I preferred Select figures especially for characters that are normally huge, such as Juggernaut, Colossus and Hulk. Villains such as DST Ultron and Magneto are also good with capturing that "huge" video game boss sprites aesthetic.
Iirc they're both sculpted by gentle giants. With DST came out later, it's nice that they tweaked the sculpt. Hasbro getting "shafted" With the old mold lol
So glad to see you review a select figure. A lot of their recent figures are pretty solid despite their limited articulation. I hope we see a beta ray bill review soon, you won't regret getting him.
Man that is the most solid Red Hulk I've ever seen, despite the limited articulation. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for this guy, he definitely blows Marvel Legends figures out of the water
Limited articulation ? He is actually the same as the Marvel Legends red hulk, only thing that the Marvel select dont have are the backwards Butterflies .

Wow! A day after claiming your job isn't any easier because Hasbro ML (Gamerverse Spidey in this case) doesn't make it so, Diamond Marvel Select comes to the rescue. This is why DST has focused on the larger Marvel characters recently.
@@AnthonysCustoms I'm not sure if you'd have any insight into this (talked to anyone on design teams or something), but why doesn't it? Is it laziness, incompetence, not testing it? Hasbro should absolutely be ashamed of themselves for the cost they’re asking as of the last year. This thing and so much else blows them off the planet for the price point. Side note: if I’m not mistaken, this MS Hulk and ML Hulk bucks were both sculpted by Gentle Giant.
I never understood Marvel Legends, whose approach to figures (reusing sculpts, no paint) is insulting. And I think Diamond Select is underrated. Especially in the last 5 years or so. Wish Select would come out with some updated X-Men figures using more contemporary art references. Love their Psylocke, Rogue, and Beast, and even their older figures like Wolvie and Colossus.
The point of marvel legends was *supposed* to be character availability with acceptable articulation, I believe. That just stopped being a thing once they pushed past the $20 mark (and I'd argue even lower than that amount for quite a few of them). Select has the iceman coming out, but I don't like that you can see the internals. Wish they would have painted it like the base he comes with. I might still pick it up and do that myself.
I'm a hardcore marvel legends collector and I have this figure on my shelf as my red hulk and a marvel select green hulk and they're both perfect in terms of aesthetics and cheaper.
With that new Gamerverse Spider-Man, I kind of wonder if Hasbro is just testing the waters, just seeing how far they can push it with the price until we've had enough.
Thanks for the review! I do hope you continue to review more Marvel Select figures in the future as I'm sure a lot of people mix and match with Marvel Legends, especially the bigger guys. Plus, I keep getting impressed with Marvel Select who seem to improve year after year with usually a pretty darn good value for the money and more and more disappointed with Marvel Legends. If I had any interest in the Red Hulk, I'd get him. Then again, as a bad guy, he looks impressive.
Marvel select is like mcfarlane. Sometimes there are issues but it's so much value for your money. I'm hoping they re-release the PS4 spider-man so I don't have to buy the hasbro spidey.
I remember the days where it was clear that marvel legends was at least slightly better than select. Select used to be so wonky in terms of sculpt, paint, and articulation, but now I’d say that marvel select is head and shoulders better than legends. And now they’re so close in price that it doesn’t seem like that hard of a choice between buying a new marvel legends or a new marvel select
I've loved having MS figures for my display. Sometimes they're bricks and the scale can be all over the place, oh carnage, but when the value proposition is there, it's nearly a instant buy. I'm convince the only reason they don't push Hasbro more is the scale, rumored contractual articulation restrictions, and just limited releases. But there's been more than one time I question getting ML and just stick with MS. Would be easier on the wallet for sure
If you have a few minutes you might want to look into what Hasbro (Wizards of the Coast) is doing with the D&D open gaming license (OGL). It really highlights their current profit-driven mindset in my opinion. Edit: DnD Shorts is the prominent TH-cam channel covering what’s going on.
MADE MY NIGHT! I was actually both surprised and happy because I am diehard follower of Anthonyscustom and DST for their works like Red Hulk! This was such a good review as always! Glad you picked this Marvel Select Red Hulk and reviewed it for us! Glad to also see you being genuinely pleased with it as well! It's indeed a beast for a steal, especially compared to the ML market which is insane! Hope you get your hands on the green Hulk as well, pretty sure you gonna enjoy it too... especially in hand! Can't wait to receive my Red Hulk and do stop motion with it!
