As someone who is on the way to attending every bowl game that exists, I have to say that a lot of these low stakes bowl games are TONS of fun. Trick plays, fans who don't take the game too seriously, just an overall great vibe.
I think there was also a couple of bowl games held at Oracle Park in San Francisco too.
that’s hard
Re: Fenway hosting football
The NFL Patriots played a few games there in the 1960s
You mean "The AFL Patriots played there for 6 years and abandoned it because it was far too small for the post-merger NFL's requirement of 50,000+-seat stadiums..."
I remember the first ever miami beach bowl between memphis and byu ended in a brawl😂
Fenway Park was the home of the Boston Patriots from 1963-68.
As well as the Boston Redskins from 1933-36 (having been the Boston Braves in their first season at Braves Field, "Redskins" served the dual purpose of being similar to Red Sox while allowing them to keep their Braves uniforms); in fact, all of the classic 20s/30s/40s ballparks except Crosley Field hosted an NFL team at some point.
@@TPTGopher Forgot about the Boston Redskins. You got me on that one.
They could play a bowl game at Nationals Park in Washington DC. The Military Bowl was played at RFK Stadium for many years. Several years ago it was moved to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. and about 25 miles away. Would like to see it moved back to Washington.
Oracle Park in SF use to have a Bowl game there with the Emerald Bowl/Kraft fight hunger bowl
True. Not sure why it discontinued other than " there are too many bowl games already ". The Giants gladly did it for the $$$
PAC 12 demise ended it.
i remember when the harvard yale game was played at fenway and it was the most electric ive seen fenway other than when the 2018 world series was happening
The 2014 Miami Beach Bowl was the greatest bowl game ever played
Was that the one with the fight?
I remember attending the holiday bowl at Qualcomm in 2013 I knew the got stadium demolished but I didn’t know it moved to petco
I 'd like to see Camden Yards host one of those games
Agreed, but with UMD being inside the Beltway and Baltimore not being home to any great academic powerhouse, its kind of unlikely.
You basically described Candlestick Park at 3:30
The Yankee Stadium layout is odd when compared to the NYCFC layout of a larger-size field there, long axis third base line short axis first base line, the mound just outside the field of play. Being it's months till baseball again, they could pull out the mound and have the field closer to the third base side fans. As it stands, it looks like the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium or the old Baltimore Memorial Stadium.
The Holiday Bowl was obviously moved to Petco Park because the demolition of Qualcomm Stadium in 2020. Snapdragon Stadium, which is now on the site, only has a capacity of 35,000 and Petco can hold 10,000 more so I don’t see the Holiday Bowl moving there once Petco’s contract is up. It should be noted that Snapdragon was designed to eventually be expanded to 55,000 seats, so… Interesting to see what the plans are for this bowl game in the next 5 to 10 years
Petco Park is a better option. It's downtown, baseball off-season, unique atmosphere, and the parade is already downtown.
I know it’s a minor league stadium but SRP Park in North Augusta close to where I live should host a bowl game, The SRP Bowl, would be very cool.
SMU wins the AAC, and what do they get? The Fenway Bowl. What a slap in the face to a team that survived the “Death Penalty” 36 years ago.
East West Shrine game will be played at the Star in Frisco this year.
4:50: The game at Chase Field may have decent attendance. Kansas has had a resurgence after decades as a losing team. Kansas fans travel for men's basketball and I think many people will go there to support the team for this football game, especially with it being in a warm weather climate which Manhattan Kansas is not in late December.
I wish Busch stadium would host bowl games call dodge gateway bowl it could sec vs big 10
2:40: There will be a bump in attendance with Boston College playing in the game this year.
Wrigley field was build multipurpose. The bears played there
built*
in this otherwise entertaining video, you made one significant mistake when you said the Army-Navy game used to be played in Yankee Stadium. Actually, the game has generally been played in Philadelphia (which is about halfway between the two schools). Only twice has this game been played at a facility called Yankee Stadium: 1930 and 1931 (at the original Yankee Stadium, not the current one).
The New England Patriots did Play in Fenway Park from 1963-1969
And the Redskins in the mid 30s
Don't forget NYCFC the MLS ⚽ Team also play at Yankee Stadium
The Yankees and Man City literally co-own that team
Pinstripe bowl is the rose bowl of the east !! Go Rutgers !!
I’d call it the Guaranteed rate bowl of the east
FWIW, new Yankee Stadium was specifically built to accommodate football, knowing what a significant football stadium its true predecessor was.
The land Marlins Park sits on was once a very popular place for football games. 😉
Are the Rangers not hosting the armed forces bowl this year?
No they are playing it in Ft Worth at TCU’s stadium.
What needs to happen is moving some of these bowls to international markets. Let’s be honest, how many players and fans want to travel to Montgomery, Alabama to watch your 7-5 team play in the Camellia Bowl at a decrepit former minor league baseball stadium? Move these lower tier bowl games to Europe or even Latin America. Not only will it help grow and promote the sport to global audiences, but it will at least give players and traveling fans a far more memorable and overall better experience.
I wouldn’t say Europe, at least not yet but maybe Canada or Mexico could be an alternative. Mexico City maybe for a mid-tier bowl game involving at least one ranked team or one close to it, then in Canada there’s so many different cities that can be chosen from. That in my opinion would be a more viable option
BULLSHIT venues!...Yankees Stadium and Fenway.
Oakland coliseum should host one final football game next season. Would be awesome to see
It really depends on if the Coliseum got rid of their temporary football bleacher seating.
