb release by holding the thumb on the trigger and relaxing the index finger. Last but not least. Spot hogg invented a release you activate with your thumb and relax the thumb to fire. Sergio won vegas a few times with it.
Thanks for watching, I actually agree about a hinge. When I teach people to shoot a hinge I teach that if you only pull you could pull the axles out of the limbs and the release won’t go off. It has to rotate.
I actually mentioned Cascade and a couple others that have made relax type releases. In the video.
What sets this release apart is Mr Estradas patented mechanism. Hopefully someone will take it and refine it then bring it to the industry.

As a qualified design engineer and experienced compound bow hunter, It is my opinion that this design is unacceptably dangerous.
For prey?
@JackGFriend I assume you intend "prey" to mean a live game target as distinct from a static bulls eye target. If so, then my opinion applies to both, although I would add that in the case of live game, there is the additional prospect of unintentionally releasing the arrow in such a manner to cause a non-fatal point of impact causing inhumane animal suffering.
Yeah, prey is far from a static bulls eye target unless you are putting in the work to train for live game as one should. I am curious how your background as a design engineer and experienced compound bow hunter brings you to the conclusion that this "prototype" is unacceptably dangerous? Is it because it is new and uses a different pressure than is the standard for your experience? I like innovation and think this is more than acceptable to explore and am happy there is innovation for us all to test and maybe it will fit someone better than it fits for someone like yourself. On the other hand, I may hate it if i ever try it. I do like supporting innovation and I think it is good for all of us that enjoy archery. Just my thoughts. Take care.
@JackGFriend Particularly when actually hunting, it is quite common to come to full draw and hold in anticipation of the animal coming into clear range and/ or presenting the optimum heart/lung window of intended point of impact. Sometimes the duration of the hold is much longer than first anticipated and even then, a let down from full draw, without the kill shot release being able to be made happens quite often. In those circumstances, any unintended reduction in grip pressure would cause the arrow to be fired in an unexpected and uncontrolled manner .... obviously very dangerous. While there are of course several different globally circulated types of release designs, those incorporating thumb or index finger triggers which retain the d- loop until the trigger is intentionally depressed, are thereby innately safe as they cannot release simply through lack of attention to grip.
@@willshuntingnah, loads of people hunt and shoot target with hinge releases and tension activated releases. You learn to run them and it's not an issue. I'll regularly let down my hinge even after it's past the click.

Thanks for watching, No argument here about the hinge being hard to beat. I've been shooting the same hinge for more than 10 years. This release is the first one I've tried that made me think it could replace my hinge. It still needs work and is a long way from being complete but the concept is there
This isn't a new idea, and it isn't a good idea. There are novel releases every now and then and if they require one to do something, they eventually come down to the point where they are conscious releases and no help at all. For a short while they will be a distraction and work, but eventually they are just like any other conscious release. This is like the golfer with the yips who keeps changing putters, works for a while until it doesn't because there is no change in the fundamental problem.
The reason back tension releases work is because one has to pull through the shot anyway. So at full draw one has to not collapse and pull through the shot; aim, and release the arrow. A back tension release fires the bow by pulling through the shot (using back tension). So you reduce the conscious processes to 2 from 3. And if one has a non-conscious way of aiming, and these exist, all of a sudden one is down to one thought, and that is how one eliminates target panic. Or stops it from ever developing.
The only other release that does this, as far as I know (there are tons of back tension releases, more than one type, but the same process), is the Carter release they made for a year or so, that used electronics to fire the bow on an unpredictable cycle. It was expensive, and basically a training aid
If you are using a back tension release properly, and you don't have a wrist strap it will fire the bow out of your hand, towards the target.

Looks like a terrible design for me. I much prefer an index release for numerous reasons. The main reason is I have control over my shot. I can’t stand a surprise release. My groups go to crap with a thumb button or a surprised release. I’m hitting quarter sized dots to 50 yards consistently with an index release. Good luck with it, though.

I hear what you’re saying. But were it not for Chinese knock-offs, I’d never have been able to justify taking up the hobby. I hope one day, to be able to afford a first class, American made compound bow that gives me a 32” draw length.
@@larshowen3319 there are options, these companies show up at the ATA and photograph/scan products from American manufacturers then under sell them on Amazon. When mom and pop shops start going away you guys buying salindas can always send your bows to China to get them tuned.

I honestly have not shot it enough to make that conclusion, with this being a prototype the finish work on the release is not to a level that I would put thousands of shots through my tournament bow with it. With that said, once the design work is completed it is the first release I have shot that made me feel like it could replace my hinge (I've been shooting the same Scott hinge for more than 10 years).