I have the green Hulk and I think it looks better than both the 80th and 20th Anniversary Hasbro Hulks. The ML Hulks just look so boxy and have no neck. Also, the shoulders stick out a little too much for my liking. For only $30, the select Hulk is bigger, has a more organic sculpt, and has dark/light shading throughout the musculature. It has a nice heft, and personally, I like the shade of green they used. I wish he came with a gritting teeth head since it can look weird having him always with a yelling expression. The articulation isn't a huge deal breaker for me, but I do think the shoulders and the torso could be better. Overall, I'm impressed with how much quality and care was put into both the green and red Hulks. It honestly feels like an import (I know, I'm exaggerating 😂) I'm definitely getting the Select classic Vision they just released. It's a little tall for ML, but you can hide that through some posing plus I think it'll look better than that Retro Vision that's hundreds of dollars on the aftermarket.
I really like this hulk mold and I don't hate the face on the green one. The articulation isn't great, but it's good enough for hulk and IMO they both look much better than their ML's counterparts.
Forany of the larger scale figures, i would always go for the Diamond select over Legends. Just waiting on the Apocalypse to see how that onepans out. I prefered the Selects Hulk Buster and the Titaniumman is great. Especially at that price point.
It's a good figure, but I like the head sculpt and expression on the Target exclusive ML Red Hulk. As for the MS Immortal Hulk(the Green version) I like it better than this one. It's better in person than the pictures. I heard that MS is contractually restricted in giving their figs articulation. However, they have improved over the years compared to their earlier releases.
Vision's articulation is super disappointing... But, boy, I still got it because I'd rather pay $35 for a nice looking VIsion with accesories and unique sculpt instead of $100 for the Legends Retro one. Mine arrives in two weeks, can't wait!
I've been really impressed with Diamond Select's recent offerings. I'd love to know who sculpted this Red Hulk. Diamond brought sculptor May Thamtarana on a couple years ago and he's been killing it with that amazing Titanium Man and Vision.
are you gonna review the marvel select vision??? has some great accessories and a really good look, only thing is it might be too big, but considering hes a robot i think its fine, would love to hear your review and thoughts on it
I honestly think Hasbro doesn't expect people to buy their figures at full price. Selects tend to stay the same price or increase over time. Rarely will I see selects go on sale or clearance. On the other hand, I see legends go on sale before they are even released, sometimes. Seems Hasbro prices their stuff under the assumption that at least half, if not most, will sell at a discounted price. So the actual prices average out to be much lower at retail.
That's a really interesting theory. If their figures sell at full price, they win. If the figures go on clearance, they still win. Even the people who are into customizing could keep Hasbro alive by buying a bunch of figures on sale like Vulcan to use.
I agree I don’t understand how both sell Disney marvel products pay Disney tax but select is a limited release while legends are retail but charge more for less. I know they never will but I hope they were just admit that the CEO of Hasbro said he wants to increase profits by 50% I believe. We would have more respect for the company as collectors if they were just honest and said hey, we got greedy we are sorry. But we all know that’ll never happen.
@@AnthonysCustoms You read right. Have u not opened that 20th anniversary Hulk you showed? The bicep & the forearm rotate independently from each other. You should know this....
I’m surprised you hate the headsculpt on the immortal hulk figure- granted, it looks nothing like the immortal hulk (oddly enough the red hulk face sculpt is more accurate to immortal hulk) but Imo it’s probably the best face sculpt of any comic hulk figure.
I like this and the hulk. I just feel like they are way to big for legends. I know he can be huge sometimes. But some figures just scale better with legends and fit very well.
I find marvel select is always cheaper than marvel legends retail price and I have a few big ones like titanium man and the Hulk Buster just beautiful figures
I don't wanna defend Hasbro being cheapstakes, but does it help Dianmond Select also makes statues so they can cover new molds for almost every figure? Does that have anything to do with the production of the figure? Also,I love the most of the time Dianmond will either give some huge figure or something with a ton of accessories
I think in 2023 not escalating the price might justify the missing alternative head. I would prefer them to include it and charge just a bit more but I wouldn't fault them too much over that detail given how well painted and all he is. That's my insight.
I don't really follow DST, but with everyone else raising prices over these last few years, has DST just not done that? I worked at a shop in 2019 that sold them for $30, so It's kind of crazy that they're still that price. Hasbro is, probably, the largest toy company and they're just churning out blah lately.
They have raised their prices too, just not like Hasbro. If I remember correctly, they were like $23-$26 (I'm pretty sure I paid $23 for my Select Venom from BBTS ten years ago, lol), nowadays most Select figures are like $30, but yeah, as far as I know they haven't increased their prices since that even with the inflation, which Hasbro actually uses as an excuse.
I like marvel selects for larger figures where limited articulation isn't as big as a deal. That said I'm fine with my marvel legends 80th Anniversary Hulk and Red Hulk.
