- This is a video I made in hopes to get a campaign started so that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will consider Andy Serkis for a Best Acting Oscar. For his role as Caesar in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
If you have seen the movie then you will know how engaging and special the performance was and I hope you will like and share the video with everyone. We need to get this out there so people can see it and I hope you will help me do this.
Andy Serkis is, in no uncertain terms, a genius. He's one of the nicest people you could ever meet, incredibly committed to his work, and sadly under-appreciated.
Bot ahh comment
@@happicheshirecat hes not and its 9 years old
Do you know him how you know he’s the nicest person
There's something very moving about Serkis' work in this. It's like he accessed something very wild and primal that exists within us all.
Guilherme Eddino him and that toby guy that played koba. He got really into the part like Andy did and they both did awesome together
koba was as good if not better than Caesar @@bigdabber9907
Andy Serkis is an absolute master of his craft. He's sadly underappreciated despite being one of the finest actors in cinematic history. Not only can he completely inhabit the strangest of roles, he's damn good as a human, incredibly versatile, and also just an A+ guy and a lovely man.
This is more relevant than ever. Caesar's portrayal in War was his best yet
I still can't believe Andy hasn't gotten ANY Oscar recognition for what he's done in film. Especially for Gollum: who cares if CGI is layered over it, it's still Andy's movements, facial expressions, and voice. His portrayal was amazing, I really think it was one of a kind. He's done an incredible job bringing characters to life, and isn't that what acting is about at its core?
The Oscars can be so traditional and narrow minded sometimes... they need to realize that things change.
HELL YEAH. fifty years from now, they'll look back at Andy Serkis as a legend from our time, a pioneer born from theatre that used his body with all his soul, well into an era full of technology that's enriching entertainment unlike ever before. There was the stage; then came film; then came sound; then came CGI; then came motion-capture... and within the revolutionary movie magic of mo-cap we were blessed with Andy Serkis.
I wonder what's next....
swigga4O couldnt agree more i just hope he receives the recognition he deserves whilst he can enjoy it.cesar is a masterful performance and as for gollem well serkis performance was so good gollem is the most recognisable character from lotr
Can we just all agree that Andy Serkis is perfect?
ReMeLa02_03 yes
We can because not only he played Caesar he played King Kong in 2005
Forget oscar, this man needs a knighthood now
@@GreenGlo1991 lol

Lol
@@Bird_God_ what is funny?
@@DogOfHades well... Andy Serkis never gets oscars and this person is making a joke that he deserves a lot more than an Oscar he deserves a knighthood cause Andy is an amazing actor
Mr.Serkis is a GREAT ACTOR!!! It doesn't matter if no one approve his job. Hi don't need it. HI IS ALREADY LEGEND AROUND THE GLOBE!
Still waiting on that Oscar. After "War" he HAS to get it. It's his best Caesar portrayal yet. I cried so much.
Its crazy how far Caesar came. From this, to War.
To now in Kingdom. Who would’ve thought this amazing journey would start from a little window in an attic.
If he's not at least nominated for Best Actor in 'Dawn', I don't know what they're smoking in the academy
I cry every time I watch the entire trilogy and most of it is thanks to Andy Serkis's absolutely brilliant acting! He truly brings Caesar to life! Andy's soul shines through the computer-generated image of Caesar.
This movie could NOT have been made without Andy Serkis. He breathed so much life into Casear, making him so emotional and real. Watching it is unbelievable. It is a beautiful performance. It would be a tragedy for the Academy not to recognize his performance. In my opinion, it is easily the best performance of the year. In our eyes Andy, you have already got the oscar.
There are reasons why I’ve watched Rise, Dawn & War over 50 times and Andy’s acting is 30 of them
He did a good job playing as Caesar
He should've won an Oscar for this, and Gollum!
Andy Serkis is one of those figure that may not receive professional accolades, but will go down in history as one of the greatest l, most influential artists in the history of film.
Shame on the snobs in Hollywood for not considering performance capture a form of acting. If not for their snobbery, I am certain that Andy would have been nominated for an Oscar more than once. Not just for his role as Caesar, but also for his portrayal of Gollum.
Andy Serkis deserves the Oscar.
He really deserves an Oscar and I’m sure he’ll get it one day
You should make one to petition for his role in Dawn. Even more incredible.
