any tips for a brand new player. i’ve never played before and i have tryouts in 8 weeks and i’m extremely nervous that i’ll be super bad and others will judge me
Emma Chafer play wall ball! if you have a large brick wall at your house or anywhere near your house (my school, for example, has one) and bounce it against the wall and catch it again. another thing you can do is practice cradling everywhere. i cradled almost constantly for a week before the season started because i was so nervous. i also watched a lot of random games on youtube just to see how games actually looked. hope this helps and let me know if you need some more tips ❤️
Sophia R thank you. i’ve been using my bounce pad for wall ball and i’ve been cradling in between bounces a bit. and during school i do watch games on my computer. i’m just super nervous for tryouts and the games. there won’t be cute this year so i’ll get on the team regardless. but just super nervous. thanks again
Hi, I’m on my 3rd season so I’m not that good but, work on switching hands EARLY on while practicing, it helps later on ALOT. Also doing fun stick tricks helps you get to know the stick better and get more comfortable with playing. Another thing to work on is wrist strength, hold the stick at the butt [put a ball in the stick] and just lift it without moving your elbows. Oh and work on ground balls, my coach’s are crazy about them and if you don’t choke up on your stick they yell at you 😂 have fun my dude
I stole alot of moves and drills from basketball when I was playing back in the late 90s. One move in particular was the famous Allen Iverson crossover that really help me shake off defenders.
I tell my girls play around with a tennis ball/stick around the house(inside n out) since it doesn't do the damage a real ball does. I figure despite the weight difference, the movement is the same. Your thoughts?
We made my girl a cradle baby by drilling a hole into a lacrosse ball then putting a strong string into it! Or you could just by one on Amazon or on www.Laxcb.com
ik this is super old but i figured i’d still comment on it incase other people come across this and wonder the same thing. yes there is a pretty big weight difference, the movement is overall the same. i played lacrosse in 6th-7th grade and i’ve just recently picked it back up again(i’m going to be a junior) so my memory of it maybe be a little vague i apologize but for me i had one of those squishy sorta practice balls and you can tell a difference when passing with a friend or doing wall ball drills so i always just stuck with the regular lacrosse ball not so sure about cradling as i don’t remember using it for that. to be fair i had good access to a playing field to practice bc i lived down the street from my school and we had a big lacrosse wall just for practicing so i had no worries about damaging property. i think it’s honestly up to your child weather they want to practice with the tennis ball or not, if they chose not to let them know that this means you guys would have to come up with a different plan of when and where they can practice with a real ball so they can feel more comfortable and your property won’t be damaged. i hope this helps!
for a beginner maybe a stx 100, i think its around 60 dollars. i started with a maverik twist and it was okay for a beginner stick but just felt cheap. you should research on sticks specifically for your position, (defense, midfield, attack). if you are about intermediate now (i now realize this comment was from 4 months ago) i reccomend the stx fortress 300 or the brine warrior dynasty warp next. the brine does not have any strings, its a really cool design that keeps the ball in the sweet spot! anyways yeah thats it lol
Haha I know it’s really late but I started with a $90 stick from the brand STX I was a beginner, but I was already skilled at lacrosse and knew I was going to stick with it because my brother had been doing it for a while so I always practiced with him. There are cheaper ones that are around 40-60 so I would recommend one of those if you don’t want to spend a bunch of money
ok so, this might sound incredibly stupid or genius, but what I do is I use a bouncy ball that bigger than the regular lacrosse ball and cradle and do regular practice routines with the bouncy ball, because what it does is it is harder to use than the regular lax ball, so when your in a game it’s easier to use the stick with it and your stick work will improve. I also like to shoot with these on my couch, just imagine two of the seats is the primiter of the goal and boom, u got it.

Funny you mentioned Kyle since we are only 2 months apart in age. Keep up the great work with these videos. I didn't have this back then.

Excelente 👌🏼
how would the figure 8 ever be helpful or beneficial
keeping control of the ball
@@clairebrown6333and hand agility, understanding stick orientation without looking. Not my favorite of the bunch, but not worthless either.
What brand/model is your stick?
What lacrosse stick do you recommend for 12 year old girls (beginners)
ILoveLacrosseTV ok thank you :D
It might be too late but a STX 7075 is what I would recommend personally

This is late but I recommend crux 100/STX 100.
