Measure one of A3 is a “resolution” of a C major 9 chord to a C6 chord (the “smallest” 4-note expression of a C major chord). The 2 resolves to 1 and 7 resolves to 6. This “resolution” can be reversed. The other version of the resolution is chromatic; 9, -9, 1 with a simultaneous 7, -7, 6. This also works in reverse This can also be applied to a C major 7#11 chord. The #11 resolves to 3, 9 resolves to 1, 7 resolves to 6. I’ll let you figure out the 13th chord. I learned this from Lyle "Spud" Murphy, a teacher that Oscar took some lessons from.
th-cam.com/video/_dQbc9ndVyU/w-d-xo.html Here, Cory Henry talks about a piece done by Oscar Peterson, Take the A Train but in 6/8. Can you cover that too? It is hard to find it because he says it is done in 6/8, but the only other one I could find sounds like it’s in 3/4 - th-cam.com/video/Zau8btiJ8z0/w-d-xo.html
You are gifted in explaining all these in details. Really appreciate that. ❤
This is brilliantly explained 👍🙂
Glad to hear that! Thanks for the comment, Yannick!

Diatonic Harmonization - an often overlooked, yet still a powerful soli technique! Thanks for the comment, Jonas!