I agree......its Serkis' time!
Now for War.
eivom War needs to get him nominated
Andy Serkis has my vote.. Like right now right now.. Not right now later.. Seriously
Andy is a legend
Next master of expression after Charlie Chaplin
i got chills during this awe-inspiring performance
SEM DÚVIDA NENHUMA, IM GRANDE ATOR PERFORMÁTICO, PASSA EMOÇÃO, CHEGO A ME EMOCIONAR, MUITO MERECIDO PARABÉNS
Animators would like Oscars too, but we understand that it's a joint effort and no one person can take the credit, I wish Serkis would be equally humble.
mattmit so actors dont need camera men then??????and make up artists?????and lighting teams??????probably more people involved in a scene for normal acting as is for cgi
this movie was realll really sad, in my opinion, i expected action when i saw the trailer, and poster, i didnt know what to think, and i just saw it a fiew days ago finaly, i was blown away , then i learnd that serkis playd him, i was just, , wow
Legend yt and Andy Serkis
Gosh he was perfect as ceaser.
YEEEEES PLEASE... OMG I AGREE HE IS JUST AN INSPIRING ACTOR, I DON'T THINK PEOPLE REALIZE ACTUALLY HOW GREAT HE IS... HE IS MAGICAL...
HE JUST DESERVES IT... HE REALLY REALLY DOES...
The most underrated actor. He deserves more credit for his work.
guau dios mio .definitivamente un actor que no es de este mundo, solo puedo decir que es impresionante ,lo veia antes pero lo vuelvo a recalcar su trabajo es inspirador ,motivador y hermoso .Gracias andy serkis
It's criminal that these films\Andy Serkis never win an Oscar.
I love Andy!!!!!
im not going to say he should win because im sure there are a lot of other movies with great performances but he damn sure did a good as job and should be considered. WHen i saw the trailer, his character made me want to see this movie.
he's also the king in the Game heavenly sword. Great performance too.
Chills..
He's long due for a nomination, I mean this guy invented/Perfected motion capture acting.
hell yeah! all hail ceasar!
Lentilie hllw
👏👏👏👏
200% yes..master..
Yes yes YES Andy Serkis is waaaay overdue his Oscar. Absolutely stunning, and as an acting student, i always find myself studying the actor's process, and Serkis is simply magical!
But i do wish some people would just bloody learn to spell CAESAR correctly. Not ceaser, not ceasar, not ceser, c-a-e-s-a-r!
Ok rant over. Point is Serkis deserves an Oscar. :)
Andy Serkis is to live capture like Robin Williams was to voice acting. I hope they had the opportunity to meet! 😩🥺
@ShaolinMaster1986 Saw it 4 times and loved it, please guive him the Oscar now!!
Theres no one like Andy Serkis
andy serkis and michael sheen should do a film together
of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope he plays cornelius
sadly he didnt
@@angeloreivaliente3265after all Cornelius has been dead for 300 years
@whitewolfwithblackSP Yes, but until he can get his performance on screen with no additional hard work from many other talented people, an oscar recognising only him is a little unfair. I would happily see him win an oscar in a performance capture catagory, which would be consistent with your description of whats going on here, but not best actor alone. I think there is a lot of value in Andy's work, but he's not a one man team.
mattmit how can you say that?he has to learn to move act and react like a different species yet watching the planet of the apes films cesar was a ape not a man in a motion capture suit.yes it takes a huge team to layer the effects over serkis but only 1 man does the performance.its like saying gary oldman didnt deserve his oscar because without the camera crew there would be no film
Knowing what he became in Kingdom and seeing his journey, you can’t help but weep but also rejoice for the Greatest Martyr in all of cinema🥹
Andy is andy
Anyone remember him from Enslaved? No? Only me?
Oscar
If he doesn't get a nomination, I will lose all hope for humanity and run naked around my apartment complex only wearing my shemagh and my boots. I'm serious.
and Gollum/ Smeagol.
Really wired to think ceased
/signed
How James doesn't laugh seeing Andy's face smushed up against the glass, pretending to be an ape . . . .
Erin F probably because of the masterful performance serkis put it stopped franco from laughing
If he doesn't at least get nominated for his last performance as Caesar in War, then the academy is useless.
What happened to you gollum? :(
even those camera is not able capture his real facial expression that much!!
