However, Brazilian football was very strong at the time, superior to European football, and Pelé dominated São Paulo football, dominated the Taça Brasil (Brazil cup), and dominated America, making Santos BI consecutive champions of the Libertadores, then Santos stopped playing Libertadores because of money (he paid little), and he went on tours in Europe, beating the best European clubs by rout. Other than that: 3 World Cups. Sorry 😎🍷🗿

One of the many reasons I believe Messi is the greatest ever period is because had simply focused on scoring his entire career like in 2012, he would have the most goals of all time with ease. Had he simply focused on creating and controlling the game from the midfield, he would have been considered the greatest midfielder ever. He thrives in anything attacking position.

4:40 To me, this play shows Messi in all his glory even tho he doesn't even score it and the goal was disallowed due to a tight off-side. And in what other than a match between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
He grabs the ball close to the midfield. He gets 3 players on him. And manages to attract 2-3 more. Manages to escape the first 3 players with relative ease. The 4th one attempts to cross his leg but fails. A 5th one comes from the back, but he too fails and leaves a gap in the last line. At this point, the 6th one has to leave his mark to cover the 5th player's position. But it's too late, because with little else to do, a teammate just runs to the space behind a 7th player and Messi puts the ball right there where he wants it. His teammate doesn't even have to control and instead just finish with one touch.
In the score of that match, it won't even show up. At best, you'll see in the highlights that here was a goal disallowed by off-side. But what Messi did in that play... Goal or no goal, you just cannot take that away. You gotta hate the game if you think there's no value. And the same thing goes for all other plays Messi(or even any player, why not) that don't necessarily end in a goal. Because that's the real beauty of football. There's so much more to it than merely scoring a goal.

Messi 10/11, 11/12, 12/13, 14/15 and 18/19 are the 5 best individual seasons of this century, which means that Messi in his 5th best season was a better player than CR7 in his best season - that says it all

Messi had had multiple primes. His “god peak” as I like to call it was 2010/2011, 2011/12, and 12/13. Let’s not forget that in 12/13 he was on pace to break every record he had set in 12 before the injury in April. This is the greatest prime of all time. 2015 and 2019 he was also in “god mode” and could debatably be put in then. Then, you have his “2nd prime” as I like to call it where he is still possibly the best player in history, which is 2009, 10, 14, 15, 19, and his last prime was 22 World Cup Messi
