    Do you ever have bad weather in Greece?!?! EVERY SINGLE video you share has seemingly perfect weather…. I’m jealous! Thanks for sharing!!

      It's not as practical as it looks.... I'd prefer a few more rain days!!! Thank you!

      For real right?! I’ve got the chirping birds, but it’s nearly always humid and buggy!! 😅

      Humid and buggy sounds really nice right about now... We are in the first strong heatwave...

    Hi my friend,i think that this taxodium has excellent potential because you have done a great job in these years to thicken the trunk....now little by little you will have to build the branching and i'm sure that you will be able to do it very well. Have a nice weekend my friend!👏👏👏

    • @ArkefthosBonsai
      @ArkefthosBonsai  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you Roberto! Building the branches in this is a bit stressing to be honest. Unfortunately I don't have experience with the species in their natural environment and I would really love to make a tree that looks natural, like in the south east US. I'll try though. Cheers!

      @@ArkefthosBonsai i agree with you,this species is difficult to adapt to classic bonsai styles so it's better to observe how it grows in nature. Cheers!

      Let's hope so Frans! Still has a lot of ways to go and I don't have experience in styling old growth Taxodium trees. Well see! Thank you!

    I love your videos and your trees and did learn a great deal out of it.
    I just wonder why you keep the circling root(s?) around the trunk in the front of this tree. Don’t you want to get rid of it in the future? Not sure if it’s wrapped around the trunk or just going down in the soil.

    • @ArkefthosBonsai
      @ArkefthosBonsai  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thank you Martijn, very much! I guess you mean the thick root going a third around the trunk. That is a root. I failed to remove early in the tree's life and 3 years later in the next repot, it was already quite thick and fused to the trunk. I decided to address it later. But as the years passed by the root got even more fused and now it's part of the trunk. By now, I have accepted this as a feature, that in fact I've placed exactly in the front of the tree. There are roots coming out of it, growing perfectly radially out, so now it is part of the nebari. I think it will bkend in nicely eventually. Cheers!

      @@ArkefthosBonsai I don't mind the way that root looks. It's a distinctive feature and gives the tree more character.

      I agree with you Edwin, but since I do have a good climate for it, it doesn't hurt. Growing different genus is addicting. Plus it is good exercise. Studying how to do it justice and replicate an old growth Taxodium is nice practice. Cheers!

    • @ArkefthosBonsai

      Well said! Still, there is something that the Japanese have found in their 300 years of practicing the art, that is very appealing. Classic styles are so well studied and perfected that it is very hard to successfuly deviate them. Cheers!
