The skip shift was there to meet CAFE (corporate average fuel economy). Don’t like it? Just unplug it ffs. Only distinguishing features? WRONG. While the uninformed may not notice the entire rear end of the car is wider to accommodate the tires, and if you know where to look it’s very easy to spot. And finally, the “immediate competition” NSX, 928S4, and 300zx would all get their doors blown off by this car.
Correct. I’m lucky to own a 1992 Acura NSX, and the Corvette is Much more powerful, and faster. At the time Japan had a regulation that 290 HP was the maximum allowed. So I bought an NSX and a Corvette!
@@genericdenizen1 Wow you're lucky lol. I'd love to hear how the two cars stack up against each other. Having unfortunately never been in one I can't imagine an NSX isn't one of the closest things to balanced perfection the way an E36 M3 is.
Actually the two engines L98 and LT5 have the same bore centers and the ZR-1 is almost 4 inches wider than the L98. You can tell a ZR-1 by the space between the license plates and back up lights also the rocker panels, and the deep set rear wheels. But I agree if you don't know, it is kinda hard to tell. It's a sleeper for sure. I own a 1990 ZR-1 and it's a cool AZZ machine, a blast to drive. 👍🏁
Boy this takes me back to my childhood with posters on the wall and monthly runs to the library to read the latest auto rags. I had people tell me all the time I should work for auto companies because I knew so many facts. LOL! I was just entering high school about this time. Anyway look at that lack of body roll! If this was foreign he would have melted. Now when it come to the....uh...sugar in the tank....well we all know you can buy locking gas caps after market. GM's undoing to me in many ways is the fact they tried to please auto writers who were simply biased and sometimes lied. They should have stayed true like they did with the small block. OK they had many undoings but this was one. Edit: now think of this 60-0 in less that 100 feet and he gave a 9. Look at that handling and he gave an 8. Bye!
Advanced driving school for a 375hp car😂😂😂😂. Really tells you how pathetic the car world was back in 1990 when a 375hp car was considered "insanely powerful"! They even had a "valet key"...omfg that's hilarious 😂😂😂😂
It was hilarious when he said the car is not for the meek or a geek. This guy is a GEEK.that said the car is awesome.
80k in 1990 is 173k in today's dollars!! I've been a C4 owner since 1994, C4s are awesome Vettes!!
Commentator: there is no such thing is a zed in the Corvette world. It’s a Z R 1. Please get it right. Thank you.
News flash. The U.S. isn't the only country on earth. At least now you know.
Sure there is. Zed and Maynard.
I crack up every time this guy says Zed R 1. Lmao!