Dang, I thought Darwin would finally be defeated but it ended up in another head for his personal collection, lol. A lot of people love to bring up the "license fees" argument to defend Hasbro's prices and somehow Diamond Select can release stuff like this for $25-$30... Yeah, no, that's bs. Sure, you can do so much with their articulation but the Marvel Select line can do really nice display pieces from time to time. Their Hulks, Vision and Beta Ray BIll are great figures even if their articulation isn't the best.
Well Anthony I must say that I happened to like this figure. I don't own neither Red or Green Hulks. But I want to buy this one. Hopefully I can buy him soon. Once I find out where can I buy him.👍
Great review Anthony! But I think your videos could really benefit from more comparison if you want to stay objective, in general I'm not seeing night and day difference between this & legends, things you point out on select (sculpt, proportion), legends has it 50/50 when I'm eyeing that from mine, it's not that much of a difference. I know it's more work, but hey I'd love for a more insight from you ha. That saying I love them all anyway, more Hulks the better!. Having a tad bit more fun with the legends cause of articulation & scale, that makes a huge difference imo. You should buy the green version btw, head is fine in person, Keep up the good work! 👍 ~B
ive heard from another reviewer that Selects have limited articulation and range because they are forced to do so so they dont fully compete w/ Legends
Their Hulk is awesome. I have the green Hulk and that's only Hulk I'd ever like considering the price from all other Hulks. Ridiculous pricy for not so much better features or size.
I wish MS. would come up with some better packaging. Its impossible to take them out of the plastic w/o. completely destroying the package. Still , this Red Hulk kills it. So i had to buy one. Good review. Thanks.
Just one point, Its CHEAPER in USA, in countries like India, we pay more for figs that are heavy, big boxes due to customs and increased shipping. Its costs $ 40 in shipping from bbts, LOL. ML costs USD 8 or 16 max for shipping.
That's not a factor in determining value per dollar as far as a review goes. Having to ship to India isn't a problem with the figure, just unfortunate circumstances for the collector.
@AnthonysCustoms Yeh, I agree. But customs charges too much here, 45% to 80% , we pay crazy prices here to acquire even basic ML. Wish I was in the USA, hehe!
Articulation's disappointingly a deal-breaker. I know articulation isn't Select's strong suit but this is almost as egregious as their Invincible figures. Makes me worried about their Beta Ray Bill.
Marvel select have gained a good reputation for bigger Sized characters like hulk, titanium man and apocalypse. Also since hasbro has been sucking so much with that new gamer verse Spider-Man figure, you might wanna look at the marvel select one, sure it’s bigger but the sculpt is great
Their disney store exclusive ones are solid too. Taskmaster is probably one of my favorite figures I own and I ended up liking the loki + kid loki way, way more than I expected to.
Eh, it's just a scale-up version of legends with better-sized feet, head, hands, but with much worse articulation. Idk why people are crazy quick saying this is MUCH better than Legends, when everything is virtually the same other than the scale, price & value. Well, I guess price does makes that really huge of a deal huh. I owns them all, apple and orange in the end. I think we're due for a new style of Hulk.
@@AnthonysCustoms I do think it's better than legends too yeah, but it's still in the same ballpark generally speaking, same silhouette, same style & it came off more as a "retool" from the same mold in the end. Me personally woulda prefer different style, considering now Legends & Select will be doing virtually this "same" Hulk mold for lord knows how many times in the future lol.
@4:55 I have been watching your reviews for years and you have some bad luck with qc lol. Not all the time but more than most reviewers. That ear is crazy, someone ripped his 90's hoop earring out. Great review, thanks.
@@AnthonysCustoms I forgot but seen it in a video, they said it's the same sculptor or crew. The wrists and ankles have almost identical weird nubs too.

Marvel Legends prizes are not reasonable. They only surfing on the fact they are Hasbro... even the plastic, paint and sculpt quality is not higher than on any other figure that is not hasbro. Just the fact they are Hasbro they put higher prices on these Darwins.
Man, $30 Marvel Select's massive figures are giving more value for your money that the ever-rising prices of Hasbro figures.

Well Anthony I must say that I happened to like this figure. I don't own neither Red or Green Hulks. But I want to buy this one. Hopefully I can buy him soon. Once I find out where can I buy him.👍
Thanks for reviewing this! Beta Ray next please please please!!!!
will do
OOOOOOHHHHHH BOY! I was waiting for you to review this guy!
Hey Anthony if u heat it up the bicep swivel works a lot better
yes. i said you can flex the pvc to make it move more.
You see now Hasbro this is how you freaking do a perfect red hulk figure as well as green savage hulk too in marvel legends form!
What score would you give the marvel select juggernaut?
