HERE'S THE SECRET: If you want to remove some of the bitterness of instant coffee and make it more palatable, first pour a tad of COLD water into the cup and mix it with the spoonful of coffee. THEN pour in the hot water. This takes a lot of the bitterness out.
Thanks for the great video. I’ve never tried any of the Bustelo coffees but I thought they used robusta coffee beans and not arabica. Maybe that’s why the tea is different. Not sure since I have never tried robusta coffee.
Nescafe Classico is always in my cabinet for when I just need a quick cup. Add a little cold water and mix the grounds before adding the hot water. I think it makes a smoother cup.
For people who are accustom to stronger cups of coffee, I have found with instant, I have to mix it 2-3 times the prescribed mixing quantities on the label... Cafe Bustelo I find better than decent if I mix it 2.5x stronger in boiling water then allow it to cool some. But, I recall Cafe Via packets revolutionizing my coffee while mountaineering life quality back in the day.
The ground Cafe Bustelo is actually really really quite nice so when I saw they had an instant option I was so excited but to my suprise it was so awful. I definitely recommend the ground espresso over the instant.
Thanks for doing this so I don't have to 😄 I also take my daily, freshly ground coffee black because I enjoy the flavor. I had the exact same reaction to Folgers when I was away from home 😖; if that's all thats around, I'd opt for tea.
Nothing wrong with the Nescafé clasico! I honestly drink it at home when I want something comforting - and I usually otherwise drink fancier pour over coffee
Maxim is a Korean brand and is one of my favorites if you can find it. South Korea makes better instant coffee because they are a new coffee market and instant is less of a barrier of entry because you don't need to purchase some type of brewing method to try it. Jacobs is also good.
I bought a 3 oz jar of Nescafe Clasico a few weeks ago. I used to buy bottled Ice Coffee, (I prefer iced to hot). It is almost as good as the bottled iced coffee that I used to spend seven bucks on.
Starbucks Pike Place is what you used in this test. That's their middle of the road general blend which I despise. You might try one of the other Starbucks instant packs as a potential contender. Thanks for a great video.
How can you not pronounce Nescafe correctly? I would think on the trail the individual packets would have an advantage over even a plastic jar just in terms of packability.
I have had Nescafe. . . If that's the best instant around, drink tea from bags. OR. You CAN make real coffee backpacking or camping. You need an Aeropress or a stainless steel french press of some kind. You can get double walled or vacuum insulated or Stanley makes the single wall Stanley Adventure All-In-One Boil + Brew French Press which is actually backpacking good because you boil water in the same pot you make the french press in and it's cheaper than the double wall french presses.
I'm furious because I just now found out that Cafe Bustelo has sugar and carbohydrates when it should be 0g. And by not having a nutrition value label on the product that literally says it all.
I use instant coffee to make coffee ice cream and use cafe bustelo bcuz it’s best smelling coffee I ever whiffed, and makes superb coffee ice cream. No coffee taste all that different from others that I can tell.
yeah in my opinion instant coffee takes just a tea spoon of coffee to 6 to 8 oz cup of water stir till desulved then nuke the cup add flavoring to taste and walla your done , regular coffee cost way more and you need a coffee maker and it takes up alot of time . when instant coffee taste just as good if not better just sayin
too me all coffees taste like sh*t but i fix the flavor by adding creamers of many flavers , all i need is the caffeine boost and great flavored enouph said just sayin

Awesome! Thank you Peter Piper!
Yes this works!
I'm so glad you picked that one. I'm making my own MRE'S and I purchased 84 sticks of Nescafe Clasico coffee to put into them.
Nescafe was always my favorite instant coffee. To me it tastes the closest to fresh brewed so it is a good substitute if you are in a hurry.
My favorite is "Elite" but I haven't expanded my horizons much, so I'm watching these videos for another to try. Thanks for the review!
Yummy 😋😊 I can't wait to try them all 😊
Great video. I like the Tasters Choice.. I will have to try the brand you like for cold coffee
That's a great idea. Thank you!
Thanks for the great video. I’ve never tried any of the Bustelo coffees but I thought they used robusta coffee beans and not arabica. Maybe that’s why the tea is different. Not sure since I have never tried robusta coffee.
Your top pick is my go to instant coffee. Definitely not to bad black.