Really wired to think ceaser was a human
He Iraqi originally from my country
He's a great actor but this film wasn't about apes it was about a virus all else is a smoke screen
he can't win best actor. Ceasar is an animation, a composite of andy and a number of other artists that make his performance great. Without the vfx artists behind the character he is just a man jumping about in a funny looking suit.
Not much people bring me in when its all bullshit CGI except for Mr Serkis.
He is a vastly underrated actor. I have yet to see him give a less than great performance. What annoys me most is he put's many big name actor's to shame yet never get's his true recognition. I think one reason is because his face is often hidden behind the character. He should receive an Oscar for his work.
Really wired to think ceased
Digital actors do not get the credit they deserve for the work they do...acting is acting. It doesn't matter if you are on a stage or behind an avatar. You HAVE to be a great actor to give the character life and make it believable.
Andy represents a new area of acting that is different from method acting and reciting lines. Some people think that being a character that doesn't speak is easy, but it can be quite difficult to capture the performance through the character's emotions, facial expressions, and actions. You have to keep the story going without speaking and Andy Serkis is amazing at it. He deserves the oscar nod
The most amazing thing about what Andy does for me is how much subtlety he manages to get across in his performance while playing a CGI ape. His best moment for me isn't a big loud moment, although he excels at those. It's in War, his delivery of the line "my wife and son are dead". Just the seething, bubbling, violent, quiet rage he expresses in that moment gives me chills every single time. It's the kind of quiet intensity you would think would be lost in translation when doing this kind of work but he (along with the incredible vfx team) manages to bring that out and it's incredible.
Most underrated actor ever.
1:20 - 1:26. Just amazing, I love that clip so much.
Give this man an Oscar, and A RING
Music is too loud; drowns out some of the speaking .
If absolutely nothing fucking else, Serkis needs a goddamn Honorary Oscar for the fact that he is arguably the first actor in history to make his entire career remarkable due to not only his acting but by his contributions to CGI filmmaking. For the love of God, his most memorable roles aren’t even him playing Human characters, but rather that he plays non-human characters with such skill that the line between what is and is not Human is beautifully blurred.
Um ator desempenhar um papel de uma pessoa mesmo é facil, Dificil é desempenhar um papel de um animal com tanta perfeiçao como serkis.. Merece o Oscar
the man gives heart to any character he plays
O cara é bom
Serkis even played as Gullom in LOTR
yes, he is
I saw War a few days ago and if there's any film where he needs and deserves an Oscar and that he didn't get it for the last two movie, Andy Serkis' performance as Caesar in War For The Planet Of The Apes needs at least an Oscar nomination
The performance he pulled in the Apes is one of its kind and he is the only actor who has ever done such an original work in such an inspiring, powerful way. If he doesn't have a nomination , i think that begs the question how come actors like Mark Wahlberg or Jesse Eisenberg gets a nomination and this kind of performance doesnt ?
Definately overlooked by the main hub of mainstream for want of better words. But I think thats a good thing. He doesnt need trophies! He has got what should be enough without trinkets: recognition.
@aamiller90 he's the actor I want to learn from, because the study is there to be a good actor through Shakespeare and Greek plays to learn how to recite lines well, but the art and effort to show emotion and expression is something i feel isn't as exploited as much and should be
Andy Serkis deserves an Oscar. Now more than ever because Gollum's time in THE HOBBIT is clearly the best part of the movie. Loved the game of riddles given life with real performers.
Those scenes tear me down, animal have feeling, weather they're smart or not much
IRAQ will always be proud of you and your father.
Serkis' name should be on the movie poster right next to Franco's.

Andy Serkis is a really good actor...
@daromero20 I'll join you.
Andy is brilliant
And Gollum.
Beast.
@whitewolfwithblackSP Well, he may be humble, maybe hes just ill informed on the process that comes after his work, and its great work he does, but what comes on screen is not 100% his performance.
mattmit no its about 95%his work.hes the 1 who had to learn to move like a animal and make sounds like an animal.how many people does it take to film a normal actor?make up?costume?camera men?lighting?sound recorders?with or without cgi a actor is nothing without his team so all this nonsense you spoke about not being 100%his work is seriously dumb as it takes just as many crew members to get normal action onto film as cgi.