Idk. I haven't handled that figure in years. If i don't have one, I'll buy one and review it some day
@@AnthonysCustoms you should, it’s really good.
9 myself almost perfect just a tiny bit more articulation
~B
ive heard from another reviewer that Selects have limited articulation and range because they are forced to do so so they dont fully compete w/ Legends
I don't know if this has been asked before, but are you considering reviewing the Jujutsu Kaisen Figures from S.H. Figuarts in the near future?
OMG! Diamond Select please take my money!!!
You should review the MS Beta Ray Bill when it comes out
On the green hulk the head sits on the neck fine in person. It looks weird for some reason in there promo images
good to know. thanks
The sculpt and paint work look incredible. His feet look as if he's wearing flippers.
I need a Red Hulk to go with my Green Hulk I think my Green Hulk scale perfectly with my Marvel Legends.
Thanks.
Cut the bottom of the plastic clam shell with an exacto like with the retro carded marvel legends.
I think you can actually keep the package mostly intact if you open it from the side where they put the art and the character's name.
I want to see Darwin's head collection. He seems to be head every figure you review.
This would be really cool as a Tager (from BlazBlue) custom base
Darwin - half the man but twice the power of a Hulk! 🔥 ridiculous!
Hasbro is just price gauging.
This Red Hulk does a have nice sculpt.
It's a bummer he doesn't have another head, and some better articulation.
Not bad, eventhough I usually don't collect these figures
who else picked this up when red hulk was annouced for cap 4?
Picked up three...
I hope you get the select Beta Ray Bill figure. It looks amazing. I'd be interested to see your review on it.
I think i ordered it
Sweet.
4:56-Darwin did that off camera
Eh, it's just a scale-up version of legends with better-sized feet, head, hands, but with much worse articulation. Idk why people are crazy quick saying this is MUCH better than Legends, when everything is virtually the same other than the scale, price & value. Well, I guess price does makes that really huge of a deal huh. I owns them all, apple and orange in the end. I think we're due for a new style of Hulk.
The sculpt is so much better it's hardly comparable at all
@@AnthonysCustoms I do think it's better than legends too yeah, but it's still in the same ballpark generally speaking, same silhouette, same style & it came off more as a "retool" from the same mold in the end. Me personally woulda prefer different style, considering now Legends & Select will be doing virtually this "same" Hulk mold for lord knows how many times in the future lol.
Waw 29 bucks..i wanna buy that dude
Does it have knock offs???
Don't know
Nice...
@4:55 I have been watching your reviews for years and you have some bad luck with qc lol. Not all the time but more than most reviewers. That ear is crazy, someone ripped his 90's hoop earring out. Great review, thanks.
it's true
Just FYI, this is the same sculper that did that 80th hulk.
same company for sure but was it actually the same sculptor?
@@AnthonysCustoms I forgot but seen it in a video, they said it's the same sculptor or crew. The wrists and ankles have almost identical weird nubs too.
Thanks for the review, Anthony. Gonna have to pick this one up now. I also have Rampaging Hulk, Venom, Abomination and Juggernaut from MS and love them to pieces.
Can anyone recommend other MS figures that go for retail that are absolutely worth it, pls? Ty! ✌️ p
sabertooth
The pic doesn't do the immortal hulk headsculpt justice, it looks better in hand
That's what I'm hearing. I'll track one down
Some of the selects look great, just too big to really stand in with legends
Oh wow they even sculpted a mole on the lower lip. This is insane.
I believe The Select and the Marvel Legends hulks are sculpted by the same guy.
Same studio, yes.
Same guy, maybe not.
Cool
lol why does darwin love to steal heads...
Yo
Fun fact: both the marvel select hulk and the ML 80 years hulk were sculpted by the same person.
i know they were both gentle giant. was it actually the same guy though?
Yes Steve did them
Hey, will you make any special video when you reach the 200k subscribers? Just wondering
i think ill just do a live q&a
Marvel Legends prizes are not reasonable. They only surfing on the fact they are Hasbro... even the plastic, paint and sculpt quality is not higher than on any other figure that is not hasbro. Just the fact they are Hasbro they put higher prices on these Darwins.
Yo I love your videos. Can u please review Kure Raian and Ohma Tokita from Kengan Ashura (Netflix show) 🙏🏽
thanks. no plans to review those. sorry
@@AnthonysCustoms awww ok 👍🏽 thanks for responding 🙏🏽
Gentle Giant also did the sculpt for the Marvel legends version.
yes
I don’t understand why diamond select does 99% of their figures better than hasbro
Are you Canadian? I'm lost when you measure in metric. Get to inches already lol
... What? I measure in both units within seconds of each other in every video.
