A short cosplay story, I was at my very first furcon cosplaying Shadow The Hedgehog. There was one point where a group of little kids in Pokemon and Digimon onesies yelled "oh my gosh it's Shadow The Hedgehog!!" and ran up asking for hugs. It was the. Cutest. Thing. Ever. I wasn't expecting them to recognize my character, either, since they were so young. I was either expecting them to a. Mistake me for Sonic, or b. Not recognize my character at all and pay no mind to me. There was another instance on the final day of the con where a group of little kids walking by saw me, got really excited, and ran up for hugs. Needless to say, I had an amazing time the entire furcon.
Does anyone here get hugged randomly at cons? No matter what I go as someone wants to hug me. Although I was shocked when a child came up and hugged my legs when I was talking to a fellow cosplayer and my friend walked off to get us a drink before the kid got there so I didn't even get a photo 😭😭😭
So for my first con i went as a pretty bad pikachu and me and my friend were walking around and then she tugged my arm and points at an fem ash cosplayer and i got my pic taken with her and I almost cryed

This is more related to being in cosplay/ kimono around strangers rather than my photo shoot secrets but one time during a con I decided to go get some Starbucks (while wearing my kimono) and the barista asked me so many questions, one of them being "Do you wear that everyday?" lmao it was great

I went to a convention that was held on a college campus once, it was a nice campus and I got dropped off in cosplay. Too bad the students had no clue a bunch of weebs in colored wigs would be there. Also, too bad that only 2 people cosplayed for Day 1 (It was a small, new con)

Made alot of friends that day.

My best friend & I were having a photo shoot as Misty & Serena from Pokémon on the grounds of her university in the middle of the summer so we thought we’d be pretty isolated...little did we know an alumni event was happening in the building behind us and suddenly a bunch of older people dressed in formal wear exited the building to see us in our cosplays...we just had to own it & go about our business 😂 a student also approached us and asked why we were dressed as Pokémon characters, but he ended up being really cool about it and complimenting us, so that was nice! 😂
Hi! After quarantine I have been planning to go to fanexpo! It’s actually going to be my first convention- anyway I am going as Sayori! I got really exited when I saw Yuri on the thumbnail because it is good to know people are like me and yknow- like ddlc and wears cosplays of it to conventions and stuff

One time I cosplayed Jade from Mortal Kombat at Dragon Con. I knew that it was gonna be warm that day but my costume is slightly revealing. So I didn't think I'd have to worry about getting too hot. Lol big mistake! I was sweating so bad I had to chug like 3 bottles of water once i got into the vendors hall. So I totally get over heating in a costume 😂❤

Getting asked for hugs is normal, if people do it without permission though, that's a whole other situation.