That's good to know! Yes, the instant version was really bad. I had high hopes. :)
Same!
Quiet agree 👍 !
I drink a pot before work. Shit gets me WWWWIRED(not the instant, haven’t tried it)
Really really quite nice doesn’t even make sense 😂
Thanks for doing this so I don't have to 😄 I also take my daily, freshly ground coffee black because I enjoy the flavor. I had the exact same reaction to Folgers when I was away from home 😖; if that's all thats around, I'd opt for tea.
Of course, thank you for watching! :) Watch out for another coffee video.

I am a coffee addict. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
So am I! Thank you for watching! :)
And you drink instant?#askingforafriend
Best I've found so far is Nescafe Amero Americano, that's pretty good, on short trips though I still pack the Aeropress.
To each his own but I have no problem with Folgers Instant Coffee.

I keep a jar of Cafe Bustelo instant coffee in my office. It's alright for a quick cup of afternoon coffee. Serviceable but not great.
Good review

The Folger was rated the best in a barista taste test
I’ve had the regular Bustelo with an expresso pot and the instant. They taste the same to me. Cafe La llave expresso is the best
Nice presentation

I will try another. I'm getting ready to film another coffee video. Thank you for watching! :)
Thanks 👍🏾
Thank you for watching! :)
Nice video. Question: have you ever made cowboy coffee?
Thank you! No, I haven't unless that is just really strong coffee. haha
The one I’m about to make a cup of now won
I am blending three different instants to achieve an acceptable cold brew taste.
Beautiful ❤
You shared nice video
Thank you for watching!
How can you not pronounce Nescafe correctly? I would think on the trail the individual packets would have an advantage over even a plastic jar just in terms of packability.
When they do this tests I decide to go for the lowest on their scale turns out im usually right and the worst are the ones that came on top

Great idea! I do have a jet boil and a small French press. Thank you for watching!
The answer is a titanium French press (ultra lightweight and you get your brewed coffee on the trail)
Is the Nescafé Classico a dark roast ???
Yes, it is : )
Yes, thanks for watching!
I’m surprised regular Nescafé beat out Tasters Choice. Both made by the same company.
Rinse with water between tasting

Huge difference. Some coffee taste like dirt water
Great info, you better not waste any of those no matter how bad they are!
Oh I did not! We use them when we run out of our regular coffee. 😂
Caffeine content>>Flavor.
ALL instant tastes bad. Which WORKS the best?

Great Value over Bustello?? I'm out
Plot twist: Fine/Espresso grounds Do Not Need To Be Filtered. They sink to the bottom of the cup.
No need for freeze dried instant
Dammit!!!
I just purchased instant coffee for the first time in my life just so I had a backup coffee. And what do I buy? Folgers. 😠
Well, coffee is coffee! :) Stay tuned for more coffee videos!
🤭
Just try mixing it stronger and let it stand a couple of minutes (start with 1.5x and add from there) it’ll make it palatable🤞🏼maybe 🤔
Who rates 1-6? Crazy lady!🤭
I don't know, I came up with my own system that doesn't make sense. lol Thank you for watching!
It’s 1-6 because there are 6 coffees in the test.
Just ditch the instant and take an Aeropress. Problem solved.
I'll check it out. Thank you!
dirty water = 0/5 😅
Haha That's all I could think of! Thank you for watching. :)
too me all coffees taste like sh*t but i fix the flavor by adding creamers of many flavers , all i need is the caffeine boost and great flavored enouph said just sayin
Since Americans have trouble getting along due to fake news, is there such a thing as white coffee along with black coffee...lol
I'm not sure what you mean, but I do know there are blonde roasts. Thanks for watching!
